discovered today that i am personally solely responsible for the childhood illiteracy rate in wales. which was. a revelation.

#imagine being a teacher calling a library at 16:30 thursday afternoon and getting pissy that they cant accommodate a full class visit #literally the next day. like 17 hours notice. only 2 of which are working hours. get fucking real #to get pissed off and angry at me when i said sorry we cant do fridays we're busy and understaffed #accusing me of not wanting to give impoverished kids access to books ( genuinely a sentence she said to me)#said if you would have contacted us earlier we could have organised something and she said We wont bother then and hung up. ok.#“if 25 kids walked in off the street with parents would you turn them away” well. no but that doesnt happen. “why are you refusing us then”#<-sentences dreamed up by the utterly deranged. and yet one that was forced upon me today #genuinely like. your lack of planning is not my problem sorry. we struggle on fridays anyway we simply cannot have a class in. other classe #from the SAME DAMN SCHOOL came for a visit 2 weeks ago they know we cant do fridays i told them then #fucking bizarre #called my supervisor to get ahead of any potential complaints and incase they call up the ladder so he knows what happened and he was pisse #off too lol like. that just isnt how things happen it isnt how we do it.#funny thing is one of our regulars came in an hour later (17:30) whos kids go there #and she mentioned a school trip here. so iwas like well no actuially im so sorry they had not organised that we cant accommodate that #and apparently. they had sent out an email to the parents at 8am. today. telling them about the trip. didnt call us til 4.30.#ive been fumimg about this for hours #local teacher shocked that local public library cannot cater to every demand immediately with no notice #literally if they contacted us earlier we couldve worked something out i couldve gotten more staff in i couldve proposed a different day.#but no. she didnt even want a different solution she just hung up #RAAAAAAAAAGH #vent
