What If Korra Fuses With Both Raava And Vaatu?
What if Korra fuse with both Raava and Vaatu instead of Vaatu fuses with Unalaq during Harmonic Convergence?
In my AU, if Vaatu possesses Korra instead of Unalaq, both two spirits of darkness and light inside her can make Vaatu grow powerful and stronger, he could destroy the world and the universe, OR, both Korra, Raava and Vaatu can defeat Unalaq and live in the two spirits can live inside Korra's body forever. Together, Korra, Raava and Vaatu would maintain the balance of good and evil, no longer the bridge between worlds, but a new and improved Avatar, a powerful being in the universe. The fusion of the two spirits of light and darkness recreates the reboot Avatar of the Balance.
Vaatu would hate being a good guy, but he knows that darkness with light can bore him. He will have no one to fight. Example when Megamind thought he killed Metro Man, he gets bored. And maintain the balance, the Lords of Order and Chaos from Young Justice, despite them being enemies, the sacred balance would be forever lost, and protecting that balance, not victory, is the Lords' true purpose. That is what Raava and Vaatu should do.
If that would happen, the connection with the past Avatars won't be broken. You're welcome.

So... my second fanfiction for the @avatar-rare-pair-ship-challenge, and I have to admit, it is quite different and more crack-y than my first one. But I wanted to get out of my comfort zone, first with the smut, and now with the spirits. Besides, it was fun to write lol, so why not?
...
Ship: Raava/Vaatu (though it is not explicitly shippy)
Prompt: Forbidden Love
Rating: General audiences
Fic Summary: After his victory, Vaatu realizes that he actually misses Raava.
Azulaang Week 1 - Balance
@azulaangweek
Azula: So let's go over it again. The avatar spirit has evolved. Vaatu’s natural abilities and instincts have been successfully taken from him and combined with all of Raava’s. How do you feel?
Aang: I feel whole. More tranquil and powerful than ever before. Like I got back a part of myself I never knew was missing to begin with. I can feel both positive and negative influences and emotions. Light and Dark. There’s not the slightest bit of conflict or nullification between them anymore. Everything about me has become perfectly synchronized and harmonized. Everything looks clearer than crystal.
Azula: And you're sure it's all just Raava in there? You don't sense Vaatu's presence?
Aang: No. When Vaatu was purified to death, Raava essentially took his place as the new spirit of darkness, chaos, and yin, while still keeping her usual status as the spirit of light, peace, and yang at the same time. Raava is basically Raavaatu, the avatar spirit of balance itself.
Azula: Ok...
Aang: I know you're worried. But the dark avatar is gone for good this time, and his 100-year war has ended. He can't exploit you anymore.
Azula: I'm more worried about you getting exploited than me. You're forced to carry all that evil inside of you. You may have to make some morally questionable choices in order to enforce true external balance.
Aang: Maybe, but I couldn't possibly become as bad as the dark avatar. Not without internally going out of balance, which would fatally weaken me.
Azula: Then I trust that you have it all handled.
Zutara Week 4 - Balance
As Zuko was putting on his robe, he looked outside and could see the auroras and northern/southern lights in broad daylight, with various spirits moving in the distance. Katara came in.
Zuko: Katara!
Katara: Hi Zuko. So it's really over?
Zuko: Yeah. Not just the 100-year war but the eternal conflict between Raava and Vaatu. The Avatar ended them both simultaneously.
Katara: Yeah. For my whole life, I always hoped the avatar would save us. Aang exceeded my expectations. But there's something else I'm a bit concerned about.
Zuko: What is it?
Katara: The avatar spirit obtaining the natural powers and instincts of both Raava and Vaatu. It's just Raava in control of them, right? No traces of Vaatu?
Zuko: That's what Aang says.
Katara: Vaatu was literally the source of all forms of evil. But now that status belongs to Raava, and Aang is forced to carry that amount of evil inside him. He also can't contact his past lives anymore.
Zuko: I know. But remember, Raava is still also the source of all forms of good, making the spirit, and by extension, the avatar, the source of all forms of balance. Both extreme concepts now coexist in harmony, and Aang knows that we are there for him. Avatar Wan's cycle may be gone, but a new one will be born through Aang, and he'll be there for all of his future lives.
Katara: Thanks for the reassurance.
Let's see how different TLOK would be if ATLA had a book 4: Air, Harmonic Convergence was in Aang's saga, Ozai was Vaatu/The Dark Avatar, Aang lost his past lives, and Zutara and Azulaang were endgame.
For starters, the world as it looks by the end of TLOK will already be like that at the beginning of TLOK. Three spirit portals are already open, but the third portal will be placed where the giant swamp tree and tree of time used to be. Makes sense to have a third portal there. The Air Nation and Airbenders have already returned. Korra would only be able to speak to Aang. Katara will have multiple statues, one in the South Pole, one in the North, and several in the Fire Nation that replace all of Sozin's, Azulon's, and "Ozai's." The spirits of the original benders exist because Ozaatu caused the extinction of all OG benders so he could consume their souls, abilities, attributes, bending, memories, and experiences but those souls have been freed.
Book 1 of Korra will be renamed Energy. Having mastered the elements, Korra is tasked with learning energybending next, which she struggles with since it's the purest, most spiritual, and arguably the strongest form of bending. This parallels Amon, who allegedly has "energybending" and uses it to block bending. Katara is there during Yakone's trial, she fights beside Aang and helps him subdue Yakone.
Book 2: Spirits is a bit more challenging to think up but importantly, Unalaq would be the well-intentioned extremist he was supposed to be. I figured he'd come from the opposite extreme as Amon and he goes after non-benders. During the North and South Civil War, Katara pulled amazing battle feats that pushed back the invading North. Unalaq does not orchestrate Tonraq's banishment nor set up the invaders to attack the north. It'll all happen coincidently. If Unalaq were to have a spiritual ally, it would be Hundun from Korra's game. If Unalaq were to die, it'd be because of a heroic sacrifice. Aang's sons will mostly be the same, with his oldest only being named after Roku. His daughter is named after Ursa, she's a firebender and has fire nation attire. Aang and Azula's family are more equal. Azula was the most demanding of that equality.
Book 3: Change. The airbending rebuilding subplot would be cut because it'll have already happened in Aang's era. Various red lotus members will infiltrate the white lotus and give Zaheer and the main elite members the keys to their escape. Roku 2 is not an Airbender, he and his family already became content with him being a non-bender a long time ago. The rest is the same.
Book 4: Balance. It's the same except Korra doesn't accidentally open another portal, I think there are enough portals. Zuko and Katara's daughter and current fire lord, Izumi (or Kya), has a mix of fire and water tribe attires. I'm having trouble deciding whether to switch the endings of ATLA and TLOK and have Aang and Azula take a vacation in the spirit world together while Korra and Asami have their kiss moment or just have ATLA end with all members showing up beside Aang and they all look out into the horizon and sunset while TLOK's ending remains the same.
