One problem I’ve noticed with past racechanges  is when done to comic relief characters that are goofballs, it seems people then try to make them less goofy to make them better “role models”

I hope we get better at this and allow representation without toning down zaniness, but I think many think its harder for an audience to buy somewhat not a white man feeling so confident that a fake mustache works as a disguise, or going into hiding as their own long lost twin.

Grantaire and Enjolras being part-Chinese and part-Japanese respectively and raising their son Theo to speak both languages (plus French and English).

Several great things come of it – including never confusing which dad Theo is referring to because he calls Grantaire baba and Enjolras tousan and the both of them as daaaaa~ad when he's trying to be cute.

It also means they get to have individual "secrets" with Theo.  When there's something they don't want Enjolras to know, Grantaire and Theo would speak in Chinese and vice versa for Grantaire in Japanese.

(They both speak Chinese and Japanese, but to varying degrees of fluency, but they play along with Theo when he's determined to show that he can keep a secret.)

He also spends the first five years of his life calling Beau Bo-bo.

i want an au marauders game where the marauders aren't friends, or only one or two of them are friends, and a lot of the canon shit hasn't happened

but i can't make the game because if i did i'd want someone else to run it cause im really shitty at running games. im decent at making games, it's running them i can't do.
