RaceDots Application Board
One would think that affixing a race number to a jersey with a few magnets wouldn't require any skill, but as with anything new, there is always a learning curve...
Just receiving my package of RaceDots, I open them at the race venue and begin my usual ritual of affixing my race number. I start by spreading out my jersey across the hood of my vehicle and line up my number. I begin to place the first RaceDot and SNAP, it sticks to the hood of my vehicle. DOH! Yeah, that's not going to work, smart guy. Feeling like a complete idiot, I peel the rare-earth magnet off the hood, which was no small feat by the way, and decide to try again on a non metallic surface, like the carpet floor of my trunk - much better - sort of...
Now that the RaceDot's aren't clinging to my vehicle, I continue placing each dot, six in total, to my jersey. Keeping my jersey taught and trying to hold the front magnet and number together to place the back magnet proved to be a bigger challenge than I anticipated. I am also very OCD and like my number placed as perfectly as possible (race officials love me for this). Anyway, after fumbling with the RaceDots for a couple of minutes, I finally affix my number to my satisfaction.
This entire experience had me thinking that there had to be a better way to affix these RaceDots. It didn't take me long to come up with a solution. I present to you the RaceDots Application Board.

This is my first proof-of-concept design. Later designs will allow the board to store your collection of RaceDots as well as be made from a thinner, lighter material.
