December 17, 2025 - Blue-headed Racquet-tail or Palawan Racket-tail (Prioniturus platenae) Found in Palawan in the western Philippines, these parrots live in and around forests and cultivated areas. Almost nothing is known about their diet except that it includes nuts but closely related species feed on seeds, nuts, and fruit. They forage alone, in pairs, and in small flocks. Little is known about their breeding behavior though juveniles have been found in January and August. Classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN, their population is declining due to threats from deforestation, typhoons, trapping, and hunting.
