The southern end of Mirkwood's forest was green and full of life as the winter began to slip away and spring crept in. A breeze drifted through tree tops, a song soft and low as a barely noticeable figure walked on the forest floor.
It drifted between trees, curiously looking around as it approached each tree. It seemed to stop and speak with them, as if waking them up from their deep sleep in winter.
If one listened closely in the forest you could hear the soft yawns and groans of the trees awakening.

Arien sat up quickly, rubbing her eyes with soft fists upon hearing footfalls close to her. She had not meant to take a nap, but she had been awake all night making a potion and did not get enough rest to last through the day. Her small hands were brought away from her eyes and she blinked, smiling apologetically at the stranger. "I am dreadfully sorry-I was not expecting company so soon. How may I assist you?"

It seemed the snow was melting, and Aneleth shook frost from her coat. Her hood was frozen solid and the tip of her nose was bright red and numb. Happy to see that some of the cold wind had subdued, she stepped out from the hollow of the tree into the little field. Some of the rays of the morning sun she could feel warm her face that tingled.
But she felt she was not the only one here and looked about while tying her bag to her back. The tighter the better, if she needed to flee she would be able to run faster that way.
Still, apart from some dripping of water melting from the branches, she heard nothing. Then she spotted something move in the thick wintery coat of winter. It moved about shoving the snow into a large fluffy pile. Curious to what it was - and if maybe it could serve as breakfast - she tested the direction of what little wind there was, and came closer.
Then out plopped two grey ears, a quickly twitching nose and two dark eyes. Aneleth quickly went down to the ground, for rabbit stew was indeed a lovely way to start the day.

Although Elmo did not mind at all the cool shade of the night, he was delighted that the morning had finally come. Well.. It had been raining rather heavily a couple of days now... But now the forest was glimmering, like newand fresh. The rays of the bright, if a bit cold sun filtered through the trees, greeting the forest after the clouded night.
Elmo danced through the woods, a crown weaved of the last daisies he had found upon his platinum head. And he was not alone -he was never alone - for with him rejoiced his colourful little friends, too: many dragonflies he had befriended, accompanied with damselflies, that all sprinted through the air around him.
The elf smiled, taking in a good breath of the fresh scent. He jumped to stand on a boulder that bathed in the bright light among the trees and let a few of his friends to find a little place to sit on as he lifted up his hand. Admiring the shining colours of the insects Elmo stood still, like a statue erected upon that boulder.
