CR 2971; Radebaugh, PA; July 1981
The Parkway Limited only existed for about eight months in 1981, but it was certainly well documented. This infamous train was funded by PennDot to provide commuter service between Greensburg and Pittsburgh while the Parkway East was being constructed. The train used refurbished Amtrak coaches as well as four U36Bs sold to Conrail. The train is seen here in thus July 1981 shot on the controlled siding between RADE and TRAFF. The controlled siding only existed only for another year after this shot. In the background, a keen eye can see CP RADE's eastbound signal bridge sporting three signals - two for the main tracks and one for the controlled siding.
