I am annotating a lot of bits and sentences following FE10's Naesala's POV

I used to write a lot about him when I first started writing fics, so it feels like returning home. I've always enjoyed try to get in his head and write things from his POV

Now that I'm older and my writing style feels more mature, it's even better

I do have the tendency of deleting a lot of stuff, as I have the tendency of keeping adding and adding and adding to a sentence, only to realize once I reread it that it's too much

just found this blog and i'm obsessed, i've been rewatching GX lately after having only seen the dub as a kid long long ago, and i've been watching the sub, but occassionally switching to the dub when i was like "do i just not remember xyz correctly or was it changed...???" and it has made me so curious about dub/sub changes. especially bc i always liked ryou/zane even as a dub watcher, but i DEFINITELY felt watching the sub that he was very different in it?? so when i saw one of your posts in the ryou marufuji tag i was like "THAT IS SO EPIC OMG" and i just wanted to let you know that i am about to binge all your posts on this blog like a madman while beaming ear to ear. ALSO CONGRATS ON THE DOCTORATE

Hooboy (positive). The memories really get you, the reverse of this (going "wait a second" about the dub) is in fact how I started asking questions that led to the creation of this blog. And the Marufuji/Truesdale brothers are a very good example of that! I think that one flashback in episode 7 shows how the dub and sub can tell different stories based on the same footage (or at least 90% of it), and both can be compelling if handled right.

If you don't mind me taking this chance to editorialize a bit, Twitch has an official Yugioh channel that usually runs the dub but recently started streaming the sub for DM, GX, and (two seasons of) Arc-V. (There's also a channel just for streaming Yugioh subbed in English, and more in other languages!) Since I learned about this last week I've been running it on and off in the background when doing less intensive work. And the Twitch chat was pretty interesting to peek in on while the GX sub was going, because a fair number of people previously only knew the dub and had similar experiences to you. I saw some "Wait, this was different in the dub" or "Oh this plot point makes more sense in the sub" or but also a lot of love for the dub, and it was really a reminder that different fans can have such different experiences with the same anime.

There was also a lot of excitement over season 4, which of course dub-only viewers wouldn't have seen, and when season 4 did start streaming it became a lot of people's first experience with GX's famously undubbed season. And without going into spoilers, an interesting thing I noticed was how some people would theorize (jokingly or not) about how 4KIDS would adapt or censor certain plot elements if they had dubbed season 4. I think that speaks to a real curiosity and exploration of the differences between sub and dub, and of the reasons those differences exist. The curiosity that drives this blog comes from the same place.

(No I didn't advertise this blog in the Twitch chat. I feel like there must have been a rule against that, and it would have been extremely tacky besides.)

Also thank you very much for the congratulations! <3 I've got a lot of work to do still, but I'm very happy that graduation is in sight. Do we think Duel Academia/Duel Academy is hiring? In this economy I'm willing to take my chances with the active volcano and world-threatening plots if it means job security.

also my current pin😔i spent a couple of days on it and still am really proud. alas, posting into a popular tag is another form of gambling.

aside from that though MY THIRD SEM ASUKA PIECE. I SPENT LIKE 3 DAYS ON IT AND IT STILL FUCKS IMO. IDC IF IT'S NEARLY TWO YEARS OLD. IDC IF IT'S OC ART. IT FUCKS AND I SHOULD MAKE PEOPLE LOOK AT IT AGAIN

21. what do you think your art style would taste like?

i think i remember being told it'd taste like blueberries? a blueberry shake or muffin? something of that sort. my personal answer though would be like, lofthouse cookies. you know, those evilly sugary frosted sugar cookies

Ann didn't say anything, only giving Sonozaki a concerned look. She wasn't going to just...go back in there, was she? After what just happened to her? Even knowing she'd be killed if she slipped up even once? God, she looked like she was going to cry at any moment, if she was left alone... The model turned to look back at Akira, who seemed to be thinking similar thoughts. Yeah, they weren't just going to leave the poor girl here. Especially now that she's even more at risk than before. She gave him a silent nod, as if to agree with him.

First of all: did you get your name from High School Musical?”  Kelsi blinked. “I- uh- wait, what?” “Rumor has it that you took your name from Kelsi Nielsen from the High School Musical franchise,” Josh elaborated. “Can you confirm or deny this allegation?” Kelsi stammered for a moment before Harold coughed into his fist. “I thought you were gonna be interviewing us about our music. 20) Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Something that I've noticed is that I write a lot of quiet moments between characters, where nothing really happens, and they're just there, living that moment together.

Also I tend to make a lot of modern AUs because I love to put characters in modern situations and think about what they'd do.

As for specific words or expression, there's definitely something, but I tend to forget the specifics very fast, so I don't have an actual answer. There are definitely some expressions that, although they aren't completely incorrect in english, make more sense in italian, that's for sure.

27) What is your most and least favorite part of writing?

My most favorite part of writing is writing dialogue. I love entering into characters' minds to figure out what they'd say in a determined situation.

My least favorite part is definitely anything descriptive: I'm fine when I have to work with characters' emotions, but if I have to describe a place, or an object? Lord help me.

55) Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

I really like writing asshole characters, they make everything so fun. For example, Naesala and Adachi are two of my favorite characters to write, because they have the asshole parts, but there are also deeper parts to them that allow me to explore very dark places, which is something I like doing.

As for the second part of that question, no, I've never been influenced by what my readers think. The good thing about writing niche things from the start, is that you get very little interaction, so there really isn't a point in changing views to fit what the larger public wants.

Not that I wouldn't love to get more interactions on my stuff, who wouldn't, but there's a sort of freedom in not having to care about what your readers want. I always try to write for myself first, and if something I've published resonates with people, good, if not, that's fine as well.

I'm weird. I write one-shots that have sequels that could function as their own chapters, all in one little series. They tend to be trilogies, too. Dunno.

Sadie let out a loud, joyous yelp. “It’s finished! Katie, come look!” 

Katie quickly scurried over, dropping Kelsi’s board shorts into the “toss” pile as she ran. “Eeee! Sadie, it’s perfect!” 

Kelsi sat up with a groan. “Are you finally going to let me see your surprise project?”

Sadie beamed, holding up the object between two fingers. “Ta-da!” 

It was a bracelet made out of plastic beads, with three rows. The top layer was a baby blue, soft and inviting. Creamy, pristine white made up the bottom row. Cotton-candy pink was sandwiched in between. “Do you like it?” Sadie asked expectantly. 

It took Kelsi a moment to recognize what she was looking at, but eventually, it clicked: it was the trans flag. And it was made for her. 

She took the bracelet with shaking hands, carefully sliding it over her wrist. “I love it,” she said weakly, trying to keep her voice from cracking. “Sadie, th-thank you. Really.”
