My job consists of a lot of spreadsheets, and sometimes all the functions in Excel work like they should, and sometimes I make a mistake that I then have to painstakingly go through the cells to find to fix, and sometimes Excel just refuses to do something for no fucking reason!  I hate it so much!

Since Tommy is my little guy I thought it’d be a fun joke to also have him frustrated at Excel and all its bullshit.  And we all know that Clipboard Buck is absolutely a spreadsheet guy.  Look at him.  He gets so exited over color coding the cells.

“You gotta keep calm,” Evan said as he highlighted several rows and typed in an equation that was as Lovecraftain as it was incomprehensible.  “Excel can smell your fear.”

“Jesus Christ,” Tommy said, “you’re like a horse girl but for spreadsheets.”

I can see why you'd make that assumption, but in fact you're wrong on both counts. Prowl's in-car behaviour is somewhat disgusting -- he has been known to dunk his burger in his milkshake while driving -- but he's a fastidious soul and vain to boot, so he clears out all wrappers and napkins when he disembarks.

The Dratchets, on the other hand, own at least three dogs at any given time, and Ratchet's Volvo station wagon, a.k.a The Brick, is their designated transport. The upholstery is basically dog hair, with an assortment of muddy towels in the back for wet dogs, windows besmirched by the imprints of dog noses, and a pervasive odour of dog and cigarettes throughout. (His car being one of the few places he still is allowed to smoke.) So shocking is the inside of this car that Drift forbids him to give anyone a ride in it, and sends one of his outrageously modified Toyotas, parachute at the back and exhaust pipes spitting fire, as the designated conveyance whenever someone needs a lift to the airport.

The silly answer is the original 99 Luftballons in German which Jackson used to sing during surveillance just to annoy her. Eventually Diana started singing along. A fitting anthem to their Cold War days.

The serious answer is Debussy's Clair de Lune for a fic I am writing where Diana went undercover as a concert pianist with Jackson as her handler! watch this space...

💔What’s the one fight that almost ended them?

I think they had a huge blow up after Jackson decided to go to Slough House. She told him he was throwing his life and career away. He told her the Service had broken him and would break her, too, if she gave it enough time. He said if she didn't like the idea of Slough House they could take his flight fund and run away tonight. You can imagine how well that suggestion went over. I don't think they spoke for a long time after that.

🧩What tiny habit of the other do they find unbearably adorable?

They both love the little tells the other has when they let the mask drop. Diana loves those moments when Jackson forgets to be a shambolic mess and some kind of operational muscle memory kicks in like a reflex--could be catching a tea cup before it falls off the table or moving instinctively too shield her from a threat. And for him it's those unguarded moments when Diana actually seems to feel an uncontrolled human emotion--nervously fidgeting with a paperclip when she's anxious, a tiny smile at something when she thinks no one is watching. And they both glimpse these things about each other and pretend not to notice...and then pretend they haven't caught the other one pretending not to notice. Spooks in love.
