HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY TO INVADER ZIM!!!!
I can say with a full heart that this show has had such a profound impact on me and I’m so grateful for its existence. I would not be who nor where I am today without it, as cliché as that sounds. It inspires me every day to keep drawing and creating without apology—I wrote such a gushy post about it last night very sleepily after a fun filled day of sharing my love for the show with a great friend of mine, but that will stay in my drafts. Most of it, anyway. Here’s an excerpt from it I feel encapsulates how I’ve felt as of late due to rereading and studying The Art Of Invader Zim:
(The quote was said by Jenny Goldberg, specifically in reference to working on Enter The Florpus and how although it isn’t as mean-spirited as the original show, it still means so much. I’m very much paraphrasing in that explanation.)
I wish to express from the very depths of my being that this show means the world to me, and it has become such an inextricable part of my being that I could not imagine where my art or I would be if I had not watched that first episode back when I was 12. Now I’m going into college, still just as enthralled with the show as I was in the beginning, enamored with the artistry behind it, the world the story takes place in, the characters, everything. I love Invader Zim. I hope to carry this love with me and my art forever.
