Got 'em.
Not that one. The other one! The 50 questions one. Haha
Whoops! I didn’t realize I had two question things so close together. haha
ok
3:What if I told you that you were pretty?
lol. I would say “shhhhhhh”.
LOL dude that's hilarious. Epic job on that one.
*bows*
thank you much
There is no difference between atheism and humanism. It's the same damn thing and therefore, if you call yourself a 'Christian humanist', you are an idiot. The two are non-compatible. You simply cannot add to or take away scripture and call yourself a Christian.
A response to concerns on being a pro-choice Christian:
Instead of reblogging the original post, I've decided to make a separate one in order to minimize the length. The bolded are the concerns addressed in this post.
Don't you have any pastors to talk to? Praying is good but sometimes God doesn't answer. Sometimes He does. Sometimes the devil answers instead.
I do, actually! Pastor Rebecca was my pastor for a very long time, and she is so smart. We never really discussed abortion, though. She wasn't very political, which I always thought was a good thing. Unfortunately, she had to move churches because of some rather rude people who didn't like the fact that she was a woman (I know, so silly, right?) Anyways, our new pastor is still, well, new, and I don't know him very well. Perhaps as grow to know him, we'll be able to have the same kinds of conversations that Pastor Rebecca and I had.
Praying is awesome - I love prayer. It's a great way to talk with God and just be myself. You're right that sometimes God doesn't answer (though, wouldn't that be His answer?), but you should maybe elaborate on that: Sometimes God doesn't answer right away. Sometimes God doesn't answer until a few years later. Sometimes God doesn't answer in the way you want. Sometimes God doesn't answer the whole prayer. The list could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Perhaps the devil answers (more like butts-in; how rude) sometimes, but then you just take it right back to God. You can always find your way back.
God always has a plan and sometimes he makes us wait for the answer. That could me mins, days, weeks, years, decades, etc. But its always for a reason and we will never understand it…we can only trust Him.
Yes!
Yeah, that wasn’t God. God would never say its OK to kill your child. He would never say you have the right to kill your child. God is pro-life. He creates life…and takes it away. I see a lot of Christians saying God is love. Is He love? I think you have to ask yourself that because where is love in killing your own child? You admit its a life. You admit its a human. Why would this God of love give you the right to kill it? You know who wants death, destruction, immorality, and more dead babies? The devil. Is the devil love? Think about that.
I am so sorry, I didn't realize you were God! Or, at the very least, that you are the official spokesperson for Him!
I think you kind of answer yourself there when you say, "He creates life...and takes it away." Did you know God gave people free will? How cool is that? He trusts His people to make their own decisions! (Besides, what fun would it be for people to all be the same?)
Point me to the verse that states God is completely against abortion. I would love to see it. And while you're at it, have a look at this awesome follower input.
No, its not. (In response to me saying it's okay to be a vocal pro-choice Christian) But thats exactly what the devil wants you to think and the devils way is a lot easier than God’s way, let me tell you. Its easy to fall in the devils traps.
Sure it is! The main reason being that no one knows my personal relationship with God (not even you).
You think being a pro-choice Christian is easy? HA. Between messages from people like you and the condescending comments from my family and several church members, this is far from easy. I can guarantee you my life would be a thousand times simpler if I were a pro-life Christian; if I went along with what people want me to believe; if I fell into the trap that thinks banning abortion or limiting access to contraception would make abortion go away. I would be able to pretend that these issues don't exist, and it wouldn't be my problem.
But I can't cave in to willful ignorance, my friend. I have a world to change, and I can't do it without my faith.
And what really irks me is that you use a pro-choice blog and opinion to justify you, a so-called Christian, and your faith as proof instead of the Bible! That is absolutely jaw-dropping. Why even have a Bible to turn to when there’s other blogs and sites to back you up on a “answer” given to you by “god”. Are you kidding me right now?
I'm so sorry that irks you. Perhaps a nice cup of tea could help you relax a bit?
See, if you had gone through the other links I gave you, you would know that I use my Bible to back-up things all the time! And yeah, I get some ideas and thoughts from other people - is that wrong? Or am I supposed to understand the Bible 100% on my own and by myself?
Why would I try to kid you? This is an important part of my life, and I'm very passionate about it.
Do you need God to personally tell you that abortion is wrong? Just read your Bible. It may say nothing about abortion, but it also says a lot about life IN the womb.
No, I don't think so. I mean if He does, fine, I'll drop everything I do, convert to Catholicism, and become a nun.
You say "just read your Bible" like I don't, which is odd. Of course I read my Bible.
Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
Ah, the most loved verse from Jeremiah. Just a little fun fact for you: God is speaking specifically to the prophet Jeremiah here. He was born specifically to be a prophet, which is what God is telling him. Secondly, what a verse of encouragement! If someone is feeling down and hopeless in their life, that verse and the ones following it will show them that they’re here for a reason and that they have a purpose.
It’s not a verse to twist and play into furthering the pro-life movement (especially since not everyone is a Christian), but rather a verse for people who are born to look at in times of need. It’s reassurance that God is here and that He knows us.
Job 10: 8-9: “Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me. Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?”
Whew - King James loves him some words, doesn't he? If you don't mind, so I can understand a bit better, I'll be reading from my NIV.
This one is a bit different, because instead of God talking, we have Job responding to his friend Bildad by saying what he (Job) will say to God. Basically he's questioning why God would even bother creating him if He was only going to cause Job's suffering (though, we must remember that Job does not realize his suffering isn't coming from God).
I'm not sure why you stuck this verse in here, because all it is is Job complaining and crying out to God.
Exodus 21:22-24: “If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,”
That verse is talking about miscarriages. If two guys fight, and unintentionally hurt a woman with child, then they are punished according to the judges. If its intentional (mischief), and the woman or the child dies, its life for a life. Life…for a life.
I think you might have misread those verses? "If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman's husband demands and the court allows." Here, prematurely could also mean a miscarriage. Which means her child's life would be taken from her involuntarily.
The second part of those verses tells what should happen if serious injury occurs (if the woman is killed, for example). Basically, the punishment is worse if the woman dies, not the child.
The Bible also says a lot about how its wrong to murder and commit adultery (which can lead to abortions).
Matthew 15:19: For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Matthew 19:18: He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
But just because we CAN do it, doesn’t mean its OK in God’s eyes.
Okay? Could you elaborate on your point here, because I'm not seeing it.
What leads to abortions are the lack of affordable contraception, the lack of a comprehensive sex education, and the defunding of important welfare programs. Perhaps we should focus more on fixing these issues, rather than shaming people for having sex or for choosing to have an abortion.
Romans 1:28-29: “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,”
Do you understand yet? I really hope so.
What I understand is that you seem to enjoy the punishing parts of the Bible. Obviously there are things that are absolutely horrific (murder, rape, etc) and should be dealt with, but you're forgetting things like:
1 Corinthians 7:3-5: "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
Romans 2:1-4: "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgement on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgement do the same things. Now we know that God’s judgement against those who do such things is based on truth. So when you, a mere man, pass judgement on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgement? Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you towards repentance?"
Romans 13:8-10: "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."
What? Where did you get that from? (In response to me saying Mary gave her consent to carrying Jesus). What book are you reading because it ain’t the Bible. An angel came to her and told her straight up that she was gonna become preggo with Jesus because God favored her. Her response was like, ‘but I’m a virgin’ and the angel said nothing is impossible with God. I don’t know where you got the asking part from…
Okay, so I used the wrong word. Thanks for pointing that out, because now I can fix it.
Luke 1:26-38: (Removed for length purposes. Linkable for those who wish to read the verses)
Thats not exactly saying yes.
Thats not saying yes. Thats not giving consent. Thats called trusting God. FAITH.
Isn't it, though? You don't think, "'I am the Lord's servant,' Mary answered. 'May it be to me as you have said.'" is consent? She basically said, "Hey, I'm okay with this and I'm ready to serve the Lord." That's not consent? And yeah, she has faith, otherwise she may not have accepted this.
So there’s that. Mary knew she was chosen to carry the Son of God (not asked) and accepted it because she trusted God.
Ah, key word there: accepted. She accepted.
He may still love them but the actions (abortions) make Him very, very, very, sad. Saying that He would approve makes Him very very very sad. Disappointed, really. How low can Christians possibly go when we say that God would approve of us killing off our own children after HE formed them in the womb?
Do they? How do you know? Are you absolutely 100% positive? Don't you think He cares for the pregnant person? Do they matter to Him? Or are they meaningless once they become pregnant? Have you ever considered that perhaps an abortion is part of someone's plan?
How about how low can Christians possibly go when we say that God would approve of us killing off His children in war? AFTER He formed them, saw them born, and helped and loved them as they grew?
What if Jesus had been aborted? Was Jesus just a thing until he popped out? Was Jesus just a worthless glob of cells at one point? Was Jesus a disposable jellybean at some point? Or was Jesus a tiny piece of life? He was human after all. Sure, he had powers but he was human. He went through the same creation process in the womb of a virgin.
We just established that Jesus wouldn't have been aborted because Mary gave her consent to carrying the pregnancy and raising him.
I wish you would look a bit deeper before you go spouting off things you simply hear and repeat. Of course He was life, and of course He was human - who said He wasn't? This is such an outdated and overused "argument." The majority of people who respect choice recognize that an embryo or fetus is a human life.
Though again, I'm not entirely sure what you're getting at here. Jesus wasn't going to be aborted, because Mary was willing to carry the pregnancy.
I want you to ask yourself this. If God didn’t kill his own Son in the womb, why should you? What gives you the right to kill your own child in the womb as a Christian? What would God say to you if you went out, got pregnant, and aborted it? Good job, my child? Live however you want, my child? Your way is better than mine, my child?
Again, forget the "What if Jesus had been aborted?" - It's not relevant.
People have the right to make their own reproductive decisions. Why can't you trust them to know what is right for them?
I am not God, therefore I cannot tell you for sure what He would say. But I can tell you what I think He would say, based on the Word: "I love you, my child. You are beautiful, inside and out. I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will protect you and care for you. You are loved."
ragingconservative007 reblogged your post I need a new laptop ... and added:
No. First time. And last. But I need a new laptop so…
I'm so sorry.
Black Friday is hell.
People who find themselves agreeing with the political right have often claimed that leftists only vote with their emotions. They'll accuse us of ignoring the truth if it doesn't line up with the way we feel. If that's the case then why has it consistently been right wingers abandoning debates whenever hard facts are brought up? Why is it that conservatives have no problem arguing with us until we back up our opinions with statistics, quotations, and citations. Why do they then mysteriously quit replying? It's as if they don't know what to do when they have to form a cohesive argument without relying on scare tactics and defamation. If you don't want to engage in any actual discourse then that's fine. You can use your given space here on tumblr for whatever you want and if you just want to post your ideas and move on then that's perfectly okay, but if that's your intention then don't try to maintain the illusion of debate. Regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, we are all better than this.
Collowrath just told me that many conservatives follow her.
Will conservatives throw her under the bus as they have leftybegone (who has similar posts to collowrath)?
