The reunion of lone wolves
Serena was walking in Heartland city. She heard about it from Shun and Yuzu, but she hadn't been gone here during the war. She bit her lips, looking around. Even when it was being rebuilt, it was still so terrible. She couldn't imagine why she wanted to be a part of ones who destroyed it. Then she stopped when saw a familiar figure. "Shun..." she whispered.

soft pillows enshrouded the skies of heartland, as light droplets fell to hit the pavement. streets filled with cars yelling to have their way. adults and students alike, letting out a sigh as they pulled out an umbrella or ran as quickly as they could to avoid the rain. most would find this weather to be quite trouble some indeed, but only a select few find the forecast to be a blessing.
Tired golden orbs fixed on a notebook, containing neatly taken notes on imagery within literature. Silence filled every inch of the Heartland Duel School Library, no one else was present aside from the librarian placing each book back their homes. Shun Kurosaki, Highest Scoring Spade Branch English student, was studying on this ‘gloomy’ day. That was before someone spoke to him of course. The Raid Raptors Duelist laid back and turned to his body left. He smiled to see his best friend Yuto came looking for him. Shun whispered, “Yeah…Just studying. Our English final is coming up soon.”
➤➤ The day had been rather ordinary up till now with nothing special happening at all. But that probably was to be expected. There wasn’t much happening at school at all beside the lessons that were boring most of the time - at least if you would ask Yuto. Said teen was currently wandering through the school looking for a person he hadn’t seen around since the last lesson they had together had ended. It wouldn’t be that impossible that his friend had already decided to head towards home but with the weather being as it was currently chances were high that Shun was still somewhere around waiting for him. Or just waiting for the rain to pass. Probably a combination of both.
In the end it took him a while to find the other teen and Yuto couldn’t tell if he was surprised to find him alone in the Library with some books scattered around him on the desk. Tilting his head slightly to the side the teen took a few steps closer, before speaking up carefully, not really wanting to surprise the other one too much. The smile Shun showed him was fast returned and Yuto found himself nodding slightly before his eyes focused on all of the notes again. “It is?” he asked rather surprised because honestly he was bothered enough with keeping up on the current tasks he had to do for school. Homework. Preparing for the next lessons. The dates of exams always easily slipped his mind. A reason why he was so grateful for the other one reminding him about them over and over again. “Is it this close already?”
Raidraptor - Final Fortress Falcon ———————————————— 3 Level 12 monsters If this card has a "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster as Xyz Material, it is unaffected by other cards' effects. Once per turn: You can detach 1 material from this card; return all your banished "Raidraptor" monsters to your GY. Up to twice per turn, when this attacking card destroys a monster by battle: You can banish 1 "Raidraptor" Xyz Monster from your GY; this card can attack again in a row. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Battles of Legend: Light's Revenge (BLLR-EN015)
Xyz Monsters remain one of the most unique card mechanics even with the later releases from their debut. While other summons will dispose of the used materials Xyz Monsters will keep them instead, allowing them to use them as currency for their abilities by detaching them or by carrying certain monsters. Additionaly their Rank stat is used to summon bigger creatures by various Rank-Up systems, letting them take shortcuts as they bring out some of the strongest Xyz Monsters in the game. Since their release Xyz Monsters became a staple choice for most Extra Decks, but those who truly invest in their possibilities can achieve powerful summons in no time.
"Raidraptor - Final Fortress Falcon" is the monster with the highest Rank among Raidraptors, becoming one of the main goals of the archetype to win games with. If "Final Fotress" carries a Raidraptor Xyz Monster as material it will gain immunity against all card effects, overall making it very tough to take down. If we detach a material, in return "Final Fortress" will bring back all banished Raidraptors to our Graveyard. This not only is to recycle after certain costs but also for its third effect, as by banishing a Raidraptor Xyz Monster from the Graveyard will be able to attack again after destroying a monster in battle. With solid stats and this last ability available twice each turn, "Final Fortress Falcon" can cause severe damage as its effect protection let us avoid most countermeasures.
Despite its massive Rank 12 and requiring three materials by default, "Final Fotress Falcon" is far easier to summon than might look. The Raidraptor archetype focuses on Rank-Up mechanics to use Xyz Monsters and summon each other, specially benefitial to obtain the protective ability of "Final Fotress Falcon" in the process. If you don't mind how many materials "Final Fortress" will arrive with "Raidraptor - Last Strix" can achieve its summon right from our first turn, summoning "Raidraptor - Ultimate Falcon" as we follow with "Rank-Up-Magic Skip Force" or "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force". In some cases is even possible to use a Xyz Monster from the Graveyard as "Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force" revives it for an immediate Rank-Up, while "Rank-Up-Magic Doom Double Force" can summon a just defeated Rank 6 Raidraptor to replace it with "Final Fortress" right away. In a similar way, "Raidraptor - Arsenal Falcon" can summon this monster once leaves the field, becoming a material of "Final Fortress" in the process to assure its protective effect.
With several tools at our disposition "Final Fortress" shouldn't take too long to arrive in our field, but given how their abilities work might be preferable to keep it until mid or late game. Thanks to cards such as "Raidraptor - Last Strix" and "Rank-Up-Magic Soul Shave Force" helping with its immediate arrival, "Final Fortress" will be saved for the final turns of a Duel as other Raidraptor Xyz Monsters take over in the meantime. This is because due its ability to attack up to three times in a single Battle Phase, using the disposed Xyz Raidraptors to take down as many monsters as possible while ignoring most counters the opponent might've thrown against it. The ability to retrieve banished Raidraptors not only assures this outcome, but can also reuse Graveyard effects like "Raidraptor - Mimicry Lanius" for further benefits.
"Raidraptor - Final Fortress Falcon" is a solid attacker as carries effect protection and a backup effect to assure its multiple attacks, yet won't be the most prevalent Raidraptor during a Duel. Despite its incredibly cheap Xyz Summon thanks to the tools the archetype provides, due requiring Xyz Raidraptors to attack several monsters "Final Fortress" will remain a late game monster to finish Duels even in the worst conditions. We could spend its material(s) to assure atleast one Xyz Monster to banish, but we might risk losing its protective effect specially if brought by the various shortcuts it will often rely on. While "Final Fortress" might not be a recurring Raidraptor compared to others, the archetype can depend in a single copy to take any opportunities to finish the opponent with its various abilities.
Personal Rating: B+
+ Unaffected by card effects if carries a Raidraptor Xyz Monster + Can retrieve banished Raidraptors to our Graveyard + Can attack up to three times if destroys monsters in battle and banishing an Xyz Raidraptor in the Graveyard + Very easy to summon
- Due its costs it will only be effective in late turns - We risk losing its protective effect if we detach materials - Other Raidraptors will take over during a Duel specially if we want to assure its several attacks
