Ray/Lily + "I've missed you"
(I return to taking ancient prompts and twisting the heck out of them. This one takes place in the future of the TNF verse that has been banging around the insides of my head)
"I've missed you," Ray says.
Lily flicks her eyes up towards him. Things between them have been...different. Whether it was Caitlin or Frost who kissed her and him helping Nora have made feelings complicated. She likes spending time with him and she thought she was tipping into the 'like like' zone of her feelings around him before all of it. And that was before she gained a very unwelcome guest in Kasnia.
"You whine too much," echoes in her brain right on cue.
"I've missed you too," Lily replied, tuning out her parasite. "Sorry, things have been...complicated."
"That's a word for it," Ray agreed. "Mind if I sit?"
She waved her hand towards the empty chair across from her seat at the table. Since Kasnia happened, Lily had been spending most of her time working on a research project. Gideon had set her up in the lab to do work with tools from her time and she'd been spending most of her time in there. If she ever got it published whenever she left, it would be a nice accomplishment.
Deep down, she knew why she was engaged in doing lab work suddenly. It was called avoidance. So much had changed for her and Jax's powers after everything on Earth-38. They were stronger together, but he could now fly independently and create flame without the merge while she couldn't. Then Kasnia happened and Lily found herself in a strange predicament. Technically merged but not powered up at all. Probably because the passenger was a ghost.
"We don't know what this is, silly girl. That's what you should be figuring out."
"Stop that."
Ray frowned at her.
"Sorry," Lily thought fast. "I thought my chair grated. I hate that noise it makes."
"Yeah," Ray nodded. "Hey, are we okay?"
"Leave now. I don't want to hear him ramble."
"We?"
Ray pointed at himself and then her. "I've been worried about you lately. Things feel-"
"Messy?" Lily filled in.
He nodded. "Lily, you're a really great person. You're a friend. And I do like you..."
Lily stopped listening. A cold feeling crept up her spine and over her shoulders. The same feeling she'd felt in Kasnia after something invisible slammed into her. Before she'd come to discover her parasite and started fighting for control of her own body.
"What are you doing?" she said aloud.
"He's too annoying. We're going to leave."
Ray stopped talking. "I'm confused."
Lily shook her head. Her limbs felt tingly. No, not this now. "Not you."
"I want control."
"No," Lily thought this time instead of saying it aloud. "No, you're not getting it. Stay down. Behave."
She knew why her body felt weird. It felt like when she was in Jax's head- control stopped being hers. She couldn't stop herself from standing up. Lily tried to call out to Ray, but her vocal cords stopped being hers.
"I'm taking over," Valentina Vostak snarled in her thoughts. "And we are leaving."

Not exactly the prompt, but hopefully the length makes up for the slight change!

When Lily had first found out she was pregnant Ray was still on the Waverider. But it wasn’t finding out alone that was so terrifying, it was the idea of telling Ray. They’d been dating a while, but a kid? Sure he’d said he loved her…but they’d never really discussed a future.
Needless to say the next time the Legends are on shore leave she’s anxious. Her parents are out to dinner and Ray is in the kitchen making them dinner in. She’s spent most of the evening in a different room, partly because the smells of cooking turn her stomach and partly because she still doesn’t know how to tell him.
“Dinner is served,” Ray states, grinning as he makes a sweeping motion from the where she sits on the couch toward the kitchen.
She forces a smile, rising and allowing him to lead her to the dining room. The table is set beautifully, two places set with an amazing looking meal and lit by candles in the center. He pulls out her chair, and she accepts gratefully. “Everything looks wonderful, Ray.”
“Thank you!” His smile makes her heart flutter as he takes a seat across from her. “I figure it’s been a while since we had a night to ourselves, may as well make it special.”
Oh, it will be special all right. She thinks absently, passing the glass of wine for a drink of water. They talk about her work and his most recent missions as they eat.
He’s explaining one of the incidents in the lab when he suddenly trails off, frowning at her. “Is something wrong?”
“What?” She looks up, trying to push down her panic. “Why would you think something is wrong?”
“You’ve hardly touched your meal.” He motions to where she’s merely moved food around her plate. “So either my cooking wasn’t good, or something is bothering you.” He shakes his head, “not to mention you’ve been pretty quiet all night.”
“I’m sorry, Ray.” Her gaze drops to where her hands fidget anxiously with the cloth napkin in her lap.
“Hey,” in only moments he’s kneeled next to her chair, shifting to catch her gaze. “Whatever it is, I’m sure we can figure it out.” He covers her hands with his, “you just have to tell me what’s going on.”
He’s looking up at her with such concern, such openness, that it hurts. “I’m pregnant.” The words come tumbling out, “about 8 weeks, it’s yours.”
Raily + “why are you so stubborn?”
“I know my Disney—“
“Clearly not very well!”
Ray threw his hands up in the air. “Whyare you so stubborn?”
“Why do you keep insisting you’reright when you’re horribly wrong?”
Ray gaped at Lily. “I am not.”
Lily sighed and shook her head. “Youreally are, Ray. It’s okay. It happens.”
Rather than reply right away, Raynarrowed his eyes. “Is this because I’m a guy? Because you’re better than that,Lily Stein.”
“Of course I’m better than that,”Lily exclaimed, looking offended. “I don’t care if you’re a guy who likesDisney, Ray. That’d be completely hypocritical since Cisco and I have Disneynight every Sunday.” Sometimes Barry joined them and Lily could sincerely saythat watching Cisco Ramon and Barry Allen sing Hakuna Matata as they danced infront of the couch was an experience that everyone should get the chance tohave. “I’m being stubborn on this because you’re wrong. Obviously.” Off of hisskeptical look, she added, “Call Cisco if you don’t believe me.”
“Done!” Ray pulled out his phone andquickly dialed Cisco, putting the phone on speaker. “Cisco,” he said, “I’ve gota question for you.”
“Shoot! I’ve probably got an answer!”
“At the end of Sleeping Beauty, is her dress pink or blue?”
Cisco sighed. “And here I thoughtyou were going to give me a challenge. Pink, man. Everyone knows that.”
Ray gave the phone a betrayed look. “What? They do not! It’s blue!”
“Bro,” Cisco said, “why do you thinkall Princess Aurora merchandise shows her in a pink dress?”
“Idiotic gender roles!”
“You poor soul.”
Lily groaned. “That’s it! We’resettling this the way we should have from the start. Cisco, impromptu Disneynight!"
“I’ll grab Barry and snacks and bethere in no time,” Cisco assured them excitedly.
Which turned out to be true.
Because he made Barry run them overby telling him there was an important debate to be settled and he and Barryneeded to be there. For science.
Multiple things happened atimpromptu Disney night.
Barry and Cisco did a dramaticrendition of Once Upon A Dream.
Ray got dragged into said renditionsomehow while Lily laughed and ate popcorn.
And Ray learned that Lily wasdefinitely right when she paused the movie just before the book was closing atthe end and showed him that the dress was, in fact, pink at the end of themovie.
“You know what this means, don’tyou, Ray?” Lily asked.
“That you were right and I waswrong?” Ray sighed.
She laughed. “Well, that too. But itjust means you need to refresh your Disney knowledge.” She glanced up at himand smiled. “Which means you should join us on Disney night from now on.”
“I’ll be there,” Ray said, grinningback at her.
Cisco fought the urge to groan. These two were going to be worse than Barry and Iris, he could just tell.
Pet Store - Raily
“Would you just...”
Iris doesn’t know why she’s even bothering. Lily is obviously not budging, not even an inch, and attempting to pull her by her wrist is only causing an embarrassing scene.
“No!” Her friend insists defiantly, keeping her feet planted firmly on the pavement and God, how can someone so short and skinny be so hard to move?
“No, I am not going into that store! I refuse to look at the puppies cooped up behind glass with nowhere to run.”
“You don’t have to look at the puppies.” Iris says with a roll of her eyes. “Look at the fish, they’re in a big enough tank, and not nearly as excitable.”
The glare Lily gives is thoroughly unimpressed, not to mention unconvinced.
“Whatever.” She says, “I’m going in. The twins’ guinea pig needs litter and this place is having a going out of business sale.”
----------------------------
Lily is more than content to wait outside the store. She’s leaned against the front wall on her phone, swiping through Pinterest, and all-in-all not paying much attention to the sidewalk around her.
“Hey!” She hears the shout, looks up from her phone, and the next thing she knows her vision is a blur of golden fur and she’s on the ground.
“Hey! No, bad dog! Atom no! No!” She hears the frantic calling and somewhere between her lightly shoving the dog away and someone else pulling at it’s collar she sees a man with chocolate brown eyes and dark black hair crouched in front of her and struggling to hold back a very excitable golden retriever.
“I am so sorry Miss.” He apologizes hurriedly, attempting to hold out a hand to help her up but as soon as it’s off the dog he starts losing control.
“It’s fine.” She laughs, “I’m fine.”
The man looks relieved at that, though his dog hasn’t calmed down much.
“I am so sorry about that.” He says, again. “I guess I’m not off to the greatest start with this whole having a dog thing, huh?”
She chuckles, “I hear it’s a learning curve.” She says, and as she does the dog jumps again, but this time the man manages to hold him back enough so that he doesn’t take her out.
“Hello,” she laughs, scratching at the dog’s ears. “I know, you’re so excited! You can move out here!”
The man chuckles and pulls the leash lightly, trying to get the dog down, but of course it doesn’t work and he remains on his hind legs and leaning against her middle.
“Yeah.” The man blushes, “I’m uh... I’m not really a big pet store guy, but they’re going out of business and I don’t know what’s going to happen to him when they do...”
She hums, still petting the dog’s head. She isn’t so anti-pet store that she would completely write him off for getting a dog there on a normal day, though it would be a turn off.
“I’m Ray.” He eventually splutters out, “And uh, this is Atom.”
He gestures to the dog still hugging her, loving all the attention he’s getting.
“Lily.” She introduces, and that is when she hears someone clearing their throat behind her.
She turns to find Iris, paper bag in hand an eyebrow raised, waiting by the door and she blushes.
“And that’s my ride.”
She detaches Atom from her and bids both him and Ray goodbye, and then heads off with Iris.
“You know...” Iris drawls knowingly when they are barely out of Ray’s earshot. “Single guys usually walk their dogs around the park in this city, in case you’re interested in seeing those two again.”
