Local goblin gets an unexpected response
Did I just get out of the shower here? No. This damp mop head is the result of a rain run (I LOVE RAIN RUNS). I promised myself that after Cowtown, I'd actually follow a plan for the Oklahoma City half. So I'm lying there on the couch today, in silence, and Lanny comes in, "Are you running today?" *siiiiiiiiigh* "I should." "Go run. Get it over with and then we can chill." More sighing. "GIRL. Go run." 5 miles in the rain with @ironmq. Sunday Funday on the pavement. I'll take it. Good night, all.

I was asked a serious question the other day with the expectation of giving a serious response. I don't want to share the question because I don't want to share the response. I start to put a lot out there. And then... Backspace. Type a little more... Backspace. And then, Cancel. It's hard reliving some things. Some moments. And it never goes away. It just gets easier. But I will say this: it's good. It's very good. I've said it before and I'll say it again... It took shit to make bliss. Lots of shit over time lead up to this moment right above... Running 4 miles in the pouring rain and laughing along the way. And being excited to go home and share that moment. In that moment, right above, I was very happy. And I couldn't wait to share it with you.
I went for a rain run for the first time in years and it was liberating

my pops and i went for a little run workout today in the rain. we left in the morning to go do it, assuming it was going to rain all day. it didn't. i swear the only part it rained during was when we were outside running. it was a lot of fun though. i love my dad and the rain and running.
Ok I know you can't really tell but it is excessively rainy and we rain 4.4 km in it this morning very early. Proud of us for not giving up!
Week 1 Day 2 - Come rain or shine (mostly rain)
Gave myself a few days off between runs due to heel blisters but dragged myself out this morning! Got ready, grabbed my shoes and... it's tipping it down. I don't mean a quick shower, I mean the kind of rain that seeps through your waterproof, stings your skin, creates puddles deeper than your ankles in an hour... The kind of rain that you see people running in and think they're idiots or crazy or fanatical. .. So what did I do? I went and got soaked to the skin. I ran and it was epic. My trainers and clothes are soaked, my thighs sting as they're warming back up, I don't dare take a shower yet as it's always too hot and I'm cold. But I went out and I ran. I laughed as I ran. I felt pure joy at being that crazy idiot running alone in the rain. I even half laughed when my trainers turned out not to be very waterproof (remind me to stuff them with newspaper). I'm actually proud of myself. I had the drive to get up and go do it when so many people (including me, right up until I did it) would have waited until it stopped, or for tomorrow, or stayed inside. I can't wait for the next one!
