Based on the new footage for season 8b of 9-1-1 only slight spoilers.
I saw the parallels and couldn't help but think of this. (220 words, not read over, just words.)
Evan Buckley used to love the rain- he would often sit on the ledge of his window with his hand stretched out to catch the raindrops falling from the sky. It was a comfort to him. His favourite used to be when the sky would get all dark and he would have to move his hand inside because the droplets are so violent and cold.
Now, the comfort is nowhere to be found. Not when he lost Eddie three times during the rain. The first was at the well, when the rain did nothing but make the situation worse, would make it impossible to get to his best friend.
Then it was the lightening strike- he doesn't know how he felt then because it happened too fast but he swore as he fell he locked eyes with Eddie, even when they were a whole truck ladder apart.
And now, standing in the rain after just saying goodbye to Eddie, he watched while the weather wet his clothes and made them cling to his body as he could only stare at the place where he last saw Eddie's uhaul before it was driven away- now only replace by a pubble.
So, Buck doesn't like the rain, because the moment that the first drop hits his skin, he never felt more alone.
