The secret of the infinite is that it’s blue.
(pavlo was floating alone, meditating and contemplating the world when a stranger in a prismatic technicolored outfit and hat; which covered their face so you can’t see it. Approached him.)
rainbow hat: excuse me.
Pavlo: yes my son.
rainbow hat: I’m told. . . You know everything.
Pavlo: ah! Are you seeking the secret of existence?
rainbow hat: that will do, for a start.
Pavlo: *chuckle* the secret of existence is to distain earthly ties, from the illusion of material worth and seek oneness with the infinite.
rainbow hat: oh i've seen the infinite, it's. . . nothing special.
pavlo: don't be daft, you can't see the infinite, it's. . . infinite.
rainbow hat: . . . i have.
pavlo: alright then. . . what did it look like?
rainbow hat: it's blue.
pavlo: it's black.
rainbow hat: it's blue.
pavlo: it's black.
rainbow hat: from the outside it's blue, believe me.
pavlo: look. . . my son, what exactly is it that you want, i haven't got all day.
rainbow hat: why do things have to be the way they are?
pavlo: ah. . . uh. . . wwwweeeellll umm. . . mmm. . .
rainbow hat: you don't know do you.
pavlo: not. . . exactly, the whole thing is meant to be a mystery see.
rainbow hat: oh well then i will ask you a simpler question, how do humans forget?
pavlo: forget what?
rainbow hat: anything. . . i remember everything. . . do you understand?
pavlo: well. . . traditionally the ways, of forgetting include drinking the waters of some magical river or other, joining the Klatchian Foreign Legion or ahh. . . inviting vast amounts of alcohol!
rainbow hat: aaahhhh yes~
pavlo: but alcohol debilities the body and is a poison to the soul!
rainbow hat: sounds good to me~~
i just bought this hat but honestly all i can think about is maxie boy wearing this ok???
behold, the power of cute
Is this one of my favorite hats I've ever made? Yes! And it can be yours for $35. It was made with Tunisian crochet and acrylic yarn. Personally, I think the colors are very autumnal.
If you're interested, you can buy it from my Etsy shop, Widget's Apparel. There's a link to my shop in my pinned post and the notes of this post.
EVERYONE STOP BREAKING NEWS!!
Look at his little hat!!!! The bebe!! He!!!!
just listed this hat in my shop 👀
Let's make a rainbow hat 🌈
I've knitted this fantastic (if I may say so myself!) rainbow pride hat for my friend @wuselwesen. They are making me something else in exchange for it - we're doing a neat private crafty swap!! :D
[id]Picture 1: a knitted swatch of what was supposed to be 10cm of knit, but turned out too small and thus I had to adjust the whole pattern! Picture 2: Too many rows of green knitted, before I realised I've started the rim of the hat wrong...[/id]
I was good enough to do a swatch this time (as you always should, but aren't we all guilty of skipping swatches??) but completely misunderstood how to start the rim of the hat.. You're supposed to knit it on the round, not sew together at the end (which I thought first). Lots of frogging!!
[id]Picture 3: All the rainbow yarn (and some additional sock yarn for Christmas) in my recently thrifted artsy bag.
Picture 4: The green rim of the hat has been knitted (correctly on the round this time!) and the rainbow begins, with purple, blue, green and now a row of yellow![/id]
I had to make sure the hat would be big enough, as I was modifying the pattern (my yarn was not as thick as the yarn the pattern used), so I tried it on for size halfway through.
[id]Picture 5: A tilted selfie close-up of a rainbow hat being tried on, with the wooden needles sticking out funnily above the young white woman's face. The rim of the hat is the rainbow part, while the body of the hat is being knitted in black yarn.
Picture 6: It's time for the rounds of reductions at the black top of the hat! I didn't have enough stitch markers, so I made some out of dark orange/reddish yarn (just some knotted loops). All the various stitch markers look very busy, but also cheerful.
Picture 7: The (almost) finished black rainbow hat! The black body of the hat forms a kind of bulb shape (like from a flower) and the rim is knitted in rainbow colours. The green part of the rim has been foldd to the inside, it's meant for reinforcement.[/id]
The hat is only almost finished in the picture because I still have to sew in all the ends and sew the inner green rim part down!
