🙏- Eddie's internalized Catholic Guilt as told through flashbacks to his secret high school boyfriend
Eddie looked up from where he was resting, slumped over the kitchen table. At some point, Bobby had made his way over to him, but Eddie had been too lost in his thoughts to notice.
“Hey Bobby,” He lifted his head from where it had been resting on his crossed arms, acknowledging the older man with a nod. “Did you need me to help with something?”
“Actually, I was hoping we could chat.” Bobby lowered himself into the chair across from Eddie cautiously, as if Eddie were a wild animal prone to bolting at the first sign of danger.
Eddie quirked an eyebrow at him curiously, “usually Buck’s the one you call kid.”
Bobby waved his hand dismissively, “you’re all my kids in one way or another.”
The thought made Eddie feel warm, he and Bobby had had their share of disagreements, but then, they always did work them out. That was more than he could say about himself and his own father.
“Chim? Chim, can you hear me?” Buck shouted through the thick smoke that surrounded him. They were in the middle of a house fire, and the two of them had gone back in together to rescue a baby that had been left behind in its crib.
“I’m here!” Chim called from somewhere on Buck’s left. “I think I found the crib, but it’s empty-”
“Buckley, Han, report.” Bobby’s voice crackled over the radio.
“We’re here,” Chim responded immediately, his voice hiding the franticness with which he had been searching for the baby. “But the crib is empty.”
“Affirmative, Hen was able to grab the baby on her way out- everyone is safe and accounted for. But I need the two of you to get out ASAP, the roof is going to go any moment.
Buck grabbed his radio, bringing it close to his mouth. “Got it, Cap, we’re on our way.”
Bobby’s reply was immediate, and if Buck hadn’t been serving under the captain for nearly a decade, he might have missed the apprehension present in his voice. “Hurry, Diaz and Wilson are attending to the victims; they could use some backup.”
Grabbing Chim’s sleeve, Buck yanked his fellow firefighter closer as they began to maneuver to the exit. They got about ten feet when the ceiling collapsed down on them.

“Yes! It would be crazy!” Buck said vehemently, still scrubbing at the spot where the turmeric had hit the counter, although the yellow had finally faded. “We’re coworkers, and best friends, and like I told Maddie, he’s straight!”
Chim was thoughtful, “So if Eddie wasn’t straight, you’d go for it?” He crossed his arms in a silent display of triumph, throwing a cocky look Buck’s way.
“That’s not what I said!” Buck spluttered. “And did you miss the part where I said we were best friends? Even if I did hypothetically have feelings for Eddie, why would I want to throw that away?”
Chim just gave him another knowing look, “I mean, according to Tumblr user “firehosechuck”, “the best relationships are built on a solid best-friendship and history of mutual respect and admiration.”
Buck whipped around faster than the speed of sound, “How do you know about my Tumblr!?”
