Rajasic understanding fails to know right from wrong, when from when not to act, what should from what should not be done. Understanding is tamasic when, thickly covered in darkness, it imagines that wrong is right and sees the world upside down.

Ayurvedic Philosophies Relating to Food

I’ve been reading about Sattvic, Rajasic and Tamasic foods - three distinct Ayurvedic food groups that are good, could-be-better and not-so-good , respectively.

For those of us embarking into new and challenging things , diet is tremendously important and just overall it is good to eat with some intention in mind!

You took #Rajasic (passionate) and #Tamasic (stale or bad) foods, You took meat, fish and eggs; You were not regular in doing #exercise, You did not do #Pranayama (breathing exercises) and #Asanas (#Yoga exercises), You did not #pray and #meditate, You were immoderate in taking food, You did not bask in the #sun, You slept in ill-ventilated rooms, You took too much of sweetmeats, You drank impure #water, You hated and injured your neighbors, You were lustful, malicious and greedy, And so suffered strokes and #heart attacks, You #married a third time, You were a heavy smoker in the club, You drank #liquor and took #drugs, You took bribes and cheated, You twisted the #truth in courts And thereby sent innocent men to prison, You charged your patients heavily – And so I come to #heal, to #teach, to #guide. #Understand now at least My #secret and good #nature, My interest in your well-being; Practice simple living and high thinking, Observe the laws of health and hygiene, Adopt a well-balanced, #vegetarian diet, Practice non-injury, truth and celibacy, Read holy books and scriptures, #Love all and be kind to all, Forgive and forget quickly, Serve all with affection, See the #Lord in all, Repeat the #Divine Name at all times – It will protect and guide you, Then I will depart and leave you I will not trouble you any longer. #eljahelyon #livedacademy

The art of doing nothing is--to be honest--not easy. My mind loves to wander around to the future, and often feel that I waste my time by not doing anything 😂 In #Ayurveda, this shows how my mind has a more #rajasic / desire-full tendency, rather than #tamasic / clinging on to the past. • The food that I eat is one of the main source on how it affect the characteristic in me. The more rajasic food that I eat, the more i have rajasic quality in me. Like increases like, they say in Ayurveda. • One of the way that I do to reduce the endless desires and too much thinking of the future is through reducing Chili intake, which has bring down a lot of my rajasic quality. And it was super difficult to say to no Chili! 😢 • #zimmokimmo #thailand
