#Repost • @colvinology Bad Acid, an 8.5% farmhouse ale from Rake Beer Project (@rakebeerproject) conditioned on pineapple and mango purée, and the Master Grade Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex . This one is positively bursting with aromas of pineapple juice and fresh, ripe mangoes, as well as a noticeable barnyard funk that rides in on the back of the pineapple. The sip actually caught me off-guard here! The body is almost champagne fizzy, and you're immediately hit with a quick sucker punch of tartness. This mellows fairly quickly into a beautiful mixture of sweet mango and acidic pineapple, but lingers at the back of the palette like bitterness would in a west coast IPA. That farmhouse flavor also makes an appearance towards the end, lending a nice funkiness to the finish. Did I buy this solely because I loved the label? Absolutely. But let's be honest, in what world would a pineapple mango farmhouse ale taste bad?? (beer purists don't interact 😂.) Now, this is incredibly delicious, but as I sip it, I can't help but think it's called Bad Acid because I'm about to experience a heretofore unseen level of acid reflux misery 😂...but oh well, because I'm DEFINITELY slamming this one. . Also, listen. I love the Unicorn Phenex, it looks amazing...but the original MG Unicorn, which this is based on, is one of, if not THE worst Master Grader ever made. It's almost impossible to get these guys into a good pose, so most of the work when taking pictures is just finding an angle where it doesn't look like a gold-plated newborn fawn. Would I pay $400 for an MGEX Phenex? No. But they should make one anyway. As an apology 😂.
