The Ram Bagh is said to have been constructed by Babur in the 16th Century. The original name of the bagh was 'Aram Bagh', which was later corrupted to Ram Bagh under the Marathas when they occupied Agra from 1775 to 1803 AD. It is said that Babur was briefly interred in this garden before he was finally laid to rest in his tomb in Kabul. It was however given its present form by the wife of the Mughal King Jahangir, Nur Jahan.
