ever thought about how things were much chiller when Community Update was up? the latest one being, like, FIVE YEARS AGO? when the devs would openly tell us about their yearly plans and interact with the community in ways everyone felt included? like. why did they ever stop with the user made tooltips, the community colored familiars? my goooood how we need a coliseum skin drawing party rn.
I think the current staff-userbase dynamic feels a bit too one sided, and even tho it does work with other sites/games, the initial power that the community had on the site made it feel so special, something i feel we lost quite a bit

(or, for the sake of not deviating the whole story altoghether bc either way David was meant to be king at some point. What if like, Jonathan had gone into hidding like what happened to Mephibosheth and later on met with David to tell him that, hey, he's actually alive so :D. Honestly im just asking bc the idea of Jonathan teaching Jedediah/Solomon how to court and judge others got stuck to my head when I was writting my Testament of Solomon rewritte and that got me to think even more like, would Jonathan get along with Abigail, would David had stopped seeking out women to marry if Jonathan had run away with him, would Absalom or the other childre of David had confided secrets in him more than with his father because they trusted him more, or would the court had tried to make Jonathan guilty of a coup at some point, maybe a lot of times, due to his past royal background, and ofc how would Jonathan have raised his son?)

My headcanon would be if Jonathan had lived, his and David's relationship would have continued to be romantic and supportive!
I think Jonathan would first go into hiding and try to find his son first. Mephibosheth would still become disabled due to all the chaos when the news comes to the palace. But I don't think they would go into hiding for too long. Abner was supportive to Saul’s family first, heck, he probably would see David as a threat towards Jonathan instead.
And when they reunite, Jonathan would have either stepped down from his role as the next king or maximized David's status, so they would essentially be two kings ruling one kingdom. He did give an oath and his title as king to David when they last met each other, so it would make sense that he kept his word.
David would still pursue other marriages for political alliances, likewise Jonathan too. However, I do believe that David wouldn't take Michal back because the only reason why he forced her to be his wife again was that he pretty much wanted to secure his political position as a king. Having Jonathan there on his side already supporting him, it wouldn't be necessary to marry her. All his other wives, I think he would still marry them for political reasons. Bathsheba though… I don't think he would seek her out… Or maybe David would. For me, he is a bit promiscuous. But I do like the idea that he wouldn't be as interested if Jonathan were still around.
There is a scene in The Prince's Psalm where David and Jonathan talk to each other about their boundaries in their relationship. Jonathan wants children, but he doesn't want to pick a random woman only to discard her after giving birth to a child, he wants to honor his children's mother by marrying her and taking care of her. But also secured David by saying that it's okay for him as well to marry and love another woman too, but ended with the decision that they are not allowed to take any male lovers.
It sounds fun that Jonathan would be friends with Abigail. Maybe they are two peas in a pod because David picked Abigail for love, unlike the other wives. And Abigail is the same "type" as Jonathan. That would be cute.
I do think that the majority of the royal drama would be more about people not trusting David. The second book of Samuel is just David getting rid of all his political enemies and marrying every high-royal-woman to secure his position. The reason why Saul's other family members, such as Jonathan's half-brothers, revolt against David is that they are the "true" line of the royal lineage. So if Jonathan was still in the picture and became king, then that drama of power wouldn't be so much on the nose.
Absalom and David's other children might have indeed confided in Jonathan, finding solace and other stuff when David wasn't emotionally available. Especially when Amnon attacks Tamar and everything just crumbles. Maybe the situation would look different when David forgives Absalom for killing Amnon, and by having another parental figure, maybe Absalom wouldn't decide to revolt against his father?
And if Absalom still decided to revolt against David, Mephibosheth would still be left behind in safety in the royal palace. And I don't think that the servant Ziba would be able to trick David into "disowning" Mephibosheth when Absalom takes over the palace. I don't think Jonathan would ever let that happen, but also David and Mephibosheth's relationship would be different in a way. I have a headcanon that David is very overprotective of Mephibosheth but he also puts him on a pedestal, so when someone lies about him, David immediately believes that lie because he actually doesn't really know who Mephibosheth actually is.
But that is all I have to say for now! I probably missed some thoughts I would like to bring up. But my brain is empty at the moment!
As the halfway point of the season rapidly approaches, the 63 minute runtime of 3x06 'Sunflowers' is already causing chaos.
This is a workplace comedy! Episodes used to be 30 minutes long!
I'm going to tell you something that may just blow your mind.
Ted Lasso is not a workplace comedy. It's genre-bending, subversive television disguised as a workplace comedy.
In the beginning, it was marketed as feel-good television. A fun little sports rom-com show we can all be inspired and amused by. Season 3 is not the same peppy, happy, quickfire comedy we once knew. Because it isn't meant to be. The progression of the story has taken us to a darker place. There are new characters to get acquainted with. The tone of the show has changed to reflect Ted's journey.
These things take time to set up. When you have a lot more to say, you need a lot more time to say it.
Production was delayed to accommodate rewrites, making it clear that there's a larger story to be told. That being said, season 3 is still sticking to a 12 episode run in line with previous seasons. Considering the level of detail put into the show, that's quite an achievement.
When you compare this season to the previous two, the level of impatience some viewers are feeling is understandable. The pacing is different, there are more lingering shots, and the longer runtime packs a lot of punch in one sitting, leaving us all frazzled husks of the viewers we once were as we try to process the events of each episode.
The last TV show that crushed our brains to mush and threw the rulebook out the window was, of course, Twin Peaks.
Twin Peaks had a major influence on Brett Goldstein's creative direction, so if we look at Ted Lasso through a Lynchian lens, what do we get?
The Twin Peaks pilot episode was filmed as a standalone TV special. It was an intense 94 minute event that led to three seasons filled with weird and wonderful stuff. The episodes were long, the pacing was slow, and each episode subverted expectations. It was a tantalizing melange of familiar tv tropes injected with darkness.
When The Return finally aired in 2017 after production delays (Lynch pushed for 18 episodes as opposed to a more palatable 10 for mainstream television) it was somewhat divisive. It was longer, slower, there were new characters and plotlines that took us away from everything we once knew Twin Peaks to be.
Some critics said it felt like a different show. What those critics failed to realize - much like the reaction to Ted Lasso s3 thus far - is that it was a different show. The Return was an old familiar story told from another perspective.
Ted Lasso s3 is doing the exact same thing. It's telling us Ted's story through his eyes.
Just as Lynch & Frost did with The Return, Ted Lasso s3 gives us a glimpse into the lives of our beloved Richmond gang with a new twist, whilst retaining the core DNA of the show.
In the words of The Log Lady -
"We live in a world where nothing is simple. Each day, just when we think we have a handle on things, suddenly some new element is introduced and everything is complicated once again [...] Are our appetites, our desires undermining us?"
The expectation that we're always going to get perfectly palatable bitesize television like we did in the halcyon days of lockdown box set binges is ruining our ability to turn on, tune in and drop out. This season is a reminder that patience is a virtue.

I considered this quite a while and have to face that I can only answer this in a lame way XD
I don’t really have any favorite Malec scenes. I love both Alec and Magnus and I love to see them interact (with each other or other characters) and honestly any type of scene is good because it reveals details about them, how they think and feel, and that’s all I care about.
The only type of Malec scene I don’t enjoy are shitty make up scenes like in 2x13 with collecting the DNA sample or 2x20 with The Soul Sword Affair because these scenes totally missed the point and weren’t a satisfactory resolution to anything. (Example for a good make up scene would be 2x01 when Alec apologizes for snapping at Magnus earlier in the episode.)
Apart from that though any Malec scene is Good, as far as I am concerned. Yes, I even enjoy their fight scenes. The one where Magnus finds out Alec knew about the Soul Sword in 2x17? Amazing. Their Immortality Fight in 3x06? Delicious.
I love Dorky/Hilarious Malec. I will never not cry about them breaking into Lorenzo’s mansion in 3x02 or the kitchen scene in 3x03 where Alec chugs that wine glass or Magnus’s face when Izzy suggests he should be there for the dinner.. or that absolutely priceless “You’re actually jealous!” scene from 3x15. I just love their faces, okay.
I love Dramatic Malec. Magnus leaving for Edom in 3x10. Of course That Wedding Scene from 1x12.. or That Wedding Scene from 3x20, it’s so epic, especially the end when Magnus seals the rift (even if the way Magnus dives into that portal still makes a serious dent in my enjoyment of the scene because it’s so hideous lol).
I love Supportive Malec. 3x02 be like “You’re the furthest thing from a Greater Demon” just kill me wtf, or 3x04: “Do I need to force-feed you?” and that damn shoulder touch!!
I absolutely adore Soft Malec. The morning after scene from 2x18/2x07 is so pretty, and their first drinks when Magnus is not cryptic but coy in 1x06? Beautiful.
I even love Angsty Malec, like their breakup scenes (and it kills me that I can use plural here, lol) or that heart-wrenching thing that was 3x17. Top-notch.
The reason I can’t pick ten favorite scenes is that 1) I couldn’t rank those scenes because they’re so different. It’s like asking if I prefer sleeping or eating pizza, you know? Not really comparable things.And 2) to me a favorite scene is something that I watch randomly, out of context, just because I feel like it…. and that doesn’t actually apply to any of these scenes. I generally rewatch whole episodes / consecutive scenes of a plotline. I only ever watch a single scene when I want to write something about it and have to study the details.
The closest to a favorite scene I have in Shadowhunters is probably the 3A finale because that thing where they banish Lilith is so epic and I love it to bits… and Malec don’t even feature in that scene. Clearly I’m an embarrassment to the fandom hahaha.

Headcanons and extra under the cut
It's a shame how little we know about the nature of the substances that make up the ocean. We just know that it's "confirmed" human blood + fluid, which isn't a lot and not very specific (mainly because human blood isn't just a homogeneous liquid, it consists of plasma, cells or fragments of cells and a lot of other junk to be brief). We also don't know if it has any oxygen/carbon dioxide content or even a type, which could give hints at how the entities living in the ocean function or where the blood is coming from. There's a good chance that the monsters themselves make the blood the ocean consists of and it acts as a very weird and open circulatory system. Also, in this case it makes a lot of sense that Ava would go for the bone sample first and then even want to study the monster itself. Any traces of human genetic material in AT-5's fauna would explain the origin of the blood. And the reason for why the blood stays liquid could be that there's no fibrin (clotting factor) in it and it's constantly very thin (not sure how it would hypothetically behave in AT-5's environment though, I'm not that smart - -").
I don't entirely believe the fluid part of the makeup though, because of how the blood behaves in the film. When Simon pulls back the bandages on his forearms, it's pretty obvious that contact with the blood has caused changes to his tissues. That could mean there's some mutagenic or toxic factors present. Also, when enough of the substance seeps into the sub, it starts forming solid, complex structures, reaching for Simon, trying to engulf him. It also acts as sentient as the entities, either working symbiotically or even as one with them. I think the entirety of the ocean is one giant organism, think like a slime mold and the entities are all linked the network of it, working almost as organs, helping the ocean devour and make more blood. One needs resources to make the blood out of after all and not taking advantage of easy prey (think the convict, SM-8's crew poking around uninvited and Ava) is an opportunity lost for fresh matter to join the grand cycle. It's only part of nature, however much the Quiet Rapture might've twisted it, and it's entirely possible that AT-5 has some sort of geothermal activity helping run the whole thing as an energy input (the ocean does after all seem to get warm in it's deeper portions), stirring the organic soup that it is. And the toxic stuff could be waste products that have not yet been broken down to be reused for further synthesis or even something coming from original AT-5 itself.
