What if we’re in a space opera and the script is dooming us!!! But we’re hating on the script together😳

29: calling security, keeping my head held down
The Expositor has been acting suspicious, Wulf says.
The sea, the stars, the dreamers off hiatus we’re so back!!!
update on tStStD! (plus discord nonsense)
Just a heads-up for anyone who’s still alive out there: I plan to resume regular updates of the sea, the stars, the dreamers on September 28th. If you’ve forgotten what the hell it’s even about because it’s been two years without consistent updates, or if you fell behind and have been planning on catching up at some point, you’ve got a week-ish to get up to speed. Also! I’ve opened up a section of my notes/brainstorming Discord server to the public. It is not intended as a general-purpose social space—you won’t find any channels for Campaign 4 discussion or pet photos—but if you’re interested in exchanging conspiracy theories about what the fuck is actually going on in tStStD, want to liveblog a re-read, have sea shanty recommendations (I need one more!) or just want to chat about it, the public invite link is here. (Channels for my other writing projects will likely be opened up at some point in the future, assuming this doesn't all go horribly.)

38: I’ll be my own escape route
ACT FOUR. SCENE FIVE. An apparent shipwreck off the shores of Mutalos, the deck listing and partially submerged, with crates and other debris drifting across the stage.
Enter THE VILLAIN and several underlings, stage left.

39: no light anywhere and nothing left to burn
THE EXPOSITOR The powerful reside in secrecy, Their institutions work without constraint. They breed corruption. If you kill him now, It looks like just another violent act Without recourse. If we expose him, he Is raked across the coals of public court.
THE SAILOR Now, I think you should kill him—but, I doubt You care. I think you care what he thinks, though.
THE EXPOSITOR Do not make him the hero of your tale. Do not make him the hero of your tale.

36: I’ve gotten good at leaning on metaphors
“Surely someone in the Dynasty is familiar with the concept of polyamory.” The words are objectively true even if the implications are not, and it’s the easiest cover story, given her current predicament. It would be easier if were the truth, on both a political and personal level. (She wants to take Essek apart, which isn’t unusual; she wants to put him back together afterwards, which is.)
So I’ve been rereading the sea the stars, the dreamers by @nonwal
Space Opera! Intrigue! Jenga! If I had a nickel every time I read a fic where Astrid threw a knife near Essek’s head!
