I’ll start with something my mom always told us as kids. “Always wear clean underwear!”
Be careful of those who simply wants to harm your soul just because they can't get enough of it, wanting to mold you in their so many thousand ways their own criterion—an obsession went beyond their heads, stirring airs of dissatisfaction of who they are and they simply want to project their own waste on you.

Sometimes I feel bad about obsessively drawing only things related to my interests over and over again instead of more widely appreciated, ‘not cringe’ stuff like landscapes or something.
But then, I have to remind myself that it’s a whole lot better than repressing my interests and making soulless art with no love in it. I don’t fucking care if only drawing fanart is ‘cringe’ if it makes you excited to do something creative, make as much god damn fanart as you want. Creativity and passion is good for you!
Hey, so if you ever have to have a medical procedure done, don’t be afraid to take your comfort item and ask the nurse to keep it with you as much as possible.
I first learned this was allowed when my dad had his knees replaced. He’d been recently diagnosed with PTSD from his military service, and we were concerned how he might react to coming anesthesia. So we took one of his grounding objects, and told the nurse what was up, and she took the object and made sure it was in his hand before they woke him up. (He had no memory of the first hour or three, but at the time he said he was glad to have the object with him.)
This week, I had to have a fairly invasive preventative procedure done. After what happened with my dad, I took my bear with me (the bear is 35 and has slept in my bed every day of his life) and asked the anesthesiologist if the bear could follow me and be there when I woke up. Turns out, they wanted me awake for the whole thing so I could hold my breath periodically.
(Side note, anesthesiologists are incredible. Their whole job is to make the patient comfortable, so if you have to be awake for a procedure … They’ll chat with you, give you updates on the procedure, you can ask them to adjust the meds and they will. Mine even made sure I was buried in heated blankets. 10/10 great to have during a procedure.)
Anyways. Comfort items.
Nobody said one word about a grown woman wanting a bear with me. They let me keep him throughout the entire procedure. The anesthesiologist took change of the bear and had to move him a couple times, but he stayed under the sterile drape with me where I could see him. For most of the procedure, I could turn my head and bump my cheek against his fur.
Because I asked.
So if you ever have to have surgery, don’t be afraid to take a comfort item and ask the nurse to keep it with you. Depending on the delicacy of the procedure and degree of sedation, they might not always allow your comfort item in the OR, but they can throw it in a bag and give it to you in post-op. (Which often is the scariest part anyways because you’re waking up from sedation in a place you’ve never been before.)
neurodivergent hack: if u're getting extremely antsy and hyperactive, just run around a little and like. sit on the floor. IT FEELS RLLY STUPID FOR ME TO BE REALIZING THIS BUT IT GENUINELY WORKS AND NOBODYS TOLD ME IT BEFORE.
Give me your adult wisdom
Hm- Pft- my ‘adult’ wisdom.
I learned growing up (and I’m honestly still growing up) that it really takes less effort to be kind, and loving, than to be hateful. You have a choice, every day, every instance, to let those bad things that come your way affect you. Yeah things get shitty, yeah things suck sometimes and sometimes it’s completely out of your control. But you can choose, to still find the little bit of light in everyday. Even if that little bit is something as small as, ‘Hey. The sun still came to say hi to me today.’ Not to say whatever you might be going through doesn’t matter, it does. It affects you, therefore it matters. But that’s why it’s important to have good people in your life to help you get back up when you fall. And good people, they’re out there trust me, they will stick around.
I’ll leave you with the motto I read once and try to embody every day:
‘Do no harm. But take no shit.’
You got this, I love you, I believe in you. Go kick some ass
