how would the ROs react if another character (like a random recruit) asked the MC out? (the MC is single and the ROS were only in crushing stage)
Blade would internally spiral into a pit of jealous, panicky despair. He wouldn’t say anything to the MC or the recruit (though he would glare daggers at the recruit whenever he saw them) and would generally just storm around in an incredibly foul mood without explicitly saying why he always had this look of thunder on his face. Eventually the MC would go on the date with the recruit and Blade would go train to take his mind off of it and then end up punching the shit out of a practice dummy or something.
Trouble would outwardly be like, “Oh, cool!” when he found out, but secretly he’d be aware of something bothering him, but he wouldn’t be able to say exactly what. The feeling would just fester and simmer and make him all weird and disgruntled, and suddenly he’d find that his opinion of that recruit abruptly dropped, like he suddenly disliked the recruit for no discernible reason. He’d slowly get more and more aggravated without knowing why, all while saying stuff like, “What’s so great about that guy/girl, anyway?” to a bystander like Chase or something.
Tallys would be dismayed that the MC was interested in someone else, and she’d probably go drown her sorrows and get hammered with Ayla or something. Outwardly she’d act normal around the MC and politely ask them what they think of the recruit/how the date went.
Shery would get visibly depressed and dejected, and would float around like a sad ghost/kicked puppy–but would deny that it had anything to do with the MC or that anything was wrong with her.
Riel would get all cold and distant and stiff, like, “Oh, that’s nice for you,” but he’d avoid the hell out of the MC and make excuses to spend time away from the compound. If anyone brought it up during that time he’d snap at them, like, “I DON’T CARE TO DISCUSS THE MC’S AFFAIRS, THANK YOU.”
Chase would act all confident and cheerfully congratulate the MC/tell them to enjoy their date, but inwardly it would start to bother him… like “wait why didn’t I ask MC on a date first?” and “wait if they like that person better than me?” and “wait there’s no way they could like THAT person better than ME… I’m the goddamn king of thieves…” and “oH GoD what if MC doesn’t like people like me after all?? what if that person has something else to offer other than the complete package that is me?? but what would that be??” Eventually he’d probably tail the MC and the random on their date in disguise to scope out his competition and determine their weaknesses… or to see if the MC genuinely liked them!
Red would respect the MC’s wishes at first and tell them (as a friend) to enjoy their date, but then he’d have time to think about it and wonder if he’d regret it if the MC wound up with someone else when he could have said something… and it would probably build up and up until he finally broke and sprinted to their date and blurted out that he likes the MC himself! …Then he’d realize what he did and awkwardly excuse himself and hide in a hole somewhere forever.
Ayla would feel pretty hurt and sad but she’d cover it up with a sense of bravado, like she adamantly didn’t care. She’d not-so-subtly trash-talk the recruit to the MC, though, like, “You’re going on a date with them? Okay, I guess, if you like [insert derogatory thing here]…” She’d sulk about it until Chase or someone noticed and he’d persuade her to tail the MC and the recruit on their date LOL.
Lavinet would sneakily scope out how the MC felt about the situation. If the MC was positive about the date, she’d be extremely disappointed but gracefully back off (while hoping the recruit screwed it up, maybe by feeding them bad advice about the MC if she already didn’t like the recruit…). If the MC was “meh”, neutral, or negative about it, she’d encourage them not to go on the date and coyly suggest that the MC spend time with someone they like more… no names needed, of course.
