The Magnus Archives Statement Fic Prompt Generator!
Everything should be plausibly dated and -- if you ask yourself who this person is, why they have a supernatural statement about xyz, and why they're giving it on the statement date provided -- give you enough material to work with for a piece of fanfic!
If you run into anything not working, an inverted digit that makes a year not make sense, etc., please let me know. This was a big, complicated job to put together!

Designed for ttrpgs and fic prompts, it gives a first and last name and a basic story starter. There are at least 10 base stories (up to 35 in some cases!) for each of Smirke's 14, many with additional variations in their specifics.
A random statement generator is also in the works; tell me if you want to be tagged in it when it's posted.
Content warnings for generalized human suffering (nothing vivid, and all the dogs and cats who appear are in their element, moisturized, thriving, etc.), slightly gratuitous use of the "And it drove them MAAAAD!" trope, and probably a couple of "too soon, dude" elements. I just ... I can't plausibly tag everything in over 250 story bases. Please tell me if there's something you need not to encounter and I'll screen it for you.
If you'd care to use that header for something, you can grab it here, along with collages for the other Fears. If you would care to support The Loretrix, they're on Redbubble.
Let me stipulate: Most of the names are not subtle. Source notes under the cut.
Primary sources for names include basic etymology coincidences and some onomatopoeia ("Clara" for the Ceaseless Watcher because it's like "clairvoyant," "Fisk" for the Desolation because it sounds like a match striking), as well as Wikipedia wanders on various related topics. There are some serial killers' names in the Desolation and historical generals' names in the Slaughter, and references to most of Europe's famous labyrinths are used as Spiral surnames alongside major Surrealist authors and artists.
If there's a person's name attached to a human disease, it's probably in there under the Spiral for hallucinatory conditions or the Flesh for physiological issues.
The Buried got the names of a lot of prisons.
The Desolation and the Slaughter both got a lot of serial killers and historical generals as surnames (except the cannibals, who mostly went to the Flesh).
Surnames in the Spiral's list include most of Europe's famous labyrinths and a number of noted Surrealists.
Any questions, just ask! (And yes, I think I could turn this into a set of d12 tables, but ... well, I also have to do work to pay my bills, so that would depend on interest.)
About your last post, where you wished you could code more to make an accurate regency name generator — just wondering if you’ve ever heard of perchance.org? It’s designed for making random generators with zero coding necessary, unless you want the generator to look pretty.
I had not, but checked it out and it certainly has potential for what I'm trying to do (historical name generator with accurate period statistics).
Thank you so much for the link! I'm definitely going to play around with it some more.
I think this is my wife's favorite generator I've ever done.
Credit where due: I mined the Scarfolk blog for a lot of my starting constructions. The result is necessarily somewhat more American-flavored, but shares the deadpan "if we can't mock the world's slide into fascism, what are we even doing here?" tone of humor.
So this is still a bit WIP (could use a little fancying up, but I need to learn HTML for that, lol) but here is the result of my last few weeks of work: The Random Hearthian Generator!
It generates:
A name (450 possibilities!)
Their general age group
A general descriptor of height and build
Eye color and description
Ear description
Whether they wear glasses
Skin color
Marking type and description
Their job (or aspiration, if they're young)
What instrument they play (if any)
An emotion they often/rarely feel (as a basic seed for a personality)
Their favorite accessory or article of clothing and its origin (in lieu of designing a full outfit)
I figure this could be useful for folks who need to come up with a character on the fly, or who need a bit of inspiration for an OC. I've tried to make it as headcanon-agnostic as possible, but depending on your own interpretations you may need to make a mental substitution or two (mostly the friction point is the "origin of favorite accessory/clothing," which may or may not line up with one's HCs of Hearthian social structures)
EDIT: Putting the changelog here so that it doesn't crowd the generator:
2/7/26 - v1.0 - Initial release!
2/8/26 - v1.1 - Fancied up with the help of @lutiaskokopelli and added optional scar generation. Note: scars only generate on young adult and older Hearthians.
