HEAR ME OUT

I was playing MK1 and listening to all the silly little intro lines when a certain one between Havik and Smoke caught my attention. Havik's doing his thing of telling Smoke to break away from his clan and be free and Smoke just replies to him IN THE MOST EXHASPERATED SOUNDING VOICE "Why do you think I'm shackled?" His tone leads me to believe Havik has tried to get Smoke to break away a few times now XD

This also led me to think why would Havik want Smoke specifically to break away. He doesn't seem to care as much for Scorpion or Sub-Zero. So my chronically online brain logically concluded-

Havik has a crush on Smoke and has no idea how to properly portray those emotions so he's trying to give Smoke the one thing HE finds most precious in life which is his own freedom. Not realizing that Smoke happily is a part of his clan and enjoys his role.
