There be Young Wizards spoilers in this post

If I may ask, what is the content level like in Young Wizards? I have an 8year daughter who is quite a reader and finished Harry Potter, but I didn’t want her to read Hunger Games yet because it is a little much content wise for her.
Um, it depends. The actual content is probably fine, but she might not understand some of the underlying concepts. Like, in the first book the kids basically change the nature of the 'bad guy' which becomes an important point later on. I missed that the first time around so I don't know that a kid would get it straight off. (Though the ADHD may not have helped me there.) There are also deaths in...actually, most of the series now that I think about it. I'd be most worried about the one in the fifth (I think) book because it's the main character's mother and she dies in a very realistic (though not graphic) way. I know it's the one that hit me hardest.
Most guides place it at the 8-10 age range (bit older for the later books) and I think that's probably about right with supervision. Things like the question of self-sacrifice for the good of the world (second book) and depression (sixth book) would ideally be talked about because they are big things for elementary aged kids even though they're presented in very age-appropriate ways. In terms of graphic imagery it's far more mild than even books like the Redwall series. I think Harry Potter is more obviously violent, even when compared to direct battle scenes.
