My county in Oregon is trying out ranked voting for county positions! I hope it goes well and sets an example for other areas of the country. The rest of the ballot was normal, but it was really exciting to see some changes. They made a cute little video to explain how it works.
I’m the anon that mentioned ranked voting and I think it’s a good idea, that way we could have actually viable 3rd party candidates and then it wouldn’t be throwing your vote away. Like you could say 3rd party Annie is your top vote, but if she doesn’t get enough you could say you want your vote to go to main party Dani instead. I think it might be the best way to introduce more groups, and more voters as many feel like their vote doesn’t matter
Interesting...
Backers say it would give non-establishment candidates more of a shot at power.
You know how our voting system kinda sucks? How we’re forced to pick between two parties/individuals that often are at best not exactly what you’d want ruling a country? Ranked voting might actually give us a way out of this dismal two-party system. I’m kind of excited about it.
Question for you. What do you think of America going to more of a ranking system like Australia? Or having none of these has an option in elections that can win where they then have to look for other candidates?
Well, our electoral college definitely needs to be overhauled. I actually think that it's an interesting concept
The state’s messy primary underscores the urgent need for ranked-choice voting in California — and beyond.
They say people will like the stupidest shit on Tumblr so. Here's a tie with the Condocet Shulze method
