So i kind of get what a lot of people mean now about fandom culture. Just saw the Backrooms movie, no spoilers but the main characters are a black man and a white woman. I go into the tag on tumblr, movie has been out like a day or two. Most of the fics and edits I see are about a skinny white guy who was in the movie for maybe 10 minutes. Its quite something :/ idk i just think the main characters are more interesting in their story arcs and characters, more so than side character dude.

yeah, fandom racism and especially antiblackness is really rampant, and I'm disappointed but not surprised to see it's happening again.

I at least hope the creator(s)? will actually take a hard stance against the antiblackness of the fandom and stand with their actors. The Star Wars executives threw John Boyega under the bus with their pandering to the most racist parts of the fandom and butchering his character.

Hey Backrooms fandom? This is your cue to stop being antiblack racists and actually care about the Black main character, not just white characters. You "just naturally" feel more attachment to the white character?

That's the white supremacy talking.

You have a moral obligation to kill it.

You're not "just having fun", you're not just "a harmless individual'.

You are part of a collective system of bigotry, and you are upholding it.

If you don't want to be part of upholding white supremacy, you must take an active part in dismantling it in every part of life. No matter where you find white supremacy, you must challenge it with every fiber of your being. It is your moral obligation if you think you're someone who's "not racist" or "doesn't see color", or even call yourself "anti-racist".

What you think of or call yourself is not what matters — what matters is what you do.

Are you demonstrating basic interest and care for a Black main character, or are you fawning over a background white character?

You are not just an indivdual having fun. You are upholding a system of antiblackness and white supremacy.

You need to do better.

Every single one of you, individually.

If you think you're not racist, you need to prove it through your actions. Stop fawning over white characters at the expensive of main Black and brown characters. It's 2026. Do better.

Really curious and i hope im not out of line for asking but what so you think are good ways to get your ocs or fan au noticed and appreciated by fellow tumblrites, i seek wisdom

Self advertising & consistency in referencing your creations in posts! (My honest opinion btw)

Could be illustrations, Pinterest-eque boards, writing prompts, whatever you have as a means of creating the world/characters.

I make it sound easy, but it’s primarily because it is! For me? I genuinely AM interested in my own AUs and OCs. From how I see it, you have to be the one hyping up your own characters and AUs before others start to follow suit.

For an example, my Casper AU: Casper’s Spectral Spectacle. I do post it elsewhere, with the mild exception of Twitter/X. Stuff on that site doesn’t have much reach and although disappointing & discouraging at first, other sites can have a different reaction. Here on Tumblr and TikTok, you have a much greater chance of people getting interested in your concepts. The more interested & excited you are of it, the more people are going to want to engage.

Wondering what makes it so interesting.

There’s probably more I could say, yet these are what’s currently popping up in my head at the time of answering this. Love the question, so no worries. It’s a valid one to ask

Given the success of new horizons i assume they rushed to begin development on a new game for the next system (switch 2 or whatever, coming next year) as for pocket camp i hope with it being paid they add rotating events and things to do since this is meant to be a one and done purchase. As upsetting as this is, this is a far better fate than many live service games get where they just disappear forever. I feel all live service games should do this after the game reaches end of life. If only for preservation c:

I really hope we'll get news for a new game soon! Otherwise I'll miss animal crossing so much, it really is my comfort game 🥹

Also yes, I'm very happy we'll get to at least keep the game, in a way! I never really got much invested in mobile games so it never happened to me to reach the "end of its life", but I assume just having it disappear would be horrible! And I really hope that they'll add events and/or new stuff to the paid version, too! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they'll say in october 🤞

whats so weird is that he ended the last episode on a cliffhanger where the doctor regenerates into billie piper for some reason. by his own admittance he had no plan where to go with that and just did it for the sake of it. people are also unhappy with him because he seemed to lie that BBC had greenlit a new season and a christmas special while he had no scripts ready and no actors lined up for it as he was dealing with contracts being dismantled idk why he couldnt be just honest to the audience about it. RTD is such a strange man.

Yep! Like, why would you lie about that?? Does he think that's somehow gonna make anyone want to hire him again, when he's lying this blatant about things that, you know, people who want to make TV shows care about?

It's just baffling.

Hopefully someone who's not just another misogynistic, racist cis white guy will be hired to run the show next. Someone who actually knows how to write, how to plan ahead, and not abuse their actors and other people on set.

The fact that anyone let him come back after finding out about all the sexual harassment going on in his first era is just despicable.

The amount of antiblack jokes he put in this era are also unforgivable.

Also, David Tennant and Billie Piper also both need to be held accountable for their part in the antiblackness of this era. David Tennant especially. I get he's a Doctor Who fan himself, but enough is enough.

ah i see...well i refer to myself as asexual because as you said its an umbrella term, the more specific term for my sexuality is aegosexual. so hearing what people are on about its weird because aromantic and asexual are umbrella terms for a variety of identities c: people gotta chill and stop trying to cause infighting in communities

I find it a bit upsetting when people talk about flatland as a math and physics proto sci fi and not like a critique of victorian era society and issues that makebit still relevant today. Literally like that woosh wow cool robot comic.

literally!!! It's so infuriating!!! Like, come on people, The problems with that big it is society are literally the entire first half of the book!

I really wish people would understand that by ignoring all of the political issues and simply focusing on the math, or worse, shitpost shipping, they are tacitly saying that the bigotry *is* totally fine and natural and we don't need to confront it or challenge it in any way. Because look at the cool math. Or worse. The shitpost shipping that relies somely on misogyny and homomisic stereotypes to survive, rather than any actual Queer attraction or ideas. It is literally just a joke to them.

Maybe 20 26 will have more people reading the book and actually talking about the bigotry that it is designed to critique, and doing more with that, rather than continuing the trend of as you say literally the cool robot meme.

There are so many topics that can be explored through the lens of flatland, that can be interwoven with the math, all is a metaphor for opening your mind beyond your biases, and we could all be having so much fun.
