it's not okay to tell people that their sadness- their emotions- are invalid. you cannot invalidate what they FEEL by saying that others have it worse, because you aren't helping them. you can't call them ungrateful for being even mildly upset at the circumstances. you can't go around, calling people the scum of the earth when they're sad. yes, other people have it worse. yes, things could be much more awful. other people are suffering far more. yes, we get it. but you can't call someone invalid for having emotions.
