Raphael originally thinking Liara like an overeager college student, still a girl really. Gently turning down her advances. Fast forward to 2, he's containing his anger as best he can, realizing she just does not understand what the problem is. She cannot digest his frustration, her morals are not his morals, not human morals.
He thought she was sensitive, naive. And maybe she is, but not in the way a human is.
What could be the problem, her face says, doesn't every organic specimen want to live? That's what Cerberus did, and now you can go back out there and preserve life. That's what you want, isn't it?
And Raphael just backs away. They'll never understand each other.
