Gray Fullbuster and his unhealthy attachment to Fairy Tail my beloved. It’s so not discussed in this fandom but it makes his character so much more realistic. No, it’s not healthy that Gray is willing to mutilate and put himself in dangerous situations for his guild mates. No, he shouldn’t have to put up with relentless stalking and abuse just because she’s his guild mate. No! The people who are supposed to be his family shouldn’t have watched it happen and laugh at him!!

I genuinely feel like too many people in the Fairy Tail Fandom are unwilling to acknowledge that the guild isn’t perfect. That makes the dynamic so much more intriguing to me! I could make this post about anyone in team kickass, all of whom have some unhealthy attachment to Fairy Tail. Gray however faces the most outward abuse in the form of the guild letting Juvia continue to do whatever she wants. Lucy see’s herself as ‘other’ in the guild because she views herself as weak (especially early FT Lucy.) Wendy went from watching her the guild that raised her fade away and then was immediately thrown into a whole new one with no knowledge of what it was like to join a real guild. Erza was literally a slave before Fairy Tail, and is also always putting herself in harms way to protect it. Natsu isn’t willing to view Fairy Tail as anything other than perfect and has hurt people who have so much as bad mouthed the guild.

That’s not even touching on the Thunder Legion! We don’t know much about them, but we know that they were ostracized from the guild because of their magic even before the battle of Fairy Tail.

It makes the dynamic so much more intriguing if you can acknowledge how these are literally a pack of trauma bonded orphans

Duos I wish we got to see more of in Fairy Tail!

Laxus and Gray:

They’re both really similar in a lot of ways, and I think it’d be interesting to see how their magic would be used together

Bickslow and Natsu:

Honestly I just want this one for fun. They’d make it everyone else’s problem

Mirajane and Lucy:

They have a really sweet dynamic, I think it’d be cool to see them side by side in a battle scenario

Gajeel and Gray:

this has been on my mind ever since they interacted in Tartaros right after Gray got his devil slayer magic

Levy and Fried:

We see them interacting a bit on Tenrou, and we know their magic works incredibly well together

Natsu and Jellal:

I know we get a fair amount of Natsu and Jellal, but I think it’d be interesting for who they are as people

Yukino and Mirajane:

We got to see them during the Dragon King Festival and their dynamic is really personal to me. A younger sister who lost her older sister, and an older sister who lost her younger sister. They’re really sweet and I want to see more

Alzak and Bisca:

For being the first two in the guild to get married and have a baby, we don’t really get to see much of them. Which is a shame, they’re absolutely delightful

Cana and Guildarts:

Canas whole motivation for becoming an S-Class wizard was so she’d feel accomplished enough to tell Guildarts that he’s her father. Then it’s a running gag that Cana wants no relationship with him? Seems antithetical. The moments we do have with them are very sweet

Zeref and Natsu

For being foundational to Fairy Tails narrative, we only meet Zeref half way through the series? Even then we don’t really get an elaboration on him until Tartaros. I want to see more, because I like what we have

-Gray has a type of congenital myopathy (muscle weakness) and its effects on him worsen after he becomes a Slayer

-Sting and Rogue have a crazy BDSM dynamic. Those two are genuinely out freaking everyone in the series

- Lyon is… whatever the Fairy Tail equivalent of Catholicism is

- Wendy is nearly as feral as Natsu when she’s overstimulated, she’s fourteen and needs to go a little insane to regulate herself sometimes

-Gajeel is transfem. Do not be fooled to think she’s any less buff though

-Lucy is also a trans girl

-Jelall…. Is. Also a trans girl (Essay on Jellals writing being incredibly transfem pending)

- Erza didn’t realize that not everyone had the same genitals as a kid because both Natsu and Gray are trans masc. She just assumed “oh men and women have the same thing, got it.” It was a rude awakening

- Minerva and Mirajane are together. This has no basis in canon I just want two of Fairy Tails coolest ladies together

- Lyon has a thing for Natsu post Tenrou time skip and is beating himself up for it constantly

- So does Sting but that’s basically canon

-Loke and Gray had something going on no strings attached for a while there

Ouuuuugh doomed Yuri save me. Their dynamic is just so adorable, and I will never forgot how flabbergasted I was when the plot twist in Fairy Tail Zero was revealed.

Out of all of the ladies Lucy Heartfillia gets, she needs to put a ring on Yukino. They’re so sweet together, I just love them

Ignoring the fact that I don’t really like Erza, I think having them together holds both of them back from growing as characters. Jellal is too focused on trying to ‘atone’ for his sins against her, and Erza has too much of a savior complex to leave Jellal alone. I think they’re better as separate characters

1-GRUVIA

‼️MY HATRED IF GRUVIA HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT I SHIP GRATSU!! I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO HATE FEMALE CHARACTERS BECAUSE THEY ‘GET IN THE WAY!!!’‼️ I hate this ship to the core of my being. It makes me horrendously uncomfortable. I genuinely, genuinely wish that Juvia had more character besides being Grays stalker but she really doesn’t besides her relationship with Meredy. I hate this ship because it’s horrifically abusive. Juvia doesn’t love Gray- she loves the idea of him. Every time we see her imagine Gray, it’s never actually him. He has a whole different personality. I can’t count the amount of times Gray told Juvia ‘No.’

My girlfriend and I were watching the episode where Lucy and Gray rewrite the book of END, and Natsu defeats Zeref. It got me thinking, despite those scenes being widely interpreted as the climax of Natsu and Lucy’s relationship… but the framing when Natsu comes back isn’t on Lucy: it’s visually, the entirety of both conversations, on Gray.

‼️I am not using this to diminish Lucy in Natsu’s life‼️ Lucy and Gray are the most importent people to Natsu- that’s why Mavis entrusted them to be the two to rewrite the book of END. They were also physically the only ones who could. Lucy could rewrite it, and Gray could keep the demonic magic from burning her from the inside out- he could also cleanse it after.

I went ahead and added the video- mainly because I want to talk about this scene being visually framed on Natsu and Gray.

Natsu and Gray have long been established as true equals- they’re on the same level, and they always have been. They’re fire and ice. They’re in opposition, but they can’t fluctuate. In these scenes, Gray is standing up. Happy’s flying, and Lucy is sitting down (which by god does she deserve.) this visually frames Natsu and Gray as being on the same level. They’re equals here, and for once they’re on the same page- this conversation isn’t violent and doesn’t pretend to be: they care deeply for each other, and it’s plain as day.

Visually cutting from Natsu to Gray- yes, there are certain parts where it cuts from Natsu to Lucy, but that only happens three times- shows that they’re the subjects. This conversation isn’t violent happening mainly between them. This is a moment between them that is irregular enough for it to register to the viewer. Natsu and Gray don’t have heart felt conversations without any riffing off each other, so this moment of care is monumental. This interaction is brimming with overwhelming relief that the other is ok.

The reason I personally view this scene as romantic is because of how it’s animated and the way the dialogue is written. Lucy, despite being the feminine party, is not framed in a particularly romantic way. Gray however is Natsu’s equal in the scene. Happy is clinging on to Natsu in a childish manner. Lucy is sitting on the ground because she’s exhausted and so incredibly relieved that Natsu is alive. Gray? Gray who was grievously injured early that day is standing at Natsu’s level and smiling.

In my opinion most of Fairy Tail leads up to this emotional climax between Natsu and Gray. Even if you don’t ship Gratsu, you cannot understate just how important Gray is to Natsu and vice versa. I’ll make a separate post about this in specific- with evidence- at a later date. They’re inseparable, and genuinely written in a way that they can’t be without each other. They’re inseparable. They care about each other so deeply, but they’re destined to destroy each other and are the only other person who could. Only Gray has the capabilities to defeat END. END- Natsu, is the reason most of Grays life happened how it did. Gray Fullbuster would not fundamentally be Gray Fullbuster without Natsu Dragneel. Natsu Dragneel would not be Natsu Dragneel without Gray Fullbuster.

Yet again, as this is a post about PERSONAL INTERPRETATION, this scene also cements my headcanon that Lucy is like a sister to Natsu. Not only do I see her as a lesbian, but this scene is framed on her end as familial care. And to me that frankly makes the relationship between Natsu and Lucy and even stronger one.

Natsu Dragneel Headcanons

Natsu is Gay- genuinely look at Natsu and find me a spot where he actually likes women

Natsu is some kind of non binary- but he was raised by a dragon and doesn’t really know what gender is. He refuses to learn.

Unlike Gray, he never really learned how to mask it and doesn’t care to

He eats Gray's cigarettes to piss him off- it’s technically fire so it counts. It’s not gonna hurt him, and it gets Gray to gradually stop smoking

This boy has a canonically crazy alcohol tolerance, but he doesn’t really like the taste of most liquor so he doesn’t drink

Natsu really likes music, but he listens to the loudest, most abhorrent(/pos) noise possible. Industrial, breakcore. It helps regulate himself

Natsu has more social awareness than people think. When he’s being stupid, he’s doing it on purpose to lighten the mood and make his friends smile

He’s a lover boy. Any time someone thinks Natsu doesn’t know anything about romance and angel gets shot and dies

He really sees Gildarts as a father figure- or at least uncle figure

He’s very cuddly with any of his friends. He’s kinda like a big dog who thinks it’s a lap dog
