Trigger free! Just Sam and the gang being beans :D
Savannah had gotten home late after the movie. She had told Sam and Ray that they were on their own for dinner, and then met up with a few schools friends to go see some halfway-funny movie that they weren’t interested in.
So now it was 9:30 pm, and she was just walking into the house. The living room lights were on, the tv was playing some car show Ray watched religiously, and she could hear Sam and Renee talking about something or another. The conversation was muffled by the floor between them, but it didn’t sound pleasant.
“Trevor went to bed?” She asked as she set her bag on the dining table.
“Yep, few hours ago. How was the movie? Did you bring leftovers?” Sam and Ren’s footsteps came bounding down the stairs before she answered.
“No? Did i or did i not tell you,” She directed that at Sam as she came into the room and hugged Sav tight, “that you were on your own for food?”
“You did! But i dont think any of us have eaten yet!” Sam sounded far too chipper about that fact. Ren waved at Sav from over Sam’s shoulder, looking a little sheepish.
Sav could only huff a sigh as she finally hugged Sam back. “You’re all disasters. Im not cooking anything..”
“We know!” Ray spoke up, standing from his spot on the couch and turning off his show. “We’ll all find something, right?” Sam and Ren both nodded, Sam smiling almost deviously.
“As long as you’re sure. Can i use the tv?”
“Sure, fine, excommunicate me!” Ray joked, gathering up his tablet and paperwork despite his words. This was gonna be a busy weekend, he could already feel it..
“I banish all of thee! Begone!” Sav raised her voice a little, giving herself a slightly regal tone that had all of them giggling within seconds.
“But your majesty-!” Sam threw herself off of Sav, clasping her hands together and pouting.
“No! Banish-ed!!”
Still giggling, Sam, Ray, and Ren all meandered out of the room and upstairs, retreating to their separate rooms to get up to whatever shenanigans they did.
Half an hour passed, and Sam’s stomach started growling. Had she eaten at all today? She couldn’t remember past the faint hints of panic that were crawling into her brain. She fucked up.
But that was a topic for another day, she quickly decided, standing up from her desk and sneaking down the hallway. Ray’s office light was on, but his desk chair was empty. At the bottom of the stairs, light spilled from the kitchen, along with the rustling sounds of someone trying to quietly search the freezer.
Sam entered the kitchen quietly too, trying not to blow the cover of her roommate, Ray she discovered. They talked softly for a moment, Sam asking him to pass her the cheese block and bag of ham, Ray asking her to open the microwave for him.
In the living room, Sav’s tv show paused, and she huffed a loud, exaggerated sigh. Sam and Ray shared a look before continuing their respective meal prep, Sam cutting too-big slices of cheese and Ray pouring them both drinks while his burger was in the microwave.
The light occasionally flickers as the microwave’s power increased, every one making Sam jump a little, but she ignored it.
The washer buzzed in the laundry room, so Sav finally stood up from her couch and went about dealing with that. By the time she was done, Sam was only just moving onto toasting some bread, and Ray was just turning the microwave to high for the next half of his burger cooking.
She stormed into the kitchen with a fake glare on her face. “You two are making a lot of noise!”
With a devious smile, Sam turned back to Ray and started asking him about his paperwork and how Trevor was doing.
Ray answered her questions with a laugh, moving around the kitchen to grab a plate and fork. Sam moved around him like they were dancing, putting the ham and cheese back into the fridge and arriving back at her plate at the same time he did.
They turned to Savannah when she laughed, the sound music to their ears.
“Yall are two too many,” She stuck out her tongue, and Sam beamed over at her.
“You know you love us, Mama!”
“Im on the fence..” She sounded serious for all of a second, before she broke into a grin too.
“I think we’re gonna stay down here for a little while longer! Maybe call Ren down too, we can have a party!” The microwave went off, cutting Ray off before he could go more in depth about their party.
“Do those sandwiches not have enough cheese for you, Raymund?” Sav sounded scandalized as Ray set his burger down onto the plate next to the small pile of sliced cheese.
“Wha- that’s Sam’s!” Sav made an “oh” sound before he continued, “But no, they dont.” He cracked a grin before gathering his plate and drink.
Sam followed suit, placing her cheese on her own plate, next to some toast and ham slices, and grabbing a water bottle. Sav shook her head as the two backed towards the doorway, before they turned and ran back upstairs, almost in sync.
“We’ll be upstairs!”
“Go go go!!”
They spoke at the same time, the sound of laughter following them and filling the house.
