What would your character be like if they became evil/corrupt?
This one was holding him back, now. That wasn’t supposed to happen, was it? It wasn’t supposed to be this way around, he thought, staring at the bright-streaked thing in his palm. This thing was supposed to be making him stronger.
It had all started with that job... he’d eliminated the target, but there’d been more than expected. These captives - they hadn’t been innocent. Oh, there’d been innocents among them. But there was that man - and those twins - and maybe against his better judgement at the time, he’d eliminated them all. For the greater good. They couldn’t hurt anyone, any more.

He started seeing it everywhere. The corruption, the malice... at first, his Darkside had counselled patience. All in due time. The other voices in the crystal hadn’t been unanimous - but were they ever? Kaito’s was the strongest, coming through in warnings. He shook them off. The real Kaito would be more nuanced.
His kill count had slowly ticked up. Slowly, he’d stopped attending his dayjob - he didn’t have time any more. Slowly, he’d stopped seeing his friends. His lovers. All there was to do was the s̶͜͞t͏̴̸a̷͢͝l̨͡͞͝͡k̴͘͜͝i̵͏͏͡҉n̷͢͝͞͞g̸̴̵̶͢ investigation, the m̛͟͞u͜҉̶̛͢r̵͝d̴͘͟͞e̶͢r͟͟s҉͢ certainty that those he targetted would never cause strife again.
Strife of any kind. Even the most minor...
And then even Delterkis had begun to find it troublesome. Even the most self-indulgent part of Aghurlal’s mind could no longer fathom the reasoning behind the people he chose - even at his most self-assured it seemed desperate, grasping at straws. And why could he no longer bring himself to care?
He should have taken the other crystal. It knew what this was about - what priorities should have been followed. Even the real Kaito had been a fool. He’d made the wrong decision - again.
Maybe, he thought idly, he should go after him next.
