Hey there, love John.

I pushed my hair behind my ear and leaned closer to the painting on the wall. The artist had cut her name into the canvas with a knife.

”I don’t get it. What does it mean?”

John was standing next to me, taking in the work with a reserved expression.

”It’s modern art, John. If you don’t connect with it, it’s okay.”

He took a deep breath, but didn’t say anything further. We continued to walk through the rooms, stopping at each new piece. I felt compelled to tell him what I thought of each of them, reading from the plaque about the various artists’ motivations and my thoughts.

Once we got to the last piece, I was lost in my own world of reflections.

”… Shredding books from audiences and making it into a type of yarn which she knitted into this big installation…”

As I spoke, I looked over at John, expecting him to be admiring the material with me but found him instead looking directly, passionately…. at me.

”What is it?”

I smiled self-consciously. He moved towards me slowly, reaching up and pushing an arrant strand of hair behind my ear again.

”You.”

And then he leaned in and kissed me beneath the canopy of words.

I was thinking, in that hypothetical timeline with Theodora turning mortal again maybe one of her great great great great children will be the one to fall in love with Merotal and choose to be immortal with him. Because I assume, John will still stick around to watch over her descendants. And Idk... that's a story I like to imagine if you stick with his friendship path 👉👈
