I feel your pain (or the opposite I guess). The flap of my esophagus is too relaxed, which is a whole health problem of itās own, and it makes me sound like a frog. Wanna split the difference? XD
with our powers combined we can create one functioning esophagus
So somewhat serious post so i will be dropping the quirk of my typing.
One of my headmates has organized MUPDs (Medically Unrecognized Personality Disorders) into different clusters and has coined some clusters! but he doesn't wanna make an account for this so he will have me coin them here and now!
to expand on cluster D, self sabotage would include self destructive behaviors caused by lack of indulgence in the PD and it's "fix" for identity while cluster E is moreso about the lack of identity rather than the self sabotage but it can be present and usually is present to a certain degree.

I talked to my GP about some symptoms Iāve never bothered bringing up before (not high enough on the symptom/condition priority list, medical burnout, etc.) I even told them exactly what I thought it was, in a direct manner, and it was pretty well received. Which is a huge win! Go me! Being brave and stuff.
But now Iāve been referred to a specialist. And Iām looking down the barrel of what it actually entails to look into this for realāmaking the appointment, paying for a specialist, seeing a new doctor, going through the intake and giving my medical history, explaining my other conditions, explaining the symptoms Iām seeing them about specifically, explaining how I heard of this thing I think I have and why I think I have it, risking judgement and dismissal, getting multiple tests done to rule out other things, risking hearing the same old āeverything looks normalā (followed by dismissal), doing the mental workout the whole time of trying to figure out how to get this new person in a position of power and authority to listen to me/believe me/not dismiss me, and, IF things go well, undergo a procedure Iāve never had done before that sounds a little unsettling.
And Iām justā¦so tired. Iām not in medical burnout right now; itās been months since my last health-push go-around with my doctors. Iāve built back up, and itās about time to go again. So I can do it. Itās justā¦I know Iām going to be so drained. Just like the other times. Itās going to be uncomfortable, and hard. And I can do it. I just gotta, like, psych myself up for it a little.
I am completely hooked on this chapter! This was so warm and tender at the same time. I am completely blown away.

This might be a weird question, but what was that throat thing you had surgery for if you donāt mind me asking? Iāve never been able to burp and Iāve always wondered why
Genuinely so thrilled to answer this question because this is so recently discovered but SO many people suffer from it!
Itās called R-CPD or āRetrograde Cricopharyngeus Dysfunctionā and it basically means your throat is so uptight it canāt relax enough to let it do what itās supposed to.
In 2019, Dr. Bastian at Chicagoās Voice Institute discovered a cure: Inject a boatload of Botox into your throat muscle. Now it CANāT be uptight. Fixed! (This has to be done in surgery because they have to move your whole voice box out of the way to do the injections internally.)
There are now doctors all over the world who offer this cureāI had mine done in June at Keck in LA and it was absolutely life-changing.
The r/noburp (lol) subreddit has populated a world map with a list of doctors who now offer the treatment, as well as a Wiki with lots of Q&As.
This sounds so silly but itās genuinely difficult to convey how debilitating this gets as you get older and it gets worse. I had to spend most of my days lying down, I could never eat or drink in public, I would always have to limit my amount of time speaking or being out of the house because otherwise youāre in pain or discomfort constantly. Fixing this has been the best thing Iāve ever done medically!!
Good luck friend, message me if you have any other Qs!
