imagine being the only person to ease sam's night terrors

a/n: a quick little drabble i wrote while i work on his au lawyer story. <3
The fan whirled a cool breeze above the low lit motel bed, slow steady just like Sam’s breath. It was hard for you to ignore the love that had seated itself inside your soul as you gazed at his peaceful state, no signs of nightmares or visions. Just simply being in that moment.
A few minutes had passed by before he fluttered his eyes open, groaning softly as he pulled you firm against his chest “been watching over me?” he chuckles tiredly, rubbing his eyes.
“maybe, but you seemed pretty safe tonight inside that noggin of yours” you curve your lips into a small smile, “besides we just finished the hunt early, I wasn't gonna wake you unless I had to”.
It wasn't unusual for Sam to wake up panting from panic and sweating in the middle of the night due to the visions, yet something that also didn’t go unnoticed- was the way he just melted in your arms after a long day. Only able to get more than a damn hour that way.
He moves to rub your upper back gently, voice rough with sleep “funny enough only dean has had to, but maybe you’re my goodluck charm”. He leans down, placing a tender kiss to your lips.
“It would seem that way huh” a giggle slipping as you deepen it.
A/N: I left the ending up to the reader. There will not be a part three! :)

I turned to see Lucifer leaning against the counter behind me.
“Lucifer.” I breathed out, “Where have you been?” I questioned, never taking my eyes off the blue-eyed devil.
“That my dear, doesn’t matter.” He began, making his way over to me, reaching up he placed his hands on cheeks and he stared lovingly at me. “What matters is that I’m here now.” I looked at his face intently, looking for any sort of tell that he feels some remorse for what he’s done but instead he speaks up, breaking me from my thoughts. “What’s the matter my pet?” Breaking away from his grasp, I moved away from him, putting space between us before speaking up.
“Lucifer, where have you been?” His brows furrowed in annoyance at my question.
“It doesn’t matter. You’ve never cared before when I’ve disappeared before, so why the sudden interest now?” I stared at him in anger.
“Because usually when you disappear, you don’t go out and knock up another woman unless this isn’t your first nephilim?” I spoke with venom lacing my tone. In the distance I could hear a door close signaling that the boys had arrived home. Lucifer stared at me before beginning to chuckle until he was bent over in laughter. At that moment, Dean, Sam, and Cas had walked in with a young boy following closely behind.
“Is that what has your panties in a twist? That I possessed some politician type dude and knocked up his secretary? Honestly, (Y/N).” Before I could respond, Castiel spoke up.
“Lucifer, you have a lot of nerve showing up here.” Rolling his eyes, Lucifer turned to face Cas.
“Really? What made you think I’d stay away fr-” Stopping mid-sentence, he looked past Cas and stared at the young boy. “Well, I see you found my offspring.” I turned my head to stare at the boy, he looked like he was about sixteen or seventeen.
How is that possible? I mean I’ve read a little bit about and I had seen that they age rather quickly, but I didn’t realize it was this quickly.
“This is the nephilim? You brought him here?” I snapped looking between Sam and Dean.
“We were going to talk to you about it, but we heard the commotion so we rushed in.” Sam said sympathetically. Before I could respond, Lucifer spoke up.
“Well, (Y/N). He’s all grown up and can take care of himself, you’ve got nothing to worry about. Now, come on, I’ve missed you.” Lucifer said with a smirk, making his way towards me. In the corner of my eye, I noticed the angel blade laid on the counter. Without a second thought, I picked it up and held it up to Lucifer. Glancing down at the blade and then back at me, Lucifer kept his smirk. “And what do you think you’re going to do with that?” I could hear the smugness in his voice as he spoke.
“You think just because he’s all grown up that any of this is okay?” I exclaimed, moving towards him until the blade was pressing against his chest. “Lucifer, you’re trying to start an apocalypse that will kill everyone… Including me.” I whispered the last part as I stared at him with pleading eyes. Lucifer's eyes softened as he spoke.
“Oh my little pet, you will be fine. You will be my queen and rule by my side. No harm will come to you.”
“I’m sorry Luci, but I can’t let you go through with this.” I reached my arm back and went to plunge the blade into him when I felt a piercing pain in my lower stomach.
“(Y/N)!” I heard Dean shout but it sounded like he was miles away, breaking eye contact with Lucifer. I looked down to see that the blade hadn’t touched him but rather it was impaling me. I followed the hand that held the blade to see it belonged to Lucifer himself.
“Lu-Luci.” I coughed out before falling to the ground, I stared back up at him to see a single tear stream down his face before completely vanishing. The sound of the angel blade hitting the ground is the only thing I can focus on, as Dean, Sam, and Cas rush over to me.
“Cas, you got to help her!” I heard Dean shout before darkness overtook my vision.
***
I’m surrounded by complete darkness and the sound of my heels clicking is the only thing I can hear.
I keep walking in an attempt to try to figure out where I am. In the distance, I see what I believe is two glowing red eyes. I stop mid-step as a voice speaks through the darkness.
“Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?” In the distance, the moon came into view, un-shielded from the darkness. I glance down to see that I am dressed in a formal red gown. Looking back at Lucifer, he is in a full suit, a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lip.
“You always loved the irony of a bad situation.” I said, rolling my eyes, outstretching my hand. I intertwined with him as he pulled me into his cold chest, he slid his arm around my waist while still remaining intertwined with me.
“No, my dear but I have always loved you.” Without a response, I looked off to the side into the darkness to avoid his impending stare.
“Where exactly are we?” I glanced back to see his red eyes burning into mine.
“We are, wherever you want us to be.”
“Did I… Did I die?” I merely whispered out. Without breaking eye contact, he spoke.
“No, you’re in a coma. Castiel tried to save you but you wouldn’t wake up. You’ve been this way for about three weeks now.” I let go of his grasp and backed away, putting space between us.
“You.” I stared, raising my hand in a pointing gesture, “You did this to me. You stabbed me!” For the first time, he broke his stare from me as he looked into the everlasting darkness.
“You gave me no choice.” He responded, dropping his arms to his sides. I laughed sarcastically at him,
“I gave you no choice? You not only abandoned me, but you went and slept with another woman and had a goddamn nephilim -”
“In my defence, I wasn’t in Nick's form when I did this.” I stared back at him in anger and disbelief, “Continue.” He said simply.
“Does that really make a difference? You think because you weren’t in this particular form that it makes any of this okay?” This time, it was Lucifer who was rendered silent. I turned beginning to pace back and forth as I continued, “But if none of that matters, you then tried to kill me. First by trying to make an apocalypse happen and then by stabbing me. I mean, that doesn’t exactly scream "I love you”, now does it?” I stopped and looked back at him, my mouth fell slightly agape when I noticed one singular tear stream down his face, his eyes were no longer glowing red but they were the soft foggy gray that I remembered so fondly.
“I never wanted to hurt you, let alone try to kill you.” He began, never breaking eye contact, “When father made you, humans. I couldn’t quite understand why he was so fond of you all, I particularly despise all of the human race but that was until I saw you for the first time. From that moment on, when I looked at you, I finally understood fathers fondness but I only felt this fondness for you. It wasn’t until that time in Hell when I showed my true form that you were able to see my wings that I finally understood this fondness. I had found my mate. It was you.” I stayed quiet, he narrowed his stare at me as he continued. “ I would have burned this world and the next, if you asked. I did all of this for you! The apocalypse, the nephilim, everything! And for what?” He yelled out, I grimaced at his tone. Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath before speaking up.
“I never asked for any of this.” In response, Lucifer scoffed. “When you met me, I was a hunter. I am still that same hunter. What makes you think that I would want an apocalypse or any of this?” I yelled out. Silence filled the room as I went on. “I-I loved you and you cheated on me. I went against Sam and Dean’s wishes when they begged me not to fall for the devil, I defended you when no one else would. I did everything for you, tried to be everything for you but I guess -” I let a tear down my face as I looked back at Lucifer to see his face softened. “I guess, I just wasn’t enough.” Within a flash, Lucifer stood in front of me cupping my cheeks, he brushed a tear away as he spoke.
“You are more than enough. That woman was just a formality, she died at birth and would have never survived it. I couldn’t let that happen to you.” I sighed as he continued, “I never met to hurt you. Could you ever forgive me?” I looked up to meet his eyes, to only see they were glowing red.
“Lucifer, I-I…” Before I could respond, I noticed a bright light shine behind Lucifer before I could realize what was going on. I opened my eyes to see that I was back in my room in the bunker.
“(Y/N)?” I turned my head to see Dean sitting beside my bed.
“Dean.” I breathed out.
“Hold on, stay with me. I’m going to get Sam and Cas.” Dean shot up out of the chair he was sitting in and left my room. I leaned my head back and rested my eyes until I heard a voice coming from the corner of my room.
“So, do you forgive me?” I opened my eyes to see Lucifer standing in the corner of the room.
This is gonna contain content with themes of mental breakdown and unreality. It's a comfort fic with Sam being the one comforted. Viewer discretion advised
You were asleep when you woke up to Sam screaming and yelling again, At the same people as usual. You've found the best way to deal with these things by now, After so long of being with him. You didn't run out- You needed to move slowly and precisely, Otherwise you could scare him and make him even more upset. You slowly crept out of your room, Into the livingroom which was pretty beat up from past breakdowns.
"Sam, I'm here.."
You let your presence be known, As to not scare him. He looked over at you, Shaking and holding his head in his hands.
"No no no- You're not REAL! Shut UP! I-I'll protect you, Y/N- I-I won't let them- SHUT UP!!!"
His eyes kept darting from whatever he was talking to back to you then at 'them' once again.
"Sam.. Look at me, Okay? Look at me. just at me. Not them."
He tried to listen, Looking you in the eyes.
"I'm okay. We've been safe this long, Right? We'll be okay. Just look at me, They don't matter."
You began to slowly creep forward, And he was nodding along, Very slowly beginning to calm.
"Don't listen to them.. I know it's hard.. Just focus on me, Whatever they're saying doesn't matter.."
You were only a few inches in front of him, Opening your arms. You wanted to give him the option but not force it onto him. He wrapped his arms around you tightly, His head in the crevice of your neck as he sobbed into it. His hands gripped onto the back of your shirt tightly, And you wrapped your arms around him as well. You just stayed there like that for a while, Whispering to him that it'd be okay as he calmed. He couldn't handle his delusions, He couldn't stop them, But he was trying his best to stay calm until they disappeared. You couldn't tell how much time passed until he was okay, But after he calmed down fully you got him something to eat.
…slowly walk back toward the car from Nannies plot.
A cardinal, odd for this time of year, flies overhead landing on a branch nearby ahead of you and Jenni. You cast your look towards the bright bird as it tweets towards you and smile, a sad grin towards it.
Nannie..
Behind the bird you spy two large figures dressed in casual clothes approaching you and your sister. You cast your puffy face down trying to keep the visitors from seeing your face, but your sister catches a good look, and informs you two tall sexy men are walking directly towards the two of you. After a brief moment of panic, you quickly realize; it's no strangers...
On the road from New York to Massachutes, present day.
The sun over the road is piercing directly down, and you shift a bit while peeling your coat off and placing it on the floor at your feet. Dean smiles and eyes you a bit, as you shimmy from the passengers side seat. He whistles and you shoot him a sly smirk before leaning back against the seat and pulling your phone out to see if Sam has texted you. The radio belts out some 70’s rock music as Dean taps his finger against the steering wheel.
You drop your phone beside you on the seat and stare anxiously out the window beside you.
“I don’t know how you guys can do this all the time..” You say almost to yourself as you watch the silver trail of side rails fly by the window.
“What? You used to do it right alongside us!” Dean says, peering over towards you.
“No, not the hunting..” You say still looking out at the racing pavement. “These long ass drives to and from the hunt.” You answer after a sigh. “It's so long and…boring really.” You tell him, brushing your hair out of your face.
“Nah, come on, its not that bad.” Dean smirks while his hand drops to your thigh giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“You’re just going soft on us, momma.”
You snicker a bit and roll your eyes as you watch him; one arm out on the wheel, the other placed firmly on your thigh as you speed down the highway beside him.
How many times you had pictured this very image in your mind, how many times you rode beside him trying to suppress the feelings you had towards him as he sat unknowingly, beside you. More times than not, regretting how badly you knew Sam would feel if he ever got wind that you looked at his big brother in some of the same ways you looked at him.
So much time had passed now, you wondered if things could be different between you and the brothers…
“Why don’t we stop for some grub, huh?” Dean interrupts your thoughts.
Dean pulls off the side of the highway and aimlessly drives down the unfamiliar roads in search of some food. You peer down at your phone hesitating to text Sam yet again, letting him know you’re stopping for food. You peer up for a moment spying a ‘Chik-fil-a’.
“Oh stop here! Please, I love this place!” You say giddy.
Dean turns in and strolls through the parking lot as you lock your phone. He shifts the car into park and steps out onto the hot pavement.
“God, I could really go for a cigarette..” You say quietly, flopping your purse strap up over your shoulder.
“Don’t you dare! …You know how gross that tastes?” He asks coldly.
“Oh come on, you loved it.” You say with a hushed giggle.
“..Would've been even better if your mouth didn’t taste like an ashtray.” He says opening the door for you, watching your ass as you walk past him.
Inside there's a long line swirling through the lobby to the front of the counter.
“Jesus, people and their fried chicken, huh?” He asks, peering around over the long-formed line.
“It’s like, the best fried chicken you’ll ever have…” You tell him happily.
He shoots you a disapproving look.
“Well, fast food fried chicken anyway…” You add peering up at his sparkling green eyes.
You grab him by his huge hand and lead him over to the line and read off the choices from the menu you think he'd like.
“Yeah, sure, get all of it..” he says, stirring in place a bit.
“All of it! Thats a lot of fucking food, even for you Dean!” You say with a smirk.
“Yeah well… Snacks for later..” he says while his eyes dart in every direction around him.
“Dean relax…” You try to calm him.
“...There's too many damn people around. This is why I hate these stupid food chain joints!” He says still peering around the crowd.
“...I can’t do this, you just order whatever and bring it out to the car.” He says, handing you his stolen credit card.
“No!” You say peering up disapprovingly at him.
“Come on,” he pleads, pressing the card against your hand.
“I won't be able to carry it all by myself!” You protest. “The line will move quickly, come on it's not that bad.” You say slipping your arm in through his.
You watch as his huge broad shoulders tense up as his gaze darts around the room. You squeeze his hand a bit and his eyes shoot down to you. He smiles coyly and wraps his fingers around your hand, relaxing a bit.
“If you can slay monsters….” you say quietly against his chest, “..You can deal with a crowded room of people..”
You feel him shake a bit with a chuckle, and he squeezes your hand again.
You order two meals at the counter and he grabs the tray with a scowl as you lead him over to an empty table in the lobby. You hand him his chicken sandwich and he unwraps it; unamused, rolling his eyes as he takes the first bite. You watch him, trying to bite back your smirk as you see his eyes pop up to you as he starts chewing happily.
“Well, goddamn..!” He says, with his mouth full.
“I know, right!?” You say allowing the smile to grow across your face.
He chuckles, taking another bite and you eagerly begin to dive into your own sandwich.
~~~~
Soon, you’ve both devoured the amazing fried chicken sandwiches and make a stop in the bathroom before heading back out to head home. You stare towards the mirror fixing your hair on top of your head in a bun, and search through your purse for a piece of gum, or mint, or anything to make your mouth not taste like fried chicken…and cigarettes. All you come up with is a travel size bottle of kids bubblegum mouthwash and decide, it's better than nothing. You take a mouthful and swish it around a bit before spitting into the sink and adjusting your shirt and jacket again before walking back outside.
Dean waits, leaning against ‘baby’ as you stride towards him with a smile. He eyes you devilishly, as you strut slowly towards him, swaying your hips a bit more than usual. You approach him and cock your head to the side watching him eye you before peering down into your purse. He watches you as you pull out the almost new pack of cigarettes and hand them to him.
“Here…no more ashtray mouth.. I promise.” You say pressing them into his big hand.
He stares down at the little red carton and smiles, quickly glancing back up watching you inch away towards your side of the car, and reaches out catching your arm with his. He pulls you back towards him and grips you by your waist, setting his big plump pink lips on yours. You reach up and caress his strong broad neck with your hands, while sucking at his thick velvety tongue in your mouth. He pulls away with a curious look on his face.
“Is that..bubblegum?” He asks through a snicker.
You allow a laugh to spill from your mouth as you break from his grasp and trail around the front of the car and open the door.
“Not bad.. " he says from the driver's seat. He leans in beside you.
“You uh, gunns let me taste it again?..” he says, reaching for your face with his huge hand and pulls you towards him.
You press against his chest, leaning into him and he groans happily beneath you.
“So, how about that rain check…” He says with a thick smirk as you push him away.
“I’m sure ‘baby’ has had her fair share of romantic encounters.” You tease him, “Besides, car sex is the worst.”
“It’s not that bad, it's actually pretty roomy back there..” he says nodding towards the back seat.
“Oh good!... Just add another reason not to! You say sarcastically. “...Just another notch on your dash!”
“Please, like I would do that to ‘baby’.” He says low with a smirk.
You smile a bit peering at your phone in your hand reading 1:23pm on the screen.
“That, and I’de probably have run out room already….” He adds licking his lips seductively with a chuckle.
You reach over and playfully jab him in the thigh with a scowl on your face.
“Uhg, Dean! Gross!” You tell him through clenched teeth.
“Oh, come on, it's a little funny..” he adds, still chuckling.
You roll your eyes and purposely ignore his hand extended out towards you to hold.
“Really, Y/N?” He says reaching out to grab your hand again. “...Stop it! Come here..”
You cross your arms stubbornly and look out your window, side eyeing him a bit as he sighs and retracts his hand finally.
Dean huffs before starting the engine and rolling out of the parking lot heading back towards the highway.
‘I refuse to be a notch on your dash, Dean Winchester… …run out of room already, jesus christ… …like I'm just any other booty call… I'll show you…
Looking over at the man who's made your chest tight and your legs weak for far too long. His perfectly chiseled jaw and neck bulged over his huge strong broad shoulders. He's so goddamn handsome, you can't even stay mad at him as he stares out the window in front of him, unbenounced to the devilish idea brewing in your mind.
“...I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way…” Dean adds peering through his rear mirrors as he merges.
You peer over to him with a softened look and wait for him to meet your look. He turns his head a few times from the road and back to you, a smile growing wide across his face.
“What?” He says completely clueless.
You scoot over towards him trying to hide your grin from his view. You glide your hand up under his shirt, across his huge chiseled chest…
“..Hey, oh…
You caress his neck tenderly, peppering hot wet kisses along his broad neck and shoulder.
“Aw shit, Y/N..” he grunts, sucking a deep breath in.
You suck a bit at the nape of his neck moaning against his skin.
“I’m not a notch, am I?” You ask teasing a bit.
He hums a bit with laughter for a second before replying.
“You’re something alright..”
You gently bite his soft skin against his shoulder and he winces. You continue to press a soft kiss against his bite mark and trail more kisses up his neck under his ear.
“What am I to you Dean?” You ask in a ragged whisper in his ear.
“You’re fucking perfect..” He says before turning towards you and colliding his lips with your for a second.
You pull back in fear he must be swerving and look out towards the road. You trail more hot wet kisses up and down his neck, lapping at his ear lobe a bit as he groans happily.
“...Do I need to pull over?..” He huffs leaning in against you.
“Uh, uh…” You groan against him. “..Don’t you dare… Just don’t kill us..” You add trailing your hand down to his waist.
Dean groans happily as you pluck your mouth from his neck and gently pry open the front of his jeans. He adjusts his pants and scoots down a bit while you gently pull back his taunt cotton boxers and his huge hard cock springs free. He grunts a bit as you take it in your hand and run your tongue across the top of it, you hear him hum happily as you wrap your hand around his pulsing shaft and circle your tongue around him. You wrap your lips around him and suck him into the back of your mouth, Dean's hand reaches down and caresses the back of your head.
You bob up and down with your mouth and hand running your tongue up and down his huge hard shaft.
“Uhhg, Y/N!” He grunts above you.
You move faster stroking and lapping at him under you, growing wet with anticipation that one wrong move and you'd both be toast, going 80+ down the highway.
You feel him tense as he enjoys the pleasure you're giving him. You pick up your pace and coil your hot wet tongue around him as he thrusts up towards you, almost ready to explode down your throat. You flick his pulsating tip with your tongue as you stroke him as fast as you can. He thrusts up towards you, grabbing at your bun as you suck eagerly feeling the warm white milky substance burst from his tip. You keep your head over him, still stroking as he bursts between your lips exploding with moans and groans from above. You finally sit back a bit breathless and he beams a giant grin at you.
“Are you kidding me?” He says through heavy breaths.
You wipe at your mouth sure you're covered in…everything currently.
“I was missing out on that all these years?!” He says a bit louder, adjusting his pants and pressing the gas all the way to the floor.
“Oh my God, Dean!” You say bracing yourself against the seat.
“Oh no…I uhg… I need to taste that pussy…” he says with a giant grin as he speeds down the highway weaving through cars.
You lean your head back against the seat cackling to yourself as you watch the speed gage hit 90, 100, 110, while he seamlessly weaves through cars, vans, trucks, and 18 wheelers. He spies the next exit and hits the exit ram, still going 80.
You grip his thigh with your hand and laugh against him as his eyes dart across the road looking for a hotel, motel, anything he can take you to and lay you down in.
“...You sure, it's still a hard no to the backseat?” He asks.
You giggle leaning against your door as he pulls into a hotel parking lot.
“I always thought back roads were kind of romantic…” You say through fits of laughter spilling from you.
“Really!?” he asks, surprised.
Not waiting for a reply, Dean speeds off towards a darkened ‘dead end’ and backs into it.
You hop over the back seat leaning up against the back passenger's side door, still giggling as you take off your jacket, boots, and jeans. Dean jumps out from the driver's seat and throws his jacket in on the front seat before shutting the front door.
He opens the back door and grins at you, before standing up and making sure no one else is around. Just the trees and nature on that dirt road, to hear the screams Deans about to pry from you.
He then climbs in towards you and shuts the door behind himself as he holds himself hovering over your half naked body. He meets his lips with yours and you eagerly swallow down his flavor as you caress your hands up against his face, down his neck, and through his hair.
“You sure you're okay with this?..” he asks in a low gruff voice.
“Well…no..but I guess it’ll have to do now wont it?” You say grinding against him.
He pulls his face away from yours and nestles it down in the crook of your neck. A heavy sigh comes from him as you caress the back of his head while his eyes meet yours meaningfully.
“Y/N…it doesn't have to be like this..” he says softly.
You reach up and caress his soft jaw where the stubble is growing in.
“Dean, I wouldn’t have hopped in the back if I didn't want this..” You say softly against his lips, still stroking his strong brave jaw.
He captures your lips in his mouth and tenderly devours you. You climb over his lap and straddle him, plucking his gray tee up over his head. Dean's lips trailing down your cheek, neck, shoulders, and chest. His hand slides up under your tank top and he gently grazes his huge rough fingertips against your soft belly, then around to the back of your bra.
“Y/N…” He groans against you. “Just say the word and I’ll stop..okay?”
You hold his face in your little hands and peer into his eyes as you nod. But you know there is just about nothing in this world that will make you want to stop. The feeling of this giant amazing perfect man you're sitting half naked on top of, who you've longed and lusted for, for so long…no way in hell are you letting him stop…
You grind against his lap and he groans as your tongues combine. His huge hot fingertips pluck the dainty black bra down off your shoulders and his warm calloused palms begin kneading at your sensitive breasts. Your hands caress around the back of his neck and gently comb through his hair. His mouth trails down your neck and begins lapping and pressing soft hot kisses on your hard pink nipples as you groan above him, clutching at his head while you gasp.
You feel his hand softly creeping down your stomach and between your thighs while his tongue circles around your breast still. His huge fingers rub gently against the thin fabric between your legs and you moan out as his touch ignites a fire within your core.
“Jesus, you're soaked Y/N…” He says with a devilish smile.
Dean plucks the thin damp fabric of your lace undies and you feel the iron hot touch of his fingertips against your wet aching core. You bite back your lip and his mouth reaches up to yours, capturing your moans as he gently slips his fingertips in between your slick folds.
“Dean!” You moan against him with a huff.”
“I love it when you say my name.” He says, smiling against your lips before you pull away, arching your back; forcing his fingers in deeper.
He curls his fingers up into you, in and out as you moan louder. Dean grips your ass and holds you still against his lap as he steadily glides his hand in and out against your sensitive bud.
“God damn, you are so sexy, you know that?” Dean groans between kisses.
You feel your stomach coil and tighten as your high begins to rush through you so quickly. You brace your hands against his shoulders digging your nails into his damp soft skin as you vibrate in pleasure on top of him.
“That's it momma, cum for me…” He says in a husky tone.
After waiting so long for this to happen, you can’t allow it to be over so fast. You don’t ever want this feeling to stop, but Dean's fingers pry your high from you regardless of how hard you try to fight it.
“FUCK DEAN!” You yell out.
You cling against him, your breasts against his face as your insides swirl with intense pleasure while he fingers you to your edge.
“STOP!” You cry out abruptly.
Dean pulls you back as you moan against him. His face; ridden with worry and regret as you capture your mouth with his.
“Stop?!” He asks breathless.
“I..I don’t want…” He clutches your waist in his huge knuckles.
“I don’t want to cum yet…” you say in a ragged voice panting.
He smiles and flips you onto your back against the seat of ‘baby’, you reach down and eagerly try and pluck his hard cock from his pants as he leans over you planting hot heavy kisses down your neck and shoulder.
“Well, I do..” He whispers against you.
His pulsing member in your hand ready for you as he presses a long gentle kiss on your lips, he pulls the wet cotton of your panties aside again and gently presses his huge hot tip against your entrance. You groan against him, gripping the soft back part of his neck, your eyes flutter as you feel him, pressing within you. Dean captures your mouth with his and sucks the moans escaping your throat as he presses himself completely inside you. You grind up against him already feeling the pleasure coiling up again in your stomach as you moan against him.
“Y/N!” Dean groans against you.
Suddenly, your phone buzzes in the front seat of your pants pocket.
You wrap your legs around Dean who leans down against you as your stomach flutters and your legs quiver. You pant against each other in a sweaty heap in the back seat while your phone rings out.
“Let it ring!” Dean groans.
(Finn!) You think to yourself as you push him off of you with a sigh and reach over the seats scrambling for your phone.
Dean reluctantly sits up panting when you see Sams name flashed on the screen. You swallow hard before putting the phone to your ear…
“Hello!” You say swallowing back a huff.
“Y/N, I’m so sorry, I just…
Your mind races, unsure of what you're hearing…
"Sam?..." you ask swallowing back the breathlessness in your voice
“...Y/N…Finns gone!”
Behind the bird, you spy two large figures dressed in casual clothes approaching you and your sister. You cast your puffy face down, trying to keep the visitors from seeing your face, but your sister catches a good look and informs you that ‘two tall sexy men’ are walking directly towards the two of you. After a brief moment of panic, you quickly realize; it's no strangers.
You wipe at your face, sniffling the crying voice back down your throat, trying to compose yourself as best you can while Jenni seductively tosses her hair back over her shoulders and adjusts her big new fake boobs. Sam and Dean tower above the two of you as they creep closer. You decide now is not the time to make a bigger deal than you’re sure Jenni already will, so you carefully reach for Sam and hug him before he has much of a chance to see your tear streaked red face.
“I’m so sorry Y/N,” Sam mumbles quietly against your head.
You try desperately to blink back the tears that are welling up in your eyes yet again and pull back before wiping at your face with a forced smile.
“It's alright..” you tell him sniffling. “..She's not suffering anymore so..” you take a deep sigh and try to nod reassuringly in their direction.
Jenni elbows you a bit, stirring anxiously staring up at the two men before her. You cast her a glare before turning back towards them and clear your throat a bit.
“Sam, Dean, this is my sister Jenni…” You tell them through a strained fake pleasant voice. “Jenni, this is my…Sam and Dean… Who I lived with out in Kansas…” you tell her with a warning look.
Jenni reaches out and shakes both their hands with fluttering flirty eyes as you try your best to hide the eye roll on your face. Dean scoffs a laugh as he eyes Jenni up and down a few times, and you stir anxiously watching your sister show off her new boobs to the boys.
“...Now I see why you stayed out in Kansas..”, she tells you with a saucy grin, eyeing the boys.
You suck your cheeks in against your teeth before shaking your head as you watch your mother stumble over towards the group.
Sam notices your eyes gloss over in fear as your mom walks towards you, Sam turns his head with you, spying the thin lady with sunken cheeks, carrying her black heels flung over her shoulder towards him. He peers back at you with a grin before back towards her and extending his arm out to her.
“...Mrs. Y/L/N, Hi! I’m Sam, it's nice to finally meet you.” He says calmly, addressing her.
You mom stops; eyeing the tall man before her, his hand outstretched towards her.
“...The fuck?...Who?!..” She asks with a scowl on her face.
“Mom!” You spat towards her.
She peers at you through thin slitted eyes, wavering in place as she sizes up Sam.
“This is Sam! Who I stayed with in Kansas, you’ve talked to him on facetime countless times..” you tell her coldly.
“Oh!” She says with an eye roll, “Well excuse me! Hi Sam! Nice to finally meet ya!” She says still not shaking his hand.
She waveres in place for a few moments, watching you and Sam stand before her, your face stricken with horror and embarrassment, while Sam politely smiles.
You flash Sam an apologetic look, Dean and Jenni in their own conversation on the other side of you, presumably about Jenni’s new boobs or something pathetic.
“Well, Sam…” You mom says dropping her hand holding her heels to her side. “Can I bum a smoke?” She asks nonchalantly.
“Mom! He doesn’t smoke, you know this!..” You tell her with a warning tone in your voice.
Sam smiles anxiously towards you and tries to reassure your mother he has none before she disregards him completely and informs you she’s heading off downtown for the evening. You smile your best fake face towards her as she waltzes off, wavering back and forth as she does.
You sigh a deep breath of relief as Sam turns towards you with a snicker.
“I’m so sorry…about her…she's…”
“No! Don’t apologize, I know… I mean, I get it..” Sam tries to reassure you.
You shake your head a bit peering up at his glimmering green eyes as he smiles back down at you.
“Yeah…We’re kind of a three ring circus over here..” you tell him with a disappointed look. “...Kind of why I never brought you here…” You add.
“Oh, come on, it's not that bad…” He tells you with another smile.
You cross your arms over your chest and dramatically cast your look over to Jenni and Dean who are getting along far better than they should be, especially at a funeral!
“Yeah… sure…” You tell Sam with a faint smile.
The two of you pace slowly towards the road lined with fewer cars than earlier, catching up on details from each other's lives over the past three months. Neither of you daring to utter any mentioning of the fall out, break up, the end of whatever it was you both never cared to put a label on… or dared to. Regardless, you both knew to stare clear of the subject. You informed him on law and order reruns and doctor’s visits while he informed you of hunts he and Dean had successfully taken care of; ghouls, a coven of witches, vampires and the like.
Finally after some very slow walking towards your car, he finally dared to mention the unmentionable.
“I should have come with you..” Sam says with a huff shoving his hands deep into his jean pockets.
“Sam, it's fine..It wouldn't have changed anything..” You tell him peering down towards the pavement.
“I know but… I should have been here for you..” he says, while you avoid his look.
“It’s fine, I’m a big girl..” You say staring off in the distance.
He blinks rapidly as you finally meet his eye, and your breath catches in your throat a bit knowing he feels to blame for the wedge that was created while you two were apart.
“I belong here..” you tell him regretfully, watching his eyes fall a bit, confirming his greatest fear.
“..I’ve got my mom to look after, and… I gotta figure out what I’m doing with Nannies stuff and the house…” You tell him apologetically.
Sam stares back off into the distance over your car, wiping his huge hand across his mouth as he shakes his head understanding your words…
You’re not coming back.
“I’m sorry Sam.” you tell him with a heavy sigh. “..You didn’t deserve…”
Dean's voice booms from across the cemetery cutting you off.
“Sammy!” he shouts, pacing swiftly towards the two of you.
Dean leans over the top of ‘baby’ looking towards you and Sam. He clears his throat a bit then smirks as his gaze steadies on you.
“So, when ya’ coming home?” He asks all too joyfully.
You blink a long regrettable pause and open your eyes peering back up at Sam. His look reassures you he understands the answer, but it doesn't make the words any less difficult to get out.
- You’re taking a theology course at Stanford and while the course itself is intriguing, there’s something else that always steals away your attention...
- Or rather, someone else.
- In the third row from the front sits a student that you can’t take your eyes off of. He’s tall, he has a kind smile and his hair is ruffled. Sometimes it gets in his eyes and all you can think about during lecture is pushing it away from his forehead.
- You notice that he’s always sitting in the same seat. While everyone else shuffles around to find a new spot each day, this student claims his place in the third row without a problem.
- This means that he’s an early bird. Always a step ahead of everyone. On time and orderly. You’ve made it a habit to match his schedule, so you attend class earlier in the hopes of catching a seat near him. Despite your best efforts though, he always makes it there first. Day after day, you find him reading or jotting down notes before the professor begins.
- One day you snag a seat beside him. You’re nervous and can hardly concentrate. You’re acutely aware of his “ahh’s...” of understanding of the course material, his light chuckles at the professor’s corny jokes, and the broad strokes of his pen during note-taking.
- It’s when his elbow brushes against yours that you let out a small gasp and drop your pencil. It falls down a couple rows and you can’t retrieve it without disrupting the lecture. He stops writing and turns to you. “My fault,” he amends. He reaches into his carrier bag and pulls out a spare pen. “Here, take this,” he whispers. “My treat.”
- Since that day, you’ve made sure not to sit next to him anymore. Why risk making a fool of yourself again? Better to find a good seat a couple rows away and admire him from afar. As for the pen? It’s now your lucky pen and you carry it around wherever you go.
- Weeks of neglecting your professor’s lectures, choosing instead to swoon over the mysterious student have finally caught up to you. An exam is scheduled in seven days and you have no idea where to start your studies.
- You decide to hit the books. An all-nighter at the library never hurt anyone, right? RIGHT?
- So wrong.
- You head to the library and start studying up. Angels and demons; a contrast... The issue of eternal damnation vs eternal paradise... Discourse between European philosophies regarding the morality of the soul and biblical rhetoric... Yeah, what a perfect way to spend the night.
- Your head is aching but still you push on. After you’re through with Demonology: an introduction, you sit up and stretch. Then you walk to the library’s Christianity and Catholicism section to search for the sequel; Demonology: II
- Why did you take this course again??
- As you peruse the bookshelves, you can’t help but silently curse that cute theology guy for distracting you. Who does he think he is showing up to class looking like that?
- You’re reaching for a book when a hand touches yours. You jump back, startled. “Sorry about that,” someone laughs. “Here, let me.” He drops down on a knee and picks up the fallen volume. He looks up and smiles at you.
- He’s wearing multiple layers of clothing and has a carrier bag slung lazily across his shoulder. He picks up the book and hands it to you. “Sam Winchester,” he says, extending a hand. “Don’t I know you?”
- When he figures out you’re from his theology class and are having trouble studying, he insists on helping you.
- SAM WINCHESTER IS A GENIUS. He tells you he’s pre-law but knows so much about... well, everything! He’s especially well-versed in the supernatural and offers his own fun facts about certain pagan deities and demons, speaking about them almost as though he’d met them himself..
- You’re awestruck and tell him how amazing he is for knowing all this. It’s here where he clears his throat, smiles nervously and looks back down at his papers. “You’d be the first to think so.” He says quietly.
- Sam loves coffee and offers you a cup every few hours. In fact, he offers you a lot of things throughout the study session. Pens, pencils, notes, papers... Even if it’s clear you don’t need a thing, he insists. Beneath his kindness though, is a nervousness from being around you...
- The exam comes and goes, but you and Sam continue studying together. Every day he saves you a spot next to him in class and every night you book a seminar room in the library just for the two of you.
- You learn a lot about him in the next few weeks. He’s a model student, he’s always dreamed of becoming a lawyer, and he’s very reserved. It’s clear from the offset that Sam doesn’t like to talk about his family or past, so you don’t pry.
- Three weeks later, the exam grades come back. Sam gets a high 90% which is typical. You’re too scared to look at yours but Sam snatches the paper playfully and checks for you.
- He smirks and turns the page around. “Congratulations.” He says. “85%.” You squeal and wrap your arms around him. When you pull back, Sam is looking at you, a warm expression on his face.
- “Sam?” You ask. He doesn’t say anything but tucks a stray lock of hair behind your ear. “Congratulations,” he says again in a near whisper. Then he leans forward and kisses you.
- Since that day, you and Sam have been inseparable. When he walks around campus with you, it’s always with your hand tucked neatly into his while he carries your textbooks under his other arm.
- Your fall semesters together are usually spent on campus, studying under the shade of the trees. Sometimes, you both lie down on the grass, your head on his chest while he tells you scary stories- Sam has quite the imagination. Other times, he gets sensitive when you ask about ghosts and monsters, so he shrugs it off, opting instead to read you something straight out of a textbook.
- Winter semesters are spent at the college café. You both order your favourite drinks and lounge in the plush seating while students come and go out the door. Some of your favourite moments are when Sam types away at his laptop and you lean your head against his shoulder, eyes closed as the scent of coffee beans and lattes waft around you.
- Sam loves listening to music. He’s a total CD burner and has dozens of playlists on his iPod ranging from soft rock to history podcasts and true crime audiobooks. He never listens to music while he’s studying (it distracts him), but you can usually find him in bed, staring up at the dorm ceiling while music blares from his headphones.
- He’ll never admit it, but he’s a tiny bit emo at heart (we all know that he’s an angsty man!). Sometimes you’ll hear Fall out Boy or Evanescence blaring from his headphones, maybe even The Fratellis (He loves Chelsea Dagger and Whistle For The Choir)... It is the early 2000’s after all.
- On occasion you’ll catch him listening to old classic rock hits with a small smile on his face. His eyes tend to get glassy when he does this...
- Sam bought you an MP3 player for your birthday. He burned a mix of his and yours favourite music so that you can have a part of him wherever you go. He dedicated James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful to you for obvious reasons.
- Sam is a little weird. Sometimes you feel he’s a bit too invested in keeping up appearances. He tries to sell the image of being a normal college boy, but you know that he’s hiding something.
- It’s the little things that tip you off. His refusal to talk about his family and childhood, the small sigils sketched into the margins of his notebooks, the silver blade hidden underneath his pillow... But mostly it’s the salt. How much salt does a guy need?
- Once, you found a salt shaker in his carrier bag when you asked to borrow a book in class. Another time, you visited his dorm and found a dozen packs of table salt hidden around the kitchen. Hadn’t your theology professor mentioned that salt was used in rites of purification? You’re beginning to suspect that your boyfriend is either consuming an alarming amount of sodium, or is a cult member.
- Hopefully, it’s the former.
- Sam is a total nerd and spends most of his time studying. He seems almost obsessed with over-achieving. Though most of his friends take college for granted, it’s almost as though Sam is afraid that if he doesn’t give it his all, someone will snatch it away from him.
- Most of your dates together consist of quiet evenings in. Though Sam is sociable, frat parties aren’t his scene, so he’d much rather spend some downtime with you watching a movie in his dorm, or just lying in bed talking.
- Sometimes when you sleep with him, you wake up in the middle of the night to his low groans and mumbling. Usually you wake him but other times you listen to his sleep talking and wonder what part of his past caused the restlessness. In most of his dreams, Sam talks to someone called Dean.
- Sam likes physical contact. He’s always touching you in some way. At night he sleeps with you in his arms, his head nestled in the crook of your neck. During the day he’ll hold your hand while you walk to class together. He just really needs the security of your touch.
- He doesn’t have many pet names for you. It’s always Y/N, or “hun” if he’s feeling particularly affectionate. He would rather show you his love through deeds like fresh cups of coffee, soft caresses, and second-hand notes rather than call you goofy names.
- Sam’s not into intense PDA. Don’t expect anything more than a quick kiss or a handhold if the two of you are out with friends. He has always been a bit timid and prefers to keep his love life out of the spotlight.
- When the two of you are alone, Sam feels more comfortable showing affection. His kisses are warm and tender. He always smiles against your lips and holds you tight. He feels he can be most vulnerable with you, so don’t be surprised if he steals kisses All. The. Time.
- You usually sleep in his dorm. Sometimes the two of you talk until the first rays of sunlight shine through the window. You like to fall asleep in his Stanford hoodie. The crest and school colours are faded but it smells like him and feels like home. When the alarm blares in the morning, Sam is always the first to hit snooze and wake you up with a kiss on the cheek.
- Breakfast is quick and surprisingly healthy. Though you’d never pass up on a plate of boxed pancakes, Sam prides himself on a balanced diet. He cooks egg white omelettes and frittatas for you when you’re not running late to class.
- Dinner is usually a low-key affair, BUT he does like to surprise you on occasion. Sam enjoys taking you out to local bistros every so often and treating you to cozy plates of small-town food. Just remember, Sam is a student so money is tight. Maybe the restaurants aren’t the fanciest around town and the food isn’t exactly gourmet dining, but with Sam Winchester by your side, does it really matter?
- From morning to night, your relationship with Sam Winchester is perfect. He’s intelligent, compassionate, loving, and you adore him for it.
- One night you feel Sam climb out of bed. You hear the sound of a struggle and sit up. You’re just about to investigate when something catches your eye. You look out the window and see a sleek black car parked in the shadows. “Dean?” Sam asks from somewhere outside the bedroom. You recognize the name and whip your head around.
- Things are about to change.
You’d thought you’d been paranoid this morning when you passed the old bookstore on Maple Street and had to do a double take. Then, after you’d seen the ghost of his figure ducking into the local animal hospital just off Highway 30, you’d made a u-turn in an old bait shop’s gravel parking lot just so you could drive past and look for his car. It wasn’t until you’d crept your way into the old marina’s guard building that you realized that you had, in fact, found the same hunt as Sam Winchester.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me,” you muttered as you pulled yourself up onto the top of the upper cabinets. Once you were settled, you flicked off your flashlight and watched as Sam trekked back up the dock towards your hiding place, his own maglight in hand.
He was only a dozen feet away from the back door when he froze and carefully pulled out his gun. You tensed, watching in silence as he peered through the midnight fog that blanketed the lake and the surrounding area. You hadn’t spotted anything suspicious, and you’d been careful to cover up any trace of yourself, which meant that Sam’s sudden change in behavior could only be due to something more nefarious than yourself.
Slowly, Sam crept into the guardhouse, keeping his gun drawn. You held your breath.
“You’re out of your depth with this one,” he finally said, and suddenly his light shone directly in your eyes.
You huffed and held up your free hand to block the light, squinting at him in irritation. “And you’re still a jerk. Nice to see you too, Sam.”
“Get down from there and go home. I’ve already done all the research and I can easily handle this on my own.”
“Oh yeah?” You carefully lowered yourself down from the cabinets and pulled your own gun from the holster strapped to your thigh. You’d stopped tucking it into your jeans a long time ago, opting instead for a more practical option when the chances of running into someone were slim. “Then how come that David said there were no hunters in the area?”
Sam made a face. “Who the hell is David?”
Rolling your eyes, you stomped past him, fully ignoring the gun he kept trained on you. The security guard’s desk would only be unattended for another five minutes. You’d been in the middle of searching for the disc that contained the antiquated security system’s footage from the past two weeks when Sam had interrupted you.
"What are you doing?” he questioned, coming closer to watch over your shoulder.
“Your mom,” you snarked back.
The disc was shoved in a drawer underneath a short stack of file folders and a notebook with yellowed pages. You pulled it out and turned your flashlight on to inspect the label on the front just to be sure you’d found the right thing, but Sam snatched it out of your hand before you could get a good look.
“Hey!” You grabbed at it, but he held it out of your reach as he read the front himself. “Sam Winchester, this is my hunt! I have been here for over a week now and if you don’t stop interfering, I will call the police on you!”
He only grinned and tucked the DVD into the inside pocket of his jacket. His gun had also been tucked away, leaving him with just the maglight in hand as he looked you over.
“We both know that never ends well. How many times have you tried that one? Three? Four?”
You kept your own gun out and narrowed your eyes at him. “Go. Home.”
“No.”
The sound of footsteps approaching the front doors made you both freeze, and you hurried to switch off your flashlights and escape. When the door swung open only a few moments later, you ducked behind the table. Sam was already crouching behind it and he pushed you into view as he crawled underneath the vinyl tablecloth to hide. Though the guard had yet to turn on the overhead lights, the smug look on Sam’s face was clear as he disappeared from your sight.
Quickly, you unclipped your holster and shoved both it and your gun inside one of the lower cabinets. They weren’t hidden well, but you could only hope that no one would spot it before you could get back to retrieve them. You barely had time to shoot Sam a look of utter loathing before the lights came on and the guard spotted you.
“Hey, you can’t be in here,” he said, heading right for you.
It took everything in you not to reveal Sam’s presence as the guard cuffed you and marched you over to his desk so he could phone the police. Logically, you knew that one hunter on the case was better than two of them locked up for trespassing, even if it was Sam Winchester.
Three hours later, the officer who’d collected you from the marina and brought you down to the station stepped into the holding cell area and unlocked the door. You looked up, a little surprised that David had even answered the phone associated with your alias. He wasn’t always the most reliable backup.
“You’re free to go, ma’am. I’m so sorry for the mixup,” the officer said, giving you a tight smile.
You stood from the bench and stretched a little, popping your back as the man held the cell door open for you. He led you out into the main part of the station, but you slowed your pace as you neared his desk.
Sam sat opposite the officer’s chair, his hands cuffed to a metal loop on the desk in front of him. When he saw the officer had returned, he turned his head to meet your eyes, his expression unreadable.
“Can I ask if you were able to get ahold of my supervisor?” you asked, closing the distance between you and the two men.
The officer pulled your bag of personal items from the bottom drawer of the desk and started removing the items from the clear plastic. He checked each of them off on your intake form as he worked, not bothering to look up as he replied.
“No, but we found this man impersonating a federal agent and interrogating local employees. When we contacted the man he claimed to be his supervisor, we realized that you were the real deal and this guy’s the fake,” he explained.
Raising an eyebrow, you glanced over at Sam, who was slouching further and further in his chair as the officer spoke.
“How did you come to that conclusion?”
This time the man looked up at you. He held out your flashlight, badge, wallet, and phone, which you accepted gratefully. A quick glance at the screen told you that you had three missed calls and a voicemail from David, no doubt chewing you out for getting arrested.
“His “supervisor” wasn’t his supervisor at all. The guy does work for the Bureau, though, because he confirmed your role in the case.” He glanced back down at the forms, then slid the paper towards you and held out a pen. “That should be everything. You just need to sign at the bottom saying that we’ve returned all your personal items. I’m sure the Bureau will be happy to clear up any paperwork regarding tonight?”
You nodded and leaned forward to scribble your alias’ signature on the bottom line, ignoring Sam’s glare. As you signed, you tried not to let your immense satisfaction that Bobby had vouched for you and not Sam show.
“I’m glad we could clear all this up,” you said. “Although…” Sam tensed as you paused and finally looked back at him, then at the officer. “This man isn’t impersonating a federal agent.”
“That’s not what your higher-ups said,” replied the officer. He crossed his arms over his chest, regarding you with a suspicious expression. “Are you saying that he’s lying to me?”
Shaking your head, you tucked your badge and wallet back into the pockets of your jeans. “No, sir. I’m saying that he doesn’t know everything regarding this case. Like I told you when I first came in, I’ve been tracing a trail of murders across several states. The scope of this thing is huge and we’ve got hundreds of cases under investigation right now. This man is an undercover agent, one specifically chosen by me to help with my work, so I’m going to ask that you release him from custody. You’ve already risked blowing his cover by arresting him. I’m happy to take care of any paperwork on his behalf.”
After a few moments of consideration, the man sighed and shook his head, muttering to himself. He reached down into the bottom drawer of his desk and pulled out a second bag. This one held more items than yours, including Sam’s gun and several knives he’d had hidden on his person that you hadn’t been able to see before. You made a mental note of each one as the officer pulled them from the bag and checked them off on the paperwork he’d clearly been in the middle of filling out when he’d gone to release you from the holding cell. You also noticed that the disc with the security footage wasn’t among the items in the bag, which meant you’d have to ask Sam to give it back to you. Irritation grew in the center of your chest and you cleared your throat, pressing your lips together to keep yourself from saying something that would blow your cover.
While he worked, Sam stared at you in silence. You could feel his gaze focused on you as you supervised the officer going through Sam’s belongings, and he continued to stare at you while you filled out the papers regarding his release. Finally, the officer went around the desk and uncuffed him, then handed him the pen to sign off that he’d received all his personal items.
You stood beside Sam in silence as he collected his things, then stayed by his side as the two of you walked through the station and out into the parking lot. Your motel was only a few blocks down the street, and you had no doubt that Sam was most likely staying there too.
“Why did you do that?” he finally asked as you turned out of the parking lot and onto the sidewalk.
“Do you want me to go back and tell him I was lying?” you asked, not looking over at him. “Because then we’ll both be in even more trouble, and I don’t really want that.”
Sam sighed. “Y/N—”
“Don’t. Just go home and let me do my job.”
“This is my job too, you know.”
This time you did look over at him, but only for a second. “I didn’t get you out of there so you could help me, Sam. I got you out because I’m sure there are other people who need help. I’ve got this covered, and if you had only listened to me in the first place—”
“I was here first, so if anyone’s leaving, it should be—”
“Will you just stop?” you shouted. You stopped and turned to face him. He seemed startled by your outburst, but you didn’t let his unusual show of surprise faze you. “It’s very clear that neither one of us likes the other, and it’s even more clear that we can’t work together. I did you a huge favor sticking my neck out back there for you.” You pointed back down the street towards the station. “So for once in your life, can you just let someone else be in charge? Just give me the disc, go home, stay out of my life! Can you handle that, Sam? Or is that too hard for you?”
He stared at you, lips pressed together, and you crossed your arms over your chest. When he didn’t reply after a moment more, you turned and started walking again, leaving him standing with his back to the street.
“Fine,” Sam said, calling out to you as you kept walking. “But next time, don’t expect me to help you.”
You scoffed but you didn’t say anything. You knew that deep down Sam had to be a good person—bad people didn’t willingly sacrifice everything good in life—but something about him made you want to bang your head against the wall. There are many things that you wanted in life as a hunter, but getting away from him was at the top of the list. If letting him think that he had the upper hand here would get him to leave, then you’d let the argument fade. There were more important things to worry about.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect, but a helpless, miniature person was not it. When my older sister came to tell me, we were expecting a new sibling she reminded me that I was once that new person coming into life and that now, I share the responsibility in protecting them. That my life was going to change for the better, with this new addition to the family, as was theirs.”
Today you decided to make this ghost show itself one way or another, because you were getting sick of its games. It had been responsible for hiding the book notes. It was keeping you up half the night with the noises it would make. No matter how much noise it made, it would never show itself.
This made you realize the history of the house needed to be found and then maybe you would be able to figure out who was haunting the place. A big part of you knew the ghost was the man that was seen in that dream. Sam. But you needed to make sure that there was a Sam who did indeed live in the house. Maybe then he can settle down and let you reside with him in peace.
Waking up this morning, you felt a slight pressure in your head. This was your sign you were going to get a headache sometime during the day. So, you needed to make the trip out of the house quick, before the headache set in. Because once the headache hit, it took a full day to recover. There was no remedy for them.
Quickly getting dressed, you called a cab to take you to the library, where you knew to find information on the house you were living in. There had to be something in the books about it.
When you arrived at the library, you spotted an older lady sitting at the desk reading. You really hoped she could help.
She looked up as you approached her, “Hello, can you help me?” You questioned with a smile.
She smiled, “Of course I can. What did you need?”
Hoping you didn’t sound crazy when you told her this, you just dove right in, “I moved into town a few months ago, into a little house on Monroe Street. The house is incredibly old, I can’t really tell you how old though because I’m not good with that kind of stuff. Anyway, there have been some odd things happening in the house. I need to find out the history of the house.”
She had listened intently to you and the smile never left her face, “Oh dear, you’re the author who moved into the Taylor house.”
You tilted your head, “Oh yes, I am. Now why is it called the Taylor house?”
The woman stood up, “Why don’t we go have a seat at that table and I will tell you the history of the house.” Nodding, you followed her to the table. Settling in the chair across from her.
“In 1854, a man by the name Sam Taylor bought the house. No one knew much about the man, just that he was a very handsome fellow that had all the women wanting to become his wife. All we know is that he was an extraordinarily rich man. Oh, and he was extremely sweet. He used a lot of his money to help the town prosper.” Sam Taylor sounded like the perfect man.
“What happened to him?” As if you didn’t already know. You’d already put together that the dream was not just a dream. It was something that took place in that house, which means Sam must be the one haunting the house.
The lady frowned, “It’s not good darling. He was involved with a woman named Annabelle Porter. He was in love with her, even though she was betrothed to another man. He loved her with all his heart. People were positive she was going to leave her betrothed to marry Sam, but it didn’t play out that way. Sam disappeared without a trace.”
“Did they find him?”
She shook her head, “No dear, they didn’t. There was talk that he just simply left town because Annabelle wouldn’t marry him. But the authorities think differently. They had investigated his home to discover it had been broken into, or it seemed that way. They didn’t find anything else. But about a month after he disappeared, all his money went missing from the bank. They know that he wasn’t the one to take it.” Poor Sam.
“Oh my, that’s so sad…. Ugh.” A searing pain in your head cut you off. It was intense. You quickly gripped your head in pain.
“Are you alright dear?” The lady asked sounding afraid.
“Ugh….. no.” You were willing the pain to go away but knew it would not. “Could you…. uh…..call me a cab?” You had managed to ask this through the bursts of pain.
“Darling, don’t you think you should go to the hospital?” She was genuinely concerned at this point.
“No…..ah…. I just need to get home and……oh gosh……take my medicine.” The pain was so intense it made you want to cry. At this point, you knew that not even the medicine could help to suppress the intense throbbing. Nothing ever helped. The lady must have agreed because she rushed off to call a cab. You just stayed there, laying your head on your arms while trying to forget the pain.
Ten minutes later the lady showed up beside you, “Come on honey, your cabs here. Let me help you.” She helped you to stand up and walk outside. You were doing the best to breathe through the pain. Finally in the cab, you were on your way home. The librarian had even paid for the cab ride, how sweet of her.
When arriving home, you made your way to the kitchen and located the pain medication. Then you quickly took two before retreating off to the living room, where you passed out on the couch.
****
You guess you’d slept for a few hours, because when you were waking up you noticed that it must have been late afternoon. Also, you felt as though you were being watched. Turning your head, you saw a tall man, with Carmel eyes and dark hair. It was Sam.
Sam was looking at you with concern. It was easy tell he had been watching you for a while and it surprisingly didn’t bother you. Sitting up, you smoothed out your clothes.
“Sam?” You asked hoping to god he wouldn’t disappear because you really wanted to talk to him today.
“Yes, I am Sam.” He finally spoke.
“Are you not scared of me?” He questioned while looking you over, almost like he was trying figure out why you weren’t scared of him.
You shook your head, “No, should I be?”
He shrugged, “I don’t know. Everyone else who has lived in this house has been afraid of me. They all moved out with the first month. You are the first one who has stayed this long.”
“Well I don’t think there is anything to be scared of with you. You’re harmless.”
He chuckled, “Well that’s a first.”
Hearing him laugh, made you smile. It was completely crazy that you were actually conversing with a ghost right now. Add that to the list of things you would have never thought could happen. That list was getting quite long at this point.
“Yes, I suppose it is. I’m Y/n/n by the way.” You introduced yourself. You would think he would want to know the name of the woman inhabiting his house.
“Well you know that I am Sam. Sam Taylor.”
“Yes, I do.” You paused for a second, “Can I ask you some questions?” Suddenly you felt the need to know what it was like being a ghost. You needed to know how he was still here and how he was able to talk to you like this.
“Go ahead, I have eternity.” He chuckled a bit at that, you cracked a smile at his little joke.
“Hmmm okay. How long have you been trapped in this house?”
“Well I died in 1858 and its 2019 now, so I have been stuck here for 161 years.”
161 years. That was a long time to be stuck in a house like this.
“Oh wow, that’s a very long time.” You commented.
He shook his head, “It does not feel that long to be honest. Time passes a lot differently once you are dead.”
“Really? That’s cool. Umm, is it lonely?” That was a question you were afraid to ask.
He shrugged and started to walk around the room, “Sometimes it can be. It all depends on who’s occupying the house and the time of year. I don’t know why, but in the winter, it feels a lot lonelier than in any other seasons.”
“Oh.”
“Is it lonely living alone?” He suddenly asked. You hadn’t expected him to ask questions, but you welcomed it.
“I haven’t always lived alone. Right now, I need to be alone. I’m working on a particularly important book that needs to be finished and the only way I can do that is if I’m completely alone.” You couldn’t go into specifics about the book. Not yet.
“Oh okay.”
“How are you even communicating with me right now?” That was your biggest question right now.
Sam stopped pacing the room and faced you again, “I do not know how we are communicating. You are the first person to be able to see me. Other tenants were just able to hear me messing around the house. But they never actually saw me or heard me speak. No matter how hard I tried to get them to see me.” You could detect a hint of sadness in his voice. That was something you could understand.
There was an idea as to why You were able to see him right now, but you decided not to tell him.
“Well I guess I am different than them. More willing to see you maybe?”
He shrugged while looking closely at you. It felt like he could see right through you and it was a weird feeling.
“Well I am sorry for scaring you since you have been here. I was really only messing around.”
You smiled, “You didn’t scare me Sam. I knew you were only playing games and I think it’s fine.”
“You are quite different Y/n/n. No one else has been as open minded as you have been. Is there a reason you are like this?”
Suddenly you found interest in the wood floorboards, “Umm no, I don’t think so. I guess I’m just willing to experience this.”
You finally looked up to meet his eyes. Now you knew he was staring into your soul.
“Well I enjoy talking to you. I have not talked to a soul in all the time I have been dead.” He admitted.
“Wow that is an awfully long time not to talk to anyone. Please feel free to talk to me whenever because I like talking to you too.” It was the truth. Talking with Sam eased your mind of all troubles. He had a very calming personality.
“Good because I think we are going to be talking a lot.” He had the most amazing smile upon his face.
“Yes, I would like that.”
“I’m afraid I need to take a break. I don’t have much energy to talk to you for too long.”
This had you frowning because you had momentarily forgotten that Sam was a ghost. Ghosts needed energy to be able to manifest.
“Okay. I should probably go get some writing done. Please feel free to come to me whenever.” Honestly, you enjoyed being around Sam and he felt very human to you. It made you want to learn more about his life. You wanted to be able to talk to him about my life too.
“Yes, I will. Now please don’t overwork yourself Y/n Y/l/n.” He spoke before disappearing from sight.
That was weird. You don’t remember telling him your full name. You introduced yourself as Y/n/n. How did he know?
You were happy that you had slept off the headache. Now, you would be able to get some more of the book done. It needed to get done soon. You didn’t know when the deadline would be.
