Bookish update
I have stored too many books compared to the space I have so I purged 15 of them or so before new years by giving them away to other people in our book group and its a relief
...to not clench my firsts around them and refuse to let them go
...to let them move on, knowing they will have better lives with someone who wants them and will read them
...to give back to the people I am in community with
also i am on a book buying ban this year. I have 22 books on my tbr list, mostly e-books, and those are my priorities. I have zero reading goals except to read when I feel like it. In practice that means reading less. I've been struggling so much with that over the last 3-4 years because books and reading got cool and I didn't want to fall off it when it eventually got popular -- but my interests are chaning and my life is too and the stories I used to love doesn't fulfill me like they did before. Instead I keep working on my own story.
Okay, real talk, does anybody know if the "kid who used to devour full books in a day" to "having to force self to read more often because you recognize the importance but you both struggle to focus and get frustrated that you feel like you aren't reading as quickly as you used to" is like... normal?
I struggle to 100% focus on a book like I used to, and it's not like I haven't touched books sense elementary school. I enjoy reading, I just... can't focus like I used to? And find myself getting frustrated at that fact?
I dunno if this is a normal thing or like... a sign of underlying mental health stuff? Google gives me very mixed answers so it's Strangers On The Internet Time!
