So, as it’s the end of the year, and it is time to make new year’s resolutions, I have decided to make some myself. I’ve realised that even though I have read 79 books so far this year, I have not managed to get to the books I really wanted to, and most of the books on my beautiful bookshelf are unread. So, I’ve asked my boyfriend to pick one book from each shelf on the bookshelf (there were six shelves in total) that he would like me to read in 2018. These are the books he chose:
1. Wonder Woman, Leigh Bardugo,
I have personally not read any Leigh Bardugo books just yet, however I am very interested in getting into them. This book is definitely on the top of my list as I am very interested in the Wonder Woman comics and the movie that came out in 2017 was one of my favourite movies that year. So, this one shouldn’t be difficult to get to.
2. Stolen Throne, David Gaider
Now, this is a tricky one. I probably wouldn’t have gotten to it if it weren’t on this list. I like Dragon Age, but I don’t think I am familiar enough with it to fully appreciate it’s literature. We’ll see.
3. Moriarty, Anthony Horowitz
I have read a few Anthony Horowitz books when I was younger and I remember enjoying them, so hopefully this will be an easy, fun read. Might get to this one in the Autumn since I am a mood reader and I do prefer to read detective stories when the weather gets darker and gloomier.
4. Angels of Music, Kim Newman
As I understand it, the stories follows Irene Adler and other fantasy women in a Phantom of the Opera mystery. Sound right up my alley :D
5. The Hero of the Ages, Brandon Sanderson
Now, this is a novel that I am looking forward to, but it is going to be difficult to get to. I have read the first two books a few years ago and I remember really enjoying them, but then I never got to the third instalment in the Mistborn series. I would like to re-read the first two before I start this book, but... that man writes big books.
I have never read a V.E. Schwab book, but I have this strange feeling that I will love her books. So this is definitely right up there and hopefully it will be just as good as I expect it to be.
These books will be my challenge in 2018. I will try and read all of them and document the process. I will of course read other books throughout the year, but I will try and set these six as definitely 2018 reads and see how I deal with that. As I have mentioned before, I am a mood reader, so we’ll see how many of these books I get to. If you have read any of the books included, please do let me know what you thought of them, but please no spoilers. :) If you would like to witness my dramatic and very probable failure (I am looking at you, Sanderson), I will be posting pictures and updates to do with this challenge on tumblr all year round. Let’s see how this goes.
