Sim's reading kit

When creating sim's reading kit, I found that the black outline of the penguin logo was hard to see against the dark purple background. To solve this I decided to use the coloured logo for the book mark. I found that this worked well because it linked to the colour scheme and still looked similar to the other merchandise designs.

Becky's reading kit

Using the design for Heather's reading kit as a reference, I Illustrated Becky's reading kit. However, I wanted to show these products in the box, so that you can see how the reader will receive it. When creating the mug design I decided to use the purple for only the handle because I found that it overwhelmed the orange if place in the same pattern as the other products.

Heather's reading kit

I decided to use illustration to show the kits because this will allow me to explore how they will look and interact with each other. This will also allow me to easily make changes to the appearances and refine them. I am planning to create the kits once the design has been developed, to show how they can be used to enhance a reading experience.

When creating this reading kit, I started by using the gradient effect to show all 3 colours. However, I found that this looked distracting and hard to see all three colours. However, when altering the gradient effect I accidentally changed the gradient into block colours. I found I liked this more as it clearly shows the three colours. I liked how it created a geometric design and would be able to be adapted to different colours and merchandise. This also links to my presentation design.

Reading kit development

What will I do next?

This kit will come in a comfortable bag that holds the merchandise and a standard sized paperback book. It will contain a mug or travel cup, headphones an a protect book cover. The design will have all 3 colours to show they like to read any time of the day.
