non aesthetic pictures of my study corner ft my usual rough notes. because of the shortage of time I decided that I'm not gonna make separate aesthetic notes and if I be honest that's totally stupid to do. so not doing that anymore. On the positive note my studies is going well and my health got better :)
good habits are steps for a good life. have a good day/night 💜
Study tips when I'm depressed and anxious af:
Make attending as easy and no effort as possible-- put all the links into your calendar so that you don't need to search up anything.
literally make it so you don't have to move or put in any effort-- get the app on your phone so you can literally listen from the phone. No stress
The above two are preparation tips, so those must be done ahead of time when you don't need to worry
Attend late. It's fine. No one is going to fault you for forgetting the first ten minutes. And that way you get a little bit, and can even exit early if it's too much. Just let yourself dip a toe in
Do something else while the lecture is going. Make it optional for yourself to focus, as long as it's in front of you and on, that's good enough. Listen as you will, read as you will, take breaks and go back as you will. Whatever level of engagement you can manage is good. Play some music if you want to listen but with good vibes
Work up to attending every class when it's live. Let yourself build that familiarity
Work up to more effort, a little at a time, building on each skill. So, first it's attending, then attending each class, then listening for the whole class, then reading and focusing throughout the whole class, then taking notes for every class, and then engaging with the material. Build upon what you have, like blocks. Start with one skill at a time and add to that.
Go at your own rate, so slowly slowly start collecting skills based on what you can mentally handle at the time, so if your capacity is low, just listen. If your capacity is higher, then write notes.
Gradually build up the abilities and methods of being an active student again, the familiarity.
Let yourself FEEL like a student again, and figure out what that means for you. In the end, ask yourself what you want that to look like, as in what methods and skills do you want to use, what habits does that involve to you?
Make it regular.
Have a plan for when you get depressed again or when you eventually relapse or fall behind, because every student has off days or bad weeks, and you need to be able to account for that and prepare ahead of time.
One method is rote habit or behavior that doesn't change with feelings. If an email comes, respond regardless, etc.
Another method is positivity and anti anxiety. As in, understand that it's normal to fall behind, even A students do that. What makes the difference is your attitude about it. Can you keep going or do you give up? So, stay on top of what's going on now, and catch up slowly and gradually, not all at once. Keep your tasks minimal.
Lastly is making things easy for yourself. Find ways that make the effort of learning as minimal as possible so that you can get straight to the material instead of hassling out technical difficulties and logistics. Make it super accessible, super low effort, super convenient.
use whatever is available to you at the time and whatever is comfortable for you. Put your bar down on making things just perfect.
Fuck judgement, fuck opinions. Be as imperfect and problematic as you want, so long as you put in some effort, as flawed and judged as it is. Bang into the class in the middle of the lecture, dropping wet, and slosh to the chair in the back. Stares or judges or criticism doesn't matter. Let yourself be the weird student.
Get the first step done. Nothing happens if you can't get yourself to the first step. Even if it just means looking some link up.
Make the first goal super simple, super small. The task must be doable and WITHOUT strings, conditions, attachments. As in, one lecture, that's it. Or ten minutes of a lecture, that's it. Just dip your toe in. And let yourself familiarize. Let your body learn to stop panicking. Let yourself find some calm in the new experience.
Try without an expectation to explore the whole sea. Try only for curiosity and the sake of taking an opportunity for the flyaway possibility of it working. Try even if you're not planning on attending and you're just experimenting. Try for your curiosity's sake, and fuck judgement and fuck commitment. Try in order to prove that you're not just throwing in the towel for things that you haven't even attempted yet. Try, to prove that you're not giving up early and without at least the tiniest bit of attempt. Try for the sake of it or for the name of it, and not to legitimately commit to effort. Just give Possibility a shot.
It's not about others and it's not about tons of effort and it's not about the whole sea and all its burdens and the long journey, and it's not about perfection. It's literally just one step just to see what it's like, with no expectations, and then... Getting used to it and realizing it's chill.
As you give it a shot, especially when live, you start to realize it's doable. Not just doable but also not scary. It's chill. Comfortable. And it's doable in the way that you can still learn and you still hold the ability to do that. It's okay. Ease into it and calm down when you think about it because this kind of slow reintroduction is teaching you that it's alright.
Make your own methods now. Take active control.
I finished! My diss is done! I’ve had the battle with Word to format everything, and it’s done!

A little physics homework while my agar cools in the lab!!
Forever planning this essay. Big windows and a sunny day definitely helps, but I haven’t picked the easiest topic to write about
I’m really quite proud of myself for getting the French essay done in time, with a full nights sleep managed and no hectic stress. I did leave a lot of it to the last minute, I admit it, but I planned my time well enough and got it all out. While it wasn’t my best essay by far, I did do enough for a pass, which is what I was hoping for in this subject. Summary: while it is best to give 110% 100% of the time, sometimes it doesn’t work out that way, and that’s okay. (feat. yummy tea, dirty window, and airing work clothes 😅)
