My 2015 GMC Acadia got sideswiped from the rear this morning, and it doesn't look good. She's pretty banged up in the tailgate, bumper, right tail light, and lower right fender panel.
In my opinion it doesn't look completely bad either, but she is 11 years old this month. (It will be 11 years as of May 27th, to be exact.)
Of all the cars I've owned, my Acadia was only my 2nd new car right off the dealership lot. There were less than 20 miles on the odometer when I took her home. My first car that was Fully Loaded. She had every upgrade you could buy on the Acadia SLT for that year's model.
We've been through a lot of adventures together, and a taken a lot of trips. Her first trip was to Medicine Mountain, South Dakota. We saw Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, and The Badlands, all within our first 3,000 miles.
Blue has been to the Smoky Mountains, more than a dozen BSA Scout camps and dozens more campouts. Garden of the Gods in Herod, IL twice. Tom Sauk Mountain, Elephant Rocks, Rock Bridge State Park, Johnson Shut Ins, and many, many more.
I've made sure to keep her well maintained, and even though she has 121,000 miles on the odometer, and a lot of minor wear and tear, I know she has another 100,000 miles in her to go.
Oddly enough... I've got a really bad feeling that I'm not going to be getting her back.
