1000 Reasons to Love The Mandalorian (14/1000)
Another aspect of Din’s relationship with his son that I absolutely adore is the gentleness with which he treats The Baby. It fits really well with what I wrote about his politeness in the 1st reason [HERE]. This heart-warming and surprising contrast between his beskar-covered body with featureless helmet and the softness he hides underneath...
We have so many short moments when he handles the baby like the precious little thing he is <3. And it started even before they developed any bond or before the kid saved Din from the Mudhorn.
We can actually see an example of that in the first episode when he greets The Baby by giving him his finger to hold. And in the second episode we have Din stopping the kid’s attempts to heal his wound. [04:39] And he does that so carefully, yet naturally. It’s very similar to the moment when he takes The Baby’s hands from the controller in the Chapter 4 [05:54]. Din’s hands are so huge compared to these tiny ones… His one palm is probably the same length as the kid’s entire arm… I’m… My heart ;-;
And finally we can see Din putting The Baby in his cot (Chapter 5 – [04:00]) and pat him lightly, even though he’s sleeping and can’t even feel it…
I really should make these posts shorter, because I’ll run out of scenes to describe if I continue to put 3-4 different ones in each post, but it’s really hard to resist and not write about everything that comes to my mind once I start.
