Tradition and Worship
6 He answered and said unto them, Well has Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 But in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such things you do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.
6 Jesús les contestó: —Bien habló el profeta Isaías acerca de lo hipócritas que son ustedes, cuando escribió: “Este pueblo me honra con la boca, pero su corazón está lejos de mí.
7 De nada sirve que me rinda culto: sus enseñanzas son mandatos de hombres.”

Notes: In Mark 7:6-9, Jesus sharply rebukes the Pharisees and scribes for hypocrisy. He exposes that their religious devotion is merely superficial—honoring God with their words but having distant hearts. By elevating man-made traditions above God’s actual commands, they effectively nullified the true purpose of the law.
