🐜 Recommend a fic that makes you laugh! A crack fic, or something that's just really funny!

em!!! not you sending me these asks...i’m spiraling because now i can’t recommend one of yours, even though half my bookmarks are like all of your fics including the ones on tumblr. but fine <3. i’ll go through my bookmarks and give you some recs that absolutely delighted me and made me laugh:

First up: Which Side Are You On, Boys? by kidulkas (2k words, Gax) I don’t even go here, like this is literally the only Gax fic I’ve ever read but it broke my brain in the best way. I was lying in bed, reached the “chop chop” line, and had to physically yeet my phone across the room because I was laughing. George’s voice is so perfectly, unbearably George that I couldn’t stop laughing. He’s written like the most annoying man alive, and somehow that makes him irresistible. It's really so, so funny and sexy.

Then we have: let the bells ring out by peachbellini (12k words, Galex) My Secret Santa wrote this for me, and I still can’t believe it actually exists. Yes, it has angst (it’s a time loop, of course George is spiraling), but it’s also hysterical. There’s Kimi Antonelli possibly moonlighting as a magical elf, a turkey falling in slow motion, and George just absolutely losing his mind in the most beautiful way. The voice is so sharp and funny...apparently I laugh at George no matter how much he’s suffering and also, when he is written painfully british.

And okay, I was going to rec pressured by situational forces by whichisgolden before I saw it was written for you. Because that fic bamboozled me so hard I had to sit in stunned silence like someone had unplugged my brain. Genuinely one of the most brilliant things I’ve read.

But I have another Maxiel one for you: caught my shooting star by tiredtiredsharl (7k words, Maxiel) Not pure crack or even that funny, but there is a surprising twist, tha is so unexpected and perfectly delivered that I laughed out loud. It’s sweet and strange in the best way. Daniel is chaotic and irresistible, and Max is just following him around like a lovesick golden retriever. It's about a hookup. A short, sparkly little treat.

Thank you for sending this, even though I couldn't rec any of yours. But I love you anyway 🫶

"That too,” Enkidu said, rising up and turning onto his side.

Enkidu can’t fall asleep indoors. Gilgamesh has a solution for that.

2. Mistress of All Evil, Sleeping Beauty (1959) and Black Jewels - Anne Bishop, Maleficent and Daemon Sadi/Lucivar Yaslana, 2122 words, Teen+

Maleficent waits for the swirling green and purple smoke to settle. She’s drawn herself up to her full height, staff in hand. She knows she’s a fearsome sight, even when not in her dragon form. Hopefully someone in this kingdom will resist her. It’s less fun when the inhabitants of a new place she’s visiting capitulate immediately.

Maleficent goes a'conquering. That was the plan, anyway. It doesn't quite work out.

3. time fuckery, Teen Wolf, Derek Hale/Peter Hale/Stiles Stilinski, 12,637 words, Explicit

Stiles plunges through the preserve, hoping he hasn’t somehow gotten lost in these woods he’s very familiar with and that the light holds long enough to get him to his destination. He can tell the forest is younger than the one he left behind, so he knows he truly did travel back in time. Go him; he’s done with the part that almost everyone else would think is the hardest. Stiles knows the really hard part is still to come—getting Derek to trust him enough to believe Stiles when he warns him about Kate.

Stiles travels back in time to warn the Hales about Kate and prevent tragedy. Things go differently than he expects.

4. You’re In My Bed, Uncle Peter, Derek Hale/Peter Hale, 4,402 words, Explicit

Stiles had thought it was funny at first. He'd made a million jokes about sex pollen. They stopped when he looked up the flowers Peter had been sent. When he realized Peter would actually die, and this time it would almost certainly stick. Derek wasn't going to risk Peter's life on the slim chance that it wouldn't.

Fandom Fic Rec: Throw Back Edition

I'm making a game cause I'm bored, and I've been thinking about old fandoms I've been in and the fics that have left an impression on me! So here are the rules:

Chose 5 fandoms you are no longer active in (as in actively participating/creating in), and then chose 1 fic for each fandom that's stuck with you. Tag 5 people when you're done!

(Of course, if you're not tagged, you're welcome to play. I just think it's fun to do a little fandom digging and share some blasts from the past :3)

1. Fandom: Harry Potter | Pairing: Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter

Forgive Those Who Trespass by: Lomonaaeren (AO3)

This fic is filled with heavy and disturbing subject matter, so if you check it out please mind the tags and then expect a little worse. Still, it's a highly captivating story, and the pacing is phenomenal. I love this writer a lot, actually, and when I was actively reading Drarry it turns out they wrote a lot of the ones I enjoyed.

2. Fandom: Law & Order: SVU | Pairing: Rafael Barba/Sonny Carisi

I'm pretty sure, aside from the credit I give the TG fandom. This was actually my first introduction to the time loop concept. It's one I come back to, ironically, over and over again. I love pretty much everything about it, to the point where I once asked to do a podfic (and boy howdy did that slip through my fingers .-., rip to non-planning Alex of old) of the piece because I loved it so much!

3. Fandom: Star Trek (2009) | Paring: Leonard McCoy/Pavel Chekov

The Gap Between (Fanfic.net) by: McStories (Fanfic.net)

Talk about an age gap with this one (ties back into the title actually) and a rarepair at that. I don't even remember what fic got me into this pairing, though I know who to blame for dragging me into it. This fic runs the gauntlet of characters having misconceptions, preconceived notions, and learning how to get the fuck over themselves. I love this fic to pieces. It's one of the few I've read multiple times, and if you're open to the ship I highly recommend giving this one a shot. There is heavy subject matter, however, so be mindful.

4. Fandom: Teen Wolf | Paring: Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski

(not so) Pure Imagination by: @halekingsourwolf / @theroguesrandom | theroguesgambit (AO3)

The concept in this fic was the first time I'd ever seen it done, and god, is it done well. It's fun and sexy and filled with a glorious amount of guilt and pining. Wonderful all the way through and one of the few Sterek fics that immediately comes to mind! If you're into Sterek and you haven't read this please do yourself a favor and go on!

5. Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis | Pairing: John Shepard/Rodney McKay

With the downfall of old personally owned/hosted fanfic site, in the dark ages before AO3 and Fanfiction.net, where LiveJournal was really poppin', it's an honest to god shame how many amazing fanfictions have been lost to the cruel ways of the internet, and no fandom for me has been hit as hard as the Stargate: Atlantis fandom. I was so happy to see that this fic lived on with Auburn's personally maintained archive, and I hope that some of you get a chance to read this fic as well as some others from this author.
