After somebody talking shit about me and my bjd's i sold all my recasts (which i never really showed online or talked about them) and now i just own 3 legit dolls. I hope people stop being assh*** to me and leave me alone now. Sry but all those stupid fights are annoying and doesn't help people enjoying the hobby. I deleted all my accounts and maybe, in some month, i can enjoy my 3 remaining dolls online again.

I don’t usually follow Lolita news or Lolita BNFs, but this description of what’s wrong with Lolita replicas is also accurate for what’s wrong with BJD recasts: namely, that they’re intellectual property theft, counterfeit/bootleg, bad for the artists, bad for the secondhand market, and not acceptable in the community.

I have a "conspiracy theory" of sort... what if recasters and certain companies are secretly working together? I ordered a Iplehouse recast and he came with an official Iplehouse booklet. Now it could have come with the legit doll the recaster (Luo) bought, but everyone who buys those recasts is getting these booklets. They don't look fake, so how are they getting them? Is Iplehouse giving them to Luo? It just feels too weird. Thoughts?

The theory isn't a new one, neither it's a crazy one. That someone inside each company is in contact with bigger recast sellers. Either a former employee or a current one making extra cash on the side (imagine the scandal if that ever comes to light!), or, the company itself (because you know what they say, "there's no bad publicity, only publicity", and many more people worldwide is on the BJD hobby now thanks to recasts).

Of course it's all speculative and no one will ever be sure, paper can be impressed in a very convincing way and Chinese people that work with this are masters in the art of reproduction.

I have several (legit, straight from Iple) papers, but for some reason I never had a recast of the same Iple doll, so I wouldn't be able to see it for myself and form an opinion "side by side" comparison of the papers as I did noticed that SOOM certificates are different from legit ones, but not Iplehouse, sorry.

#Pro Artist Day

Every year I see this recast issue growing worse and worse and we’ve all been trying to say the same things about it over and over again. It’s just damn depressing at this point.

There’s no valid reason to knowingly buy a recasted doll. You can justify it for yourself however you like, but it’s still theft. 

All dolls are artist dolls. They don’t just wink into existence magically. No matter the size of the studio, no matter if the studio is still actively making dolls, no matter if a particular doll is discontinued, no matter if you disagree with the price, the artist has a right to earn their livelihood from their work.

When you buy a recast doll, you’re funding theft. There is no argument or mental loophole you can use to deny that fact. If you find some way to justify your needs over the needs of the original creator, I guess good for you, but you’re not welcome in my corner of the hobby.

There’s no hardline that says once you’ve bought a recast you’ll never be able to redeem yourself. Make your next doll purchase one that funds creativity and keep buying legits from this point on. We’re all counting on you to change your position and bring this hobby back to what it was before recasts became an issue.

Go legit or quit.

For someone accusing me of owning recast, ever heard of people having multiple blogs? Not? Well, let me tell you, I have, I have multiple blogs, and I have a lot, I made my NSFW blog years before I thought of even putting doll related stuff on tumlr, so yeah...

Also, since we are playing the blame game, nonny, I say you are the cowardly recast owner, show yourself before you sling mud and I will actually be able to take this hilarity seriously, thanks for the laugh gorgeous!
