im jewish by heratige but never in practice so im pretty lost in jewish tumblr. what are good resources for an agnostic jew who wants to reconnect with their culture? also what are good leftist jewish tumblr blogs?
is there a way to interface with secular jewish life as a patrilineal jew who wasn't really raised in jewish household (due to abuse)? or would i need to formally convert and/or be more religious in order to actually belong?
I'm learning to read Hebrew and I know most of the letters but those who learned as adults, how did you memorize the kh/h/k/soft/hards/etc. sounds?? Short of studying with someone which I can't do right now anyway. I know the range of sound to make but remembering which is which is proving really challenging, any tips or tricks appreciated.
I just went to my first Shabbat service and it just happened to have a Bat Mitzvah. There were a lot more people there than usual from what I gather (the people behind me said something about it) and I didn’t really get a chance to talk to the Rabbi because he was busy. My question is when is appropriate to attempt to talk to him? And what is the etiquette I should use? The synagogue I’m attending is conservative, if that’s relevant.
