Major events of last year - decided to get back into vinyl. I used to have a collection of 2000+ LPs, collected since starting work as a 16 year old Saturday boy at Spillers Records in '79. Sold them all in mid-nineties to help pay my way through university.

When I started buying super deluxe editions of old classics, starting with The Ramones first album they came with LPs as well as CDs. After buying Road To Ruin I decided fuck it, I’m going to buy vinyl again.

Here's some I’ve picked up this year: at gigs, new releases, anniversary editions, Record Store Day releases and old classics.

Cleaning unused record photos out of my phone: Go West’s biggest US hit, “King of Wishful Thinking,” never had it’s 12” remix released here. After years of wondering what the remix sounded like, I found a European copy on Discogs cheap enough to rationalize ordering it—and found out why: It’s boring. It’s a shame they couldn’t bring back Julian Mendelssohn, who did all those epic-sounding remixes from their first album; no doubt he would have knocked it out of the park.
