So we spent several weeks on the road in the Rialta and not all of it was brilliant. The RV never actually made the whole trip. We had to leave it in Medford, Oregon for repairs, picking it up again only on our way home.
And then having been home for a few days Kimmer's like
"Hey, let's jump in the Rialta and have dinner at the beach!"
So we did that really quick trip and it was peaceful without incident.
Then a few days later on the weekend she's like
"Hey, let's jump in the Rialta and head north. We'll make a day of it!"
Not that I have full blown PTSD... but I didn't expect to be jumping into that thing for real again for quite some time.
Even if it was only a day's worth of road trip... it was still a trip. On the road. In an RV that was recovering from mechanical surgery, the outcome of which is still uncertain.
Despite my feelings of dread, though, we wound up with quite a lovely day. Kimmer packed some food and we started with the northernmost point on the itinerary: Marysville. Where we poked about the Value village there for a bit before heading down to the Everett waterfront for lunch, walking along the docks, and walking up to that gigantic overpass jutting out from the cliff over and across the railroad tracks dropping into the west end of the parking lot.
After that, we connected up with the boulevard into Mukilteo where we hung out for a lovely sunset and dinner.
For sure California road trips across mountain ranges are a trying experience both for me and the Rialta. But these local day trip adventures are a lot of fun and perfectly relaxing.
Especially those summer sunsets.
This time was mostly proof of concept. We can always just do the drive to Mukilteo beach for another sunset. We can do the Value Village run again 'cuz we always find good stuff in Marysville. The Everett waterfront's definitely on the list. But most of all we've got friends in Marysville. And we spotted a bunch of parks. And dang it.
