Red Factor may also be referred to as "cherry" and it's often mistaken for or found in combination with Strawberry, so if you find yourself confused just ask to see photos of the parents and choose babies from very pink or red parents.

this is a sun conure with the red factor mutation. normally, sun conures’ upper half is bright yellow and orange, where red factor birds it is red. this mutation has never been seen in the wild and is the product of selective breeding.

Here's an interesting comparison:

Two Red Factor Anery Strawberry males from two different bloodlines. Same genetics on paper, but a huge difference!

Valentine (darker) was produced by Sean Niland of VMS Herp.

Ermengarde (lighter) is a JMG line Red Factor produced by Frank Patinella of Coldblooded Novelties.

Sadly, the camera is not kind to pink tones but Valentine is pinkish in person. Just not as vividly pink as Ermengarde!

This is an interesting (to me!) comparison of a Red Factor Snow versus a “regular” Snow morph. On the left we have Rickroll, who was sold as a Cherry Snow, and on the right we have Hello, a Snow morph without any red-enhancing traits.

Hello looks almost yellowy compared to Rickroll. We don’t fully understand the Cherry trait yet, but it seems to be an incomplete dominant gene and is very possibly just Red Factor by a different name.
